So just for fun, I'm going to give a little parcel of stampy goodies, (and maybe a Co-ordinating Die template???) from the store to a random commenter on this post!! I have my eye on the Labels 14 that Debbie Olson kicked it all off with HERE.

You do know they've been having a Blog Frezy, the eye candy has been so good it's almost unbearable!! Check it all out HERE! and then come back and tell me what you likey likey!!

Yep, your prize will be a stamp set or two plus a matching Die set!! I will chat to the individual who wins to make sure they get something that they don't already have!!! - Right off you go and show Spellbinders some love!!

What are the chances that you'd run into town to go to the bank and bump into an old friend that you haven't seen in years? 16 years to be exact. Yep, we scrambled into the bank first thing this morning, barely dressed in threadbare house cleaning attire, before breakfast, not a hair in the house brushed, badminton fee emergency.

We'd promised ourselves a leisurely pancake breakfast upon our return while we really got ourselves together for the day. And there she was, a friend from College who went on to great things, in faraway places. In my little old town where (thankfully, it must be said) not very much goes on.

She was from the South of Ireland and we were quite good buddies for the few years we were at Uni, and then we moved on, as you do, quite rightly so. I was pleased to see her looking so well. I believe I used the word 'glowing'.

She hasn't married but is happily partnered, no wee folk, great big house at A, second pad at B. I was genuinely delighted at her success and then the chat turned to myself, "Oh yes, having a ball, 3 of a family, got a cracking little Stamp company, designing...making...fabulous Design Team, product partners with a hugely popular crafting company, so happy..." As I'm waffling, I'm following her eyes up and down my person, taking in the smaller folk, the wrinkled linen, overstuffed handbag and I'm noticing a sympathetic smile trying to hide itself on her lips.

It's not until I'm walking away that I realize she doesn't believe me...and I know she doesn't believe me because with a thunderclap of epiphanic remembrance I picture the very last time I was talking to her, I have a very good memory of it, we were in a cafe in Belfast 16 years ago and I'm wearing the same blasted shirt.

  1. I love your story Claire. Too funny. You should toss that shirt out so that doesn't happen again!!!

As far as my favorite NEW Spellbinders...Labels 14 is at the top for sure, but Lacey Squares Nesties, Beaded Oval Nesties and the Heirloom Ornaments are a close second!!!

I hope you have a good day!!

  2. Hi Claire,

Was really checking in to let you know my parcel of stamps arrived today. I'm off to make thank-you cards for my daughter's Guide leaders - they all returned from a huge international camp in Guelph, Ontario, and I know those leaders can use a lot of TLC, so I'll be cracking open Rescue Remedies. :)

My new favorite Spellbinders are the heirloom ornaments. I'll definitely be adding those to my collection.

Thanks a million, and glad to know that success hasn't gone to your head since you're still wearing the same old clothes! :)

  4. Don't you love those clothes that keep on giving! I have a jumper that is like that - threadbare around the wrists and all but I love it. People see me in that they must wonder! Never mind, we believe you - my favourite Spellbinders new thingy is the snowflakes that Bekka showcased. I look at her work and just drool and wish I was a clever as she is. Thanks for the blog candy chance and congratulations on the 500 milestone! PS LOVE my new stamps!

  23. Hi, Claire! That's some story - don't you love it when you're out hoping not to run into ANYONE, and lo and behold...never fails. For me, it usually happens after I've been gardening, just need a quick something at the store, and BINGO - there's someone I know looking cool as a cucumber! Anyway...I am looking forward to Labels 14 also, but the Wonky Squares have also caught my eye. Sometimes I want something a little modern and funky, but not "square" exactly, you know? I think I would use them a lot! Thanks for the contest and the chance to win! Sue.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I'm all about Labels 14, too---but, of course, anything that Debbie shows me, I'll love! That story about your college friend TOTALLY cracked me up! HYSTERICAL! All she has to do is google you---she'll find out the truth---don't you worry!

    ReplyDelete
  28. I have to agree with you on the Spellbinders Label 14...but I also would add both of the Halloween dies to my wish list. *grin*
And congrats to you for two 500's in one day...woohoo!
Oh girl I feel for you...without going into the deets I've been there/done that on bumping into an old friend.

Oh my goodness, girl: the same shirt!!!! I tell you, if you run into town thinking "I won't see anyone" you are sure to :) I hate that!
Well, of the new spellbinders, I'm leaning towards the lacey circles or squares, and I love the flower that Mona Pendleton did with the Wonky Squares, and then again, the halloween dies are sooo cute too. I hate when companies make so many cute things that you want it all (like WMS)
thanks for the opportunity to win some blog candy: you are too sweet. Have a great week. Helen

Would LOVE to win some stampy goodies from you, and congrats on the 500/500!!! Love the waffle, too funny about the shirt. Oh well, at least YOU know better, LOL! Maybe you need to travel with calling cards with the webstore addy to prove yourself to non-stamping types!!

