...a few snaps

Good morning! Hope you had a great weekend! We took yesterday off after a wildly busy week and just relaxed! Here are a few snaps of our travels for your viewing pleasure, and also to distract you from the fact that I haven't made anything in what seems like ages!!!!

I need to get my skates on tho' as we will be having our June SOAP event this week starting Wednesday!!! The girls and I will be revisiting the sets released in May so that you will have even more inspiration and some neat new examples now that some of you guys actually have the stamps to hand - I do love this idea and I sure hope you guys will find it useful!

So, how is the two month thing working for you? I'm finding it real tough not to blab bout what is coming in July, so far we have 8 new sets confirmed and there are more pending!!!! I'm finding that I'm just as busy as ever, even though I have a wonderful friend who is helping me at present! I don't know if it's just because we're only just begun with the two month thing, or if things are just getting busier all round, but it sure feels like it's time for WMS to expand a little more!!!

Anyhow, knowing me, and the work I have to do today, and the fact that I am bursting at the seams to show you guys a little of what I've been getting ready for July, I may just post a little sneak tomorrow on the old blog.... I think we could have a little competition maybe.... I'll see what I can rustle up!!!

Anyhow, in the meantime, here's the scoop on the pics, they were all taken at locations along the North Antrim Coast:

Top is the Antrim Coast - the beach at Waterfoot.

Just below is a dinky little estate agent sign I spotted in Cushendall - how cute is this?? Click on the pics to make them bigger!

The gateway (well, one of them) into Glenarm Castle - how gorgeous are those hinges - you know they're gonna turn up in a stamp set someday...

One of the entrances to Glenarm Castle - we didn't go in on this occasion,  we're saving that for another day!

Along the wall of Glenarm Castle

Ok, I'm off to make stuff! See y'all later!

...Phew, what a week!

I just wanted to let you know, if I owe you an email, I will get to you!!! It has been a really, really busy week! If I didn't know better, I'd say Christmas had been brought forward!! lol, gosh, what an avalanche of orders!! I snuck out for 2 hours yesterday to take my wee folks to the cinema, but it's been a very, very solid work week here!! Orders as always are my priority and those are going out as normal, but the amount of unanswered emails in my inbox is way more than normal! I hope to get completely caught up by the end of the weekend. Thanks for your patience!

...It's official, we're two today!!!

Thank you!!

Now that 7pm my time has passed, we are officially two!!!! On the 21st May 2009 at 7pm we launched our first two stamp sets! Des, my DH had taken the bold step of funding a few hundred stamp sets and we were nervously testing the water!! the fact that we are still here is all down to you!! Thank you!!!!

I have thoroughly enjoyed running WMS this two years and I do hope I get the chance to run it for a few more. It's true that times are tight, but we hope that by offering folks something that little bit different, and by designing all our sets to be versatile, that we can offer folks stamps that are great value, great quality, great fun and adaptable to a wide variety of projects so that your investment continues to give pleasure long after the initial purchase.

Our first stamp sets were Gingerbread Joy - Oven Fresh and Gingerbread Joy - Half Baked, and I used a little gingerman on the wrap for the cupcake that I'm bringing to our tea party today! I think I'm allowed to make a Christmas cuppie for that purpose!!! lol!

Tea Party Challenge

Our tea party was a lovely success - we had over 80 folks bring tea baggies, cupcakes, cakes and cards and I had a ball going through the goodies!! Thank you all for coming to our birthday party!!

There were beautiful entries of every sort and I would have been hard pressed to choose, thank goodness for the random number generator!!! phew!

Without further ado, the grand winner is.....

£200 (approx $324USD) of WMS goodies will go to...

Deb C of the blog Tinkering with Ink : Engineering Creativity

HUGE Congratulations Deb C!!!! you win LOADS of goodies, Pop me an email and we will organize getting boxloads of goodies out to you!!!

You may chose from the existing goodies, or you can wait on the new future releases, or you can do a bit of both!! The choice is yours!!!

