....May sneak and a little comp!

All of a sudden it is summer in Ireland and I'm wondering if this is it for the year! The weather over Easter was beautiful here and I must admit to running off with the kids for a few days over the school break. I must admit, it is great to get away for a day or two, it always clears the cobwebs for me - how about you?

The image above is a sneak peek - we have some new goodies coming to the store this Saturday the 3rd of May (can you believe it?) and I'm just in the mood to do a little giveaway - I'm feeling nosey today so I'm going to ask you to leave a comment on this post telling me where your favourite summer holiday destination is... all the better if you think it might be suitable for a family with 3 children :) ...but no worries if it's not... . it doesn't matter whether you have actually visited it or not, it's all about daydreaming today!

I'll pick a winner on Tuesday night for this one and the winner will receive one of whatever this is in today's image!

  7. Two years ago I had best vacation ever when I was visitig Suisse. We drove there by a car so we had many options to explore it. You can read and see pics here: http://zivckinapaso.blogspot.com/2013/09/ballenberg.html and here: http://zivckinapaso.blogspot.com/2012/08/schilthorn.html Wish I could return some day and explore by bike, too.

  8. Just add water. The beach or anyplace with a pool. It may as well be the middle of nowhere or just down the street because my kids will want to spend all their time in the water anyway.

  9. I've wanted to visit Niagara Falls for YEARS....need to get there sometime!

  10. Living in Texas, we all want to get away from the 100+ degree temperatures. I like to visit family in Michigan to get away from the heat. We go to my sister's lake house & enjoy the cool nights.

  11. With a sister living in Nova Scotia, I would like to visit all of the Canadian Maritimes.
New Brunswick, The Bay of Fundy, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland, and Labrador are waiting for me to renew my passport.

  12. I'd suggest any beach in Australia Claire, but since you have 3 kids the journey would be your worst nightmare! I'd suggest Cornwall if you want to stay closer to home...I went there every year as a kid and have been desperate to go back ever since!

  13. I'm liking the sneaky peek ;-)

My favourite holiday destination is any of the Greek Islands. I always find the Greek people so lovely and welcoming and have never had a bad holiday there. Most places are very kid-friendly (during the day at least) as well although I'd avoid Kavos or Malia!

  14. We don't travel much, so I don't have a favorite destination unless you count visiting family. :) I would love a cabin in the mountains to escape to in the summer. A bit cooler temps and lots of natural beauty.

  15. I'm a bit sad - my favourite place to holidaying home although I do enjoy a trip to the south coast new forest area

  16. Having left the UK now and living in Canada, I fondly remember holidays in the Lake District, hiking, exploring ... etc. It felt so wholesome. But if you told me today I could go anywhere, I'd go to Hawaii :)

  17. Nice peek! For the summer our family like to go down to Baja Califonia, Mexico. I am Hispanic so we have a lot of a family there. Food and lodging is often times free! Yay. We love visiting the beautiful beaches in Baja. But, if I had to dream...well I would love to go to Florida...specifically to go to disney world! One day we will make it there.

  18. Living in Canada and with maternal family roots in Ireland, I would say Ireland! LOL
I'd also pick Toronto for a weekend getaway myself. ;-)

  19. Everyone I've known who's had a holiday in Alaska has enjoyed it immensely! And I'm not biased at all! :) Crisp, pure air, mountains, unspoiled scenery, lakes, rivers, forests, glaciers, lots of animal spotting such as bears, moose, fox and caribou!

  21. We live in the US in southern NJ on the east coast. Our favorite vacation spot is in the state of Maine. We worked many early years of our marriage on the coast of Southern Maine. Our son and family live there now. Rocks, beautiful ocean views, and hearty people. Love it!

  22. You know last summer we went camping in Lakes Basin in Northern California and it was bliss, I spent a full 24 hours not working with no cell phone coverage, something I should do more often in my peak busy summer season.

  23. My favourite holiday destination is Andalucia in Spain, the whole area is just lovely. I love the food, the scenery, the wildlife, the local horses, the people etc. etc.!!!

  24. Well I have not visited many places.. one that i did was a great family place.. it is in Santa Claus, Indiana. It is called Holiday World. They have a water park, amusement park and a campground if you want to rent a cabin or bring your own camper. As the name implies, it is Holiday themed.. I loved it since it revolved around holidays!

Then, I really want to visit Universal Studio's Wizarding world of Harry Potter, in Orland FL.

  25. Loving the sneak! I tend to be a bit of a homebody, but my favorite summer vacation place is Nova Scotia/PEI. We went for our honeymoon way back and are hoping to bring the kiddos in the next couple of years.

  26. Hi Claire
we have been lucky enough to have some short breaks in London and York which we enjoyed with the kids, however it may not be very inspiring but I am happy where ever we are as long as we are together. We are looking at Disneyland Paris this year can't wait to see their faces when we surprise them!!!

  27. The beach! Anywhere with a beach is where we go every year and wouldn't give it up for anything!

  28. Love the sneak peak. Since I come from Sweden I must say Sweden anywhere but the island called Ă–land is a very nice place in the Summers. Sweden is a very childfriendly country. But if I could go anywhere I would love to visit Ireland or Italy.