  43. Ah, that Spellbinders Nestie eye candy has been almost too much this week. I'm really a fan of the lacey squares and circles, but those fun shapes are so cute too. I bet those Halloween ones will be fun! Loved hearing your story about your running into your friend. :)

  44. well, Claire. I have a west coast friend that I see once a blue moon. Funny thing is, the last three times I ran into her, I wore the same t-shirt. I have picture proof!

i'm smitten by Label 14. The Heirloom ornaments are cute too! Prolly because I have Christmas already on my mind.

However, let me just say: Congrats on your success! You've been working mighty darn hard, and it's been fun watching your little following grow to such big, successful numbers. The WMS community has been truly wonderful to me. Can't wait to see your beautiful new store!

  52. Oh dear Claire ..... I'm still laughing about you and your shirt!!!
Never fret ..... you are the lucky one ....... wealth makes life a little easier but it will never take the place of a loving family and good friends!
    Congratulations on all the 500's...........
If I mention you or your stamps in our house my DH refers to you as 'Danger Mouse'!!! What does he mean!
I've been checking out all the new Spellbinder dies . Really would love the Beaded Ovals and the Laced Squares.....ooh and the Christmas Ornament shape too.....Haha.....Santa always gets a full list from me each year!

    ReplyDelete
  53. I agree with you, Claire. I would love to get my hands on Labels 14. Debbie has continued to use it and I lust for it a little bit more each time.

Now, you've got to put things in perspective. If you can still get into a shirt from 16 years ago AFTER birthing three children, then you have succeeded no matter what else is happening in your life. Congrats on that and the double 500s.

    ReplyDelete
  54. labels 14 is my favorite as wel, are you ging to make matching stamps for it?? I think the heirloom ornaments ar great for making christmas ornaments.

  59. I feel like a five year old in candyland...all those new dies.
I realy like the Wonky Squares (not just for their name...but you have to admit, say 'wonky squares' 10 times and try not to smile, won't work. :D) and the Witches Brew (I can see these working together with the WMS halloween stamps).

And just so you know, it's a common fact that you never ever ever run into old friends when you are looking your best!

  60. Claire, what lovely blog candy. I looked at the Spellbinders blog a few days ago and liked S4-294 Beaded Ovals but I think that the one I am waiting for more would be S4-295 Lacey Squares. They look so posh and would go with fun or more traditional images. Thanks for a chance of winning. Best wishes, kym xxx

Your story is quite funny.. the punchline really made me LOL! Who cares if you're wearing the same shirt.. just goes to show you can still fit into it.. unlike me.. haha!!

  63. My favorite just popped up this morning on the blog hop: Lacey Circles, but I saw two label dies I liked as well.

I just received my first order of Waltzing Mouse stamps and have to tell you how much I love them!!! I've already used them on a scrapbook project as well as a little treat box.

    ReplyDelete
  64. This is why I know we should be friends! Have you ever watched the show, "Modern Family"? There is an episode that describes this exact scenario, where Minnie Driver is the successful friend. It's riotously funny, as everything possible goes wrong. In the end, the mother is able to see that she really is happy where she is and very successful in her own right. I count happiness as success, and my dear Claire, you are wildly successful!

  65. What great candy! Love your products... and nesties,, they are the perfect crafting combination!

    ReplyDelete
  69. Love the story..I know how that goes when you least expect to run into somebody you are always dressed in old clothes or pjs..HA!!

It's hard to narrow it down with the new Spellbinders..how can they keep coming up with all these great ideas?! I love the lacey squares and the beaded ovals if I have to name just one or two. Thanks for offering the blog candy!

I just adore the new lacy squares from the new Spellbinders collection. Can't wait to see what you come up with to put with the new dies that will be released soon! I love the beaded oval dies and am with you on the labels 14 set. thanks for this opportunity and the great job you are doing!

I'll bet she finds your website or facebook page and sees what else you have accomplished! Perhaps you could stamp a few little cards, add your web address and tuck them into your overstuffed handbag for just these occasions ;0) By the way I really like labels 14 as well and the vintage ornaments are lovely too.

  85. Oh... and don't you worry your pretty little head about Miss Fantastic. All she needs to do is Google your name and she would see how Fab you are, even if you don't dress like her or live like she does.
A girlfriend and I were just talking about something like this last weekend... A bigger house just means MORE housework and less crafting. (*wink*) And with the wee folk only getting bigger, they'll soon be able to help with the housework which will give you even more time for crafting and creating. HA!