I have another little batch of goodies to give away and I'll do that in my next post tomorrow!

Thank you all for playing along with our challenge. Thank you to all of the folks who have visited WMS over the past two years, to get stamps, inspiration, or even to cheer us on along the way.

And Thank you to my Design Team and Mischief Makers, without whom WMS would be nowhere!!!

..Happy Birthday to me! lol

Good morning! There are just over 6 hrs left (as I write this) to enter the challenge, details here.

I will be back this evening with a post showing the winner of the grand prize!! I have so enjoyed looking through all of the tea party goodies that you have brought to our party!! thank you all so much for joining us on our second Birthday.

I hope to be along with some buns (cupcakes! lol) later and I have another giveaway - my favourite Die company has sent me some fabby dies to giveaway as part of our celebrations and I look forward to giving those out later also!!! I decided to pick a winner for the dies from the little bunch of folks who were my very first customers the day I opened WMS!! So I already know who is winning those!! I'll spill later!! LOL!

Here's a link to our opening blog post - a handful of folks might remember, for lots of people this will be new!!

...I'm waltzing, I'm waltzing....

I thought for my waltz card today I'd do a guy birthday card, and I had the idea of overstamping my sentiment, I used two of the large words from Say it Loud to make up the happy birthday. A little crazy stitching, gingham, distressing, torn edges...these are things I have come to associate with 'men' cards! lol, why is that...?

anyhow...

I'm waltzing along today with our monthly blog waltz deets here - hope to get an hour later to see who else is dancing along!! I love the relaxed pace of our waltz.... if this were any other blog hop, I'd be late! ;)

If you know how this works, the links are here and the chat is here. The theme is masculine cards!!

I used our new Gingham and Co stamps for the background and the Say it loud stamps to make up my front sentiment and for the inside. I added a little paper aeroplane from Free Spirit Boy, just to reinforce the 'man' feel!

Much sponging and use of blues and cinnamon type colours makes for quite a masculine card...I thought...

Monday, 16 May 2011

...are you waltzing???

Tomorrow we're having our monthly blog waltz - come play along!! make a card/project with a masculine theme, get your blog post/gallery link ready and post it to our forum here.

You can get the full details right here.

In the meantime, I will leave you with some pics of Ireland, we haven't had any in a while and it's high time I did my bit for Irish Tourism!!! These were all taken in Mayo, on the road from Westport heading towards Achill Island - we took some little detours and found these gems.

A house at the entrance to Newport town

Rockfleet castle - Once home to pirate queen Grace O'Malley

Burrishoole Friary - a useful info plaque was displayed, scroll down to read more about Burrishoole.

The Atlantic drive at Achill, mere photos cannot begin to capture the sheer beauty of this area...

Feeling refreshed??? lol, right, now go make something for the waltz!!!

...oooh yummie colours

So - I took the plunge - bought me some SU inks...

To be honest I have wondered about these for a while - sometimes I get emails from folks who use SU inks, wondering if they work with clear stamps. I can't answer for other clear stamp producers, but I thought the best thing to do was to try it myself!!

And yup, my arm didn't need much twisting!! I do love the range of colours they produce!!!

Anyhow - here's what I have found - these inks seem to work perfectly well with our stamps!! I am delighted! - I tested over 30 colours - admittedly there are about maybe 10 more or so that I don't have, but out of over 30, I only found one ink that didn't stamp as clear and crisp as the others, see below - the green, think it was certainly celery - and to be honest I completely forgive it!! It's such a lovely sahde of green that I actually didn't mind!! lol!!

You can see below - the green doily shape (Dainty Doilies 2 Small) the fine detail of the stamp is not so crisp as it is with the other doilies immediately beside it.

I tested the inks with 'used' stamps that had been inked up before and they were grand.

I also tested with a brand new stamp - newly 'peeled' NOT seasoned, rubbed or sanded, nothing! See below.

Inked it up...

here's what it stamped like - top left pine cone - I inked up and stamped again - bottom right pinecone - I couldn't see any difference. I was very pleased with the impression, it seemed to cover well and stamp clean!