  29. My favourite summer holiday destination has to have been Antigua - just imagine lying on a beach with clear blue sea and a cocktail by your side - it was as idyllic as it sounds - but leave the kids behind!

  30. A cruise, to anywhere, it doesn't really matter! Cruising is the most relaxing vacation for a family with kids, particularly if you cruise with a line that has children's programs and activities.

  31. Living in Central California, USA, we are near half a dozen lakes. Favorite for a grandma is to be at my favorite, Bass Lake, on a pontoon boat, with my favorite sippie, watching the youngsters ski by!
Pssst, more than curious about the new leafy looking die!

  32. Hi Claire

First of all I want to tell you that I like the sneek peak. To me it looks like a leaf die, very interesting.

My favourite summer holiday destination? Well, as I don't like the heat it can be at any place where it is not too hot (for me that means not more than 25°C). Therefore I should probably stay where I live *lol* because within 1 hour I'm in the region of the well known mountains Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau and there it is never too hot.
I like the northern countries such as Sweden or Norway and I also loved our last year's summer holidays in Cornwall and Devon (where it had actually more than 30°C *lol*).

Thanks for giving us the chance to win!

  33. Oh I would love to go to PEI in Canada that's my dream! :)))

  35. As a family we love Wells-next-the-Sea in Norfolk. A huge beach, crabbing and Norfolk cider - what more could you want??!! We also love Center Parcs at Sherwood Forest which is where we'll be off to again in July - hooray!

  36. My dream holiday would be spent in Finland! It's so beautiful there and they have such cute, cozy round-shaped bungalows for two -wink wink- I love the look of them! :) I can't wait to see the new goodies!

  37. My family and I go to Cannon Beach on the Oregon Coast every July. The weather usually isn't great but it doesn't matter. We stay near the beach, have bonfires in the evening, take long walks on the beach to watch the puffins and other sea birds and just relax and enjoy being together.

  38. My favourite place in the world... Bali! Such gentle people and beautiful vistas. A bit far to travel but we did it from the UK with two boys in tow when they were about 9 and 11.

  39. Just had another look at the sneaky peek - looks a lot like a matching die for the Simple Sprig set......

  40. Fave summer holiday location? The wine valleys of Central California. Sunny weather, great wine. Sorry, this is probably very inappropriate for kids!

  41. We are hoping to visit Yellowstone National Park this summer. If you like the outdoors and camping life, it would be fun for a family ;)

  42. Great sneak Claire!

Right now my dream vacation would be to Walt Disney World--I've never been myself and I think the kiddos would love it!

  43. Mostly our vacations were to Idaho where hubby hails from but I still look back with a great fondness to our first ever real vacation as a family, just the four of us to Idaho City. We'd borrowed the camping gear from mom & dad (no money in tose days)and it was like walking onto the set of a western only for real! We went back a couple of years ago (a trip down memory lane) and nothing had changed much. And my dream trip? Italy. Maybe I'll get there one day.

  44. I'd love to visit Japan...a world away from Essex!!

  50. Fave destination in May would have to be Germany, Austria, France. Countryside is gorgeous and temps are perfect and blue skies. Perfect for June would be a camping trip and by camping I mean either in a cabin or rented RV. Perfect for July or August might be a house boating trip on some big, clear lake! Have fun whatever you do!!

Our favorite summer destination is Cambria, along the central California coast. We usually meet friends there who come down from the San Francisco area.

  56. I think a holiday at the beach in San Diego, California sounds mighty fine right about now! Has to be a place I can bring my 2 Golden (retriever) babies, though!

  57. I live in BC, Canada. Every chance I get, I go to Lake Okanogan. It's our only micro desert in Canada. There's a beautiful lake and beaches with shallow water so the kids can play but you don't have to worry too much about them. The lake is right in the centre of our wine country, so lots of gorgeous wineries to tour. Great for kiddies and adults!

  58. For summer, right here in my home town of Hobart, Tasmania! I don't like too much heat, and it is usually just right here - around the 30 mark, with a sea breeze in the afternoon and clean air! Winter now, that is another story - somewhere where the heat is dry and warm: Italy perhaps or Hawaii.

    ReplyDelete
  59. My favourite summer place, well that is easy, my home in France. During the winter it is cold and chilly but in the summer it is truly idyllic, surrounded by fields with a huge pond, the scent of roses wafting across the terrace, very quiet and very private. Bliss.

  60. I have always wanted to go to Italy but don't know if we'll ever be able to afford to go. We have had two wonderful holidays in the Isle of Skye in Scotland - the scenery there is breathtaking!

I'm intrigued by the sneak peak - looks like a useful sort of leaf.

  61. Living in the US, my dream destinations would be Europe. We had the opportunity during spring break to visit our oldest who is studying at St. Andrews in Scotland and we fell in love with Edinburgh, St. Andrews, and all the lovely fishing villages we were lucky enough to visit. We have a short layover in Dublin which was unexpected and the first thought I had when i found out was, "I wonder how far Waltzingmouse is from the airport?" Really, I did! Maybe some day I will be lucky enough to visit your beautiful country.

  62. I dream of the Greek islands :) maybe one day I'll get there. Love this sneak peek - is it a die for leaves? So excited!!