    ReplyDelete
  86. I am new to Waltzing Mouse stamps... To be honest, I am not quite sure how I went all my paper crafting year without Waltzing Mouse. Your products are exceptional... I plan to be a customer for many-many years to come.
I can't wait to get my hands of labels #14... That die is so exquisite!!

    ReplyDelete
  87. Hmm, tough one! I love the lacey circles but can't imagine dealing with all those tiny cutouts, so I'll go with Heirloom Ornaments because I can imagine the wonderful set you'd dream up for that one!

    ReplyDelete
  88. Keep the shirt...it's a very good friend!

I love your products especially the Frame stamps!

    ReplyDelete
  89. Hey, I have a shirt that dates back to before I was preggo with oldest DD . . . and she is getting married next year. A good classic never dies!!! Choosing one spellbinders die never works, its a cascade, you get one, you want them all.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Oh no - the same shirt...but I'm not surprised at all...I have things from way back...in case I lose weight!!!
It would have to be beaded ovals for me because ovals and I are one. I used to pencil around ovals years ago and cut them out with scissors before dies appeared...then it was the case of covering over the cut edge with decorative bias ribbon and I usually frilled ribbon around the edge...how good these beaded ovals would be. Congratulations on the 500th member of the forum. Great news about the new shop. Well done.

  91. Great story...thanks for sharing. Love the labels 14, snowflakes and the diamonds.

    Congrats on the 500's!!

  92. You've got me giggling over here, Claire. I loved your story! Isn't that the way it always is when you run into someone? Ah well, I'm sure your shirt is back in style. ;-) Just know that there are LOADS of us folks who would be absolutely gutted without your fantastic products. Plus you're doing what you love. How cool is that!!
As to Spellbinders.....Labels 14 is a must have. I was thrilled when I saw that Debbie showcased WMS stamps on her project. I also think the Halloween and the Nested Mitten dies are too fun.

  93. Love your story about the shirt! Too funny. I was on here last night when there were no comments yet, and I didn't want to post first!
Labels 14 and Snowflake Pendants are my favorites so far.

  94. I can be guaranteed to see someone I haven't seen in ages if I go out looking frumpy! I feel your pain.
The new Spellbinder that I've got my I on are the Lacey Circles & the Labels 14. Maybe I'll win some!

  95. What a great story!! I can't wait to see what you come up with for the new nesties!! I (like most) lean toward the beaded ovals, scallop circles, labels 14 and the ornaments. And, I'm still hoping for a fabby wms baby set! xo

  96. I love those lacey circles and squares!

  97. Just ordered my first WM stamps and can't wait to play!
I love the labels 14 and heirloom ornamant-both are now on my wishlist!

  98. How exciting to hit two big milestones at once! Congratulations... the attention is well-deserved.

Your story was very funny. On the weekends, I don't get myself all trussed up to go to the story. Invariably I'll see someone I know. Of course, it hasn't changed my habits yet, lol.

As for which Spellbinders? I'm not sure I could pick right now. We haven't seen them all! But I liked the ones Ashley Cannon Newell used the other day. I love ALL the label ones, lol.

  99. Laughed out loud for real on this one!!! You're a great storyteller, I love reading your little anecdotes!!

  100. What is that Spellbinders punch - why oh why to we never get the new stuff in the UK! I've tried to join in the blog frenzy to but couldn't get me comments to stick - if you know what I mean! I really like those lacy squares.

I hope you gave your old friend a business card Claire - then she could see how far you've come in the last year. Better to live the creative life than worry about how others see us. The older I get the less I'm bothered about image!

  101. So funny... TFS.... good luck with the new shop.

Can't wait to get my mitts on Labels 14 too.....

  102. Lol, great story - it must be a very comfy and much loved shirt to have lasted 16 years (and well done that you still fit in it - sadly I can't say the same!).

OMG, I didn't realise that spellbinders were poised to bring out more loveliness, I haven't collected all the others yet. Having seen the new ones though, I think my favourites, and top of the 'must have' list are labels 14, Graveyard Scenes and shapes (14 year old Goth daughter - need I say more!), and lacey squares.

  103. Your story is so funny! Time to get rid of the shirt. I love the beaded ovals, lacey squares and the label 14.

  104. I wouldn't have the old shirt problem cuz it wouldn't still fit me! LOL My thing is running into someone when I don't have on my make-up; they prob wouldn't even believe that it's me! LOL Okay, so for the new Dies, I'm all over the Labels 14, but the beaded ovals run a close second. But I'm betting there's room in my craft room for both - ha! :) Have a sooper dooper day Claire!