LOL, before we go any further...nope, I'm not becoming an SU demo.....I'm just hoping to answer a few questions that I often get asked regarding SU inks - I'm guessing that many, many US folks and a good few UK people will be very familiar with SU inks and have had concerns about how they stamp with clear stamps. This is purely what I have found with our WMS Stamps.

Just while I'm here, thought I'd show you a big doily I stamped while checking out my new inks!
I started with the half 'tatted' doily stamp from Dainty Doilies 2 Small and stamped it twice to get a simple tatted doily. I took the little 'tatting' piece also from the same set and satmped around the outer edge to increase the size of my doily.

Then I turned the tatting piece side on and stamped two together, facing each other - see below in the darker ink colour.

I repeated this around the edge of the doily.

Finished with a centre piece from the same set - this wee mini centre piece also makes a cute mini doily in it's own right.

The finished Doily is just under 7 inches in diameter!! I thought it was quite pretty!! Great background for a scrap page!!

Hope it tickles!!

...WMS 2nd Birthday Tea party - link here!

Waltzingmouse Stamps is turning two on the 21st May! And I want you all to join me in celebrating with a little tea party!! Here's what I want you to do:

Use either the Free Tea bag baggie template - downloadable here - or the Tea cup template if you already own it - a purchase is NOT required to play, if you don't have the tea cup, get the free tea bag baggie. If you have the Piece of Cake template you may use that also (you don't need to make a cake - a slice is perfect!). If you have the Cuppie Love template that is also good, but I do stress that you don't need to purchase anything to play along - the free tea baggie template is perfect for the job!

Make either the tea cup/tea bag baggie or slice of cake/cupcake and decorate/stamp them for a party!

You have until 21st May to link your entries HERE on this post and we will only be accepting ONE entry per person! So give it your everything!!

The Grand Prize

One random winner, to be chosen after the inlinkz thingy ends on the 21st May, will win.

Please note do keep an eye on the deadline time - where it says "submissions close in..." after the inlinkz widget.

With all of the different time zones we live in, it is safest just to refer to this post to check you still have time to enter. It will be impossible for us to give a complete run down of equivalent ending times for each region.

The grand prize is £200 worth of WMS goodies (that's about $333USD, $316 CAD $305AUD). The winner may pick their choice from all the stamp sets/die templates/papers available at the store and will also have the option of picking from future releases!! So if you already have a good WMS collection, the next few releases could be yours for free!!

Can't wait to see what you're bringing to the party!!!!

...Welcome to the May 2011 release! New Stamps!

ED- well, we got off to a false start with the cuppie love templates -a tiny piece of info was missing from the template - but I have fixed it and folks who purchased will automatically receive an updated link to where they can get the corrected copy - my apologies for the inconvenience!!!

Good evening (or early morning, sorry Australia!) and welcome to the May release at Waltzingmouse Stamps.

We design and produce clear stamps made from the best quality photopolymer (that's the good stuff) and today we are releasing 5 new sets!!! If you are new to us, Welcome! We hope you find lots to inspire you!

We have a Design Team Blog Waltz happening right now where you can see some gorgeous examples of what you can do with the new stamps shown below, and we've been previewing for several days already so it's worth a scroll back to see what's new!

Below is a link list of your dance partners for our waltz!
Don't forget to leave comments on the DT posts as you pass by, we will draw a winner from an undisclosed DT member blog! The winner will receive a free stamp set! Now, off you pop! Just don't forget to come back and see the new goodies!

Store Information for the May release

Remember - FREE shipping for orders over £50 to Everywhere, yes, you're included! (approx $83.50 USD, $78.85 CAD, $76.13 AUD, €56.39 Euros, rate subject to change) and if you don't need £50 GBP worth of stamps today you might be interested to know that shipping one set to US costs around $4.50 USD. We ship our stamps out from our company base in Northern Ireland.

Please note that for this release, orders will begin to ship on Tuesday morning. Monday is a bank holiday here and there is no Postal service.

Orders containing the following sets: Say it Loud and Gingham and Co will begin shipping later in the week - the delivery of these sets to me has been delayed and rather than cancel the release of these sets I have decided to go ahead and release them and just make folks aware that the shipping on these will begin later in the week. This is not likely to have much impact as release time is usually busy and the normal 24-48 hour turnaround is slowed down to 3-4 days anyhow. Hope that's ok with y'all!

Shipping notices for orders placed at release times will go out after all packing and shipping is done!! My priority is to get the stamps out ASAP during release times and it could be that your shipping note may be delayed by up to 4-5 days!! So my apologies in advance if your stamps arrive before the shipping notice...You should receive an automatic order confirmation email from the store immediately upon ordering, so you will know that we have received your order. If you don't get an order confirmation email, please check your spam filter. If it's not in there, do pop me an email on claire.brennan1@ntlworld.com

Backordering: our store is set to allow folks to order backordered items. The upside is that orders containing backordered items will be fulfilled first when replenishment stock reaches the store, the downside is that orders containing backordered items will be held until we have all items in stock and ready to ship. However, we have a facility on the store that allows you to see if the item you want is in stock, so that you can decide whether to include that item in your order.

And here are the New goodies for May!!

Dainty Doilies - Large set

Ahhhh Doilies...I just want to stamp a few hundred of them and roll around in them...lol...

This is the easy doily set - the one you want if you're not into 'footering' around trying to line things up much. 12 Doily stamps that can be used in many combinations, together with a gorgeous complete medallion Doily for those moments when you just don't have time for anything else!! Heavily detailed designs, these are - I'm hoping - very different from the doily designs that are 'out there' already. Several of the designs work with existing Spellbinder die templates - the Big Scalloped Circles LG. This enables them to be trimmed out easily and prettily to make instant doilies. A couple of the smaller doily centres/motifs will work with 1 inch circle punches.

I do love to stuff as much value into each set as I can and there is a pretty little doily corner stamp that may be stamped 4 times in a circle if you wish to give another complete doily option, but it is simply lined up - that is the beauty of clear stamps!
Largest Doily Stamp measures 3 and 7/8 inches in diameter. the "you're so sweet sentiment measures just under 2 and 1/4 inches long. All images and stamp designs are Copyright © 2011 Waltzingmouse Stamps, Claire Brennan.

A complement to our larger Doily set, this little Doily set is the one for you if you DO LIKE to footer and line up stamps!!! It's a tiny little set, but I have designed the stamps so that it is possible to get at least 3 good sized doilies from it each measuring around 3 and 3/4 inches in diameter. It features half doilies - use them as they are on the edge of a card or stamp them twice to get a full doily each time.
The smallest of the doily halves has another add-on piece - thanks to Kate on our DT, we're calling it the Tiara stamp! - it may be stamped around the edge of the smaller doily to create a stunning border - if you find that your eyes are closing in together while you try to do this, you have only to download our free Tiara Doily guide, available here in the freebies section of our store and all will become ease and fun! Promise!

More original designs, linear and sharp and a beautiful large tatted doily, ever expandable with the accompanying tatted motif, there are many possibilities here to explore on that wet afternoon when you just want to stamp something.

The large tatted doily fits beautifully into the largest of the Spellbinder die templates in the the Big Scalloped Circles LG set.

The large tatted half doily stamp measures 3 and 3/4 inches by 2 inches at the widest points. The small tatted motif measures 3/4 inch by 1/2 inch at the widest points. All images and stamp designs are Copyright © 2011 Waltzingmouse Stamps, Claire Brennan.

Join Us is a novel set - it is an invitation set with a difference. A quaint mixture of formal and casual. It lends itself perfectly to CAS cards like those above. A whopping 32 sentiment stamps and 8 motif stamps, this is one of those sets that I will get lots of mileage from.

In this set, you will see that there are options for formal invitations, partnered with casual 'follow ups' - the example below shows what I mean - "Join Us for Christmas - you'd be most welcome."