  105. I absolutely love the Labels 14 dies... I can do so much with them!

  106. Yes, that's always the way. When you look like dirt you are bound to run into someone. It never happens when you're looking spruced up. As for the Spellbinders, I'm loving Lacey Squares and Labels 14 and 15. But they are all wonderful.

  107. You make me laugh with this story.... and what ??? Who's care if she did not believed you ???? We know who you are and it is the most important part of the story !

My favorite new spell is Lacey Squares ... hard to make a choice !!!!

  108. I just got my whole order...eight stamp sets...I need to get the egg die and label dies...I really like the label tags with the cool ribbon slots. Abright

  110. Hi Claire,
reading your little story I had to nod and to smile.

Hm, I`m only having a few Spellbinders until now, and not even the great Label 4. Actually I would prefer that one. But the new Lacey Circles set looks good as well!

    Liebe Grüße

  111. LOL! I hope you have her address. Drop some basic stamping supplies into a box for her and get her stamping. I see lot of empty spaces in two houses to fill with stamps :)

    Congratulations on your accomplishments!!!

    ReplyDelete
  112. Labels 14 are top of my list!!! Although it's really hard to choose cause I love all of the new dies!!! (Could someone present with all of them pleaseeee?????!!!!!lol).
The world is reaaaally small and things like this happen when you don't look your best!!!!

  113. That's a great story!

My fave new Spellbinders... the beaded ovals (at least I think that's what they're called...I know she made a beaded oval project which was very caool...lol) and the lacey circles from today

  114. OH, that is just too priceless... love your story (hehe... gave me a great chuckle)

As for nesties, I'm all about Debbie Olsen, oh yeah and that nestie she was sharing (lol)

  115. Such a funny story! I'm sure someday you'll be so famous that she'll have to realize you were telling the absolute truth!

As for Spellbinders, I'm really liking the Lacey Squares and Beaded Ovals. Congratulations on the success of your blog and forum, and thanks for the chance to win!

  116. Haha Loving your story... only because I can relate. Life's funny like that!
The spellbinders must have's would be Labels 14, Lacey squares and the snowflakes. Fabulous!!

  117. Oh, Claire, this story makes me laugh out loud! I'm sure most of us can relate to a grocery store or shopping outing just like this. Only I usually duck quickly behind the produce stand to avoid such a moment...lol!

  118. I love anything Spellbinders but my new fav is Label 14. I just discovered Waltzingmouse stamps and I think they're totally awesome!!! Congrats on your new store!

    ReplyDelete
  119. LOL Claire! I do the same type of thing when I go back to visit my hometown. I run out to the bakery first thing (because that's when selection is the best) and I inevitably run into the hot guy from high school when I look all grungy.

I am personally LOVING the Labels 15 and the lacey scalloped ovals.

    ReplyDelete
  120. You crack me up! I read your blog the first thing in the morning with my cup of joe and you made me laugh out loud!

As far as the new items go I want them all....as you could tell with my last order from you. Haven't received it since it is coming across the pond but it makes me excited to get home everyday and see if it has arrived.

  121. I love that story - I get it from both sides. When I was 16, there was NO WAY I'd be doing what I am doing and (most of the time...!) loving it. But I do and I am. And I think you're amazing.

( Not saying that to sook up for the spellbinders prize - and I'll take ANYTHING ! - it's true !! )

  122. oOOH Clare - that's so generoous of you!I love every single spellbinders die-honestly!I recently purchased your vintage labels 4 stamps and they've really brought the dies alive - so now I "need" more!!
p.s - I laughed so much when reading about your bumping into your old friend-sounds just like me ha!!
    Take care,

  124. Loved your reunion story, Claire. Don't feel bad...I still wear pants that I've had for 13 years. Look at it this way....good for us for still being able to fit into the clothing we had so long ago. *smile*

  125. I am definitely liking Labels 15 - but I also am getting the itch to buy some of the flower nesties... so many nesties, so little cash :(

Congrats on your new store!! I am excited to see it!!

  126. So excited for the new store to launch! Even more excited for a WMS gallery! I am really liking both the Labels 14 and 15. Hoping you get creative with all those killer curves!

  127. Can't wait for your new store to open. I have been watching your success and am so happy for you. Your little company is growing with leaps and bounds. Gotta love those Wonky Squares from Spellbinders.

  128. Isn't it always that way?? That you meet up with someone when you are not at your "best"!! Oh well, at least you are happy! And I could not fit in a shirt from 16 years ago, so at least you have that to be happy about!!

i like the heirloom ornaments dies! I know that they will have limited use, but I really love ornaments!