I felt that this approach combined the significance of the occasion with a soft friendly encouragement to attend. It feels like something I would say when I especially wanted someone to accept an invitation.
Large scroll Stamp measures  2 and 1/2 inches in length by 5/8 inches deep. The hand written style thank you stamp measures 2 and 3/4 inches in length by 3/4 inches deep. All images and stamp designs are Copyright © 2011 Waltzingmouse Stamps, Claire Brennan.

Gingham & Co. - please note these will become available for shipping later in the week, see above.

Huge Big stamps - seriously - you might need new blocks for these...and you absolutely WILL need to use the mouse mat tip - you know, where you place a mouse mat underneath your stamping card/paper - t is essential for getting great impressions from all large stamps - see here for a little tut with pics - scroll down to where it says "getting a good impression".

Also - as will all large clear stamps from all manufacturers, do be careful when you peel these off the sheet for the first time - this is when they are especially sticky and you don't want to rip them off too quick and risk detaching the substrate.

I wanted gingham - I wanted it in 3 sizes - there is not a project I make that could not use a little touch of gingham somewhere! Our gingham design is based on our original, and may I say 'groundbreaking' plaid making stamps, here and here. They will work in perfect harmony as a complement to those if you already have them.

Ideal as background building stamps these are oversized so that you can stamp an image the entire length of a standard card without having to realign. Realignment is also super easy if you want to cover the entire card base with pattern.

The &Co part of this set is the huge reverse polka dot set - it may be used to create a background pattern, but a lot of the time I will be using this to stamp a little polka pattern that I can then go and punch circles from, or cut leaves out of - it's like having your own personal patterned paper maker - any colour of polka dot pattern that you wish!

Smallest Gingham Stamp measures just under 5 and 3/4 inches in length by 1 and 5/8 inches wide. The reverse polka dot stamp measures just under 5 and 3/4 inches in length by just under 2 and 1/4 inches wide.
All images and stamp designs are Copyright © 2011 Waltzingmouse Stamps, Claire Brennan.

Say it Loud. please note these will become available for shipping later in the week, see above.

Big words - gorgeous font - refreshing sentiment combinations - my favourite is "Celebrate - like you mean it" LOL!! I have been meaning to get around to this set for soo long and it's finally here and I'm in stampy heaven!

The scale of these larger sentiments is such that they will create instant drama on your cards or indeed scrapbook pages. A  veritable plethora of interchangeable supporting sentiments mean that you can say exactly what you want to every time!

'take care' Stamp measures just over 3 and 1/2 inches in length by 3/4 inches deep. The "my friend" sentiment measures just over 3/4 inches long by just under 1/4 inch height. All images and stamp designs are Copyright © 2011 Waltzingmouse Stamps, Claire Brennan.

Cuppie Love Template PDF

This is a downloadable PDF file of the Cuppie Love cupcake gift box. Please note this is a cupcake styled box and is not designed to hold actual cupcakes, although certain cupcakes might fit inside, those with high frosting definitely will not. This download will provide templates that you can cut out by hand with craft knife. SVG files are not available for this template at present. An SVG version may become available at a later date.

Please note that this is a digital product for you to download to your computer and as such it cannot be shipped. You will receive and email containing a link, clicking on the link will enable you to download the template. You will have 3 chances to download your template, and after that the link will expire, so be sure to save it directly to your computer desktop BEFORE you try to open it or it won't work. Also, if it is saved to your computer desktop you can then have unlimited access to the template whenever you need to use it.

Did you see I snuck in another little sample?? lol, I found out how to make the pics extra big in blogger!! woohoo!

Dainty doilies and say it Loud are a perfect pair! I love the heat embossing on the vellum - I used white powder and copper powder - yum, and I stamped my doily in PTI vintage cream ink - should have bought a bucket load of that stuff... i'ts fab! Trimmed it out with the Big scalloped circles Spellbinders die  - perfect! Made a wee embellie from another tiny little doily, and added a cream rose, lovely, well, i thought so! lol. Hope it tickles!! See ya later.
