...say hello to Half Pint Heroes

Welcome to the second day of our previews of the 5 new sets releasing here on Sunday!!! Did you see the DT creations yesterday! They were fabulous!! Check the ladies out again today...they have lots more inspiration!!!

Lisa, Julia, Mona, Carly, Jennifer, Bonnie, Lynn, Anya, Belinda, Laurie

We'll be releasing out new sets here on Sunday at 7.00pm my time!! Pop back tomorrow for more eye candy from the girls and I.

Today I feel like a competition, random of course, nothing too strenuous, it is friday...let's see...oh yes, I'm curious about which up-coming set folks like most so far from the samples we have shown...lol, so pop your comment at the end of this blog post to be in with a chance of winning. One comment per person please, ta. Make sure you leave some sort of contact details so's we can get in touch if you win...One random winner will get 3 new sets of their choice!!!! The winner may pick for the new sets on Sunday or the sets already released!! Have fun!

My first item today features my wee dude! No, really it does. The standard rainy day activity in my house is drawing, all my wee folk like to draw, but since wee dude is so small, we have to help him.

He always asks us to draw pictures of him in cars and spaceships, and that was where the idea for this set came from. Half Pint Heroes features a number of vehicles into which you can stamp a head which roughly corresponds with the little chap of your choice...there are 7 different little due head stamps, the one you see above is the one that looks like my little dude! lol! Yup, he does have orange hair!

See the dinky orange trees? that's a wee peep at another set, Teeny Trees, also releasing Sunday, you might have spotted it yesterday on the DT blogs. OOh and this card is a 6x4 size, so's you can get an idea of the scale of the wee car.

It seemed appropriate to do this set in a hand-drawn style, my little guy loves that I can stamp a 'Ruari' into a 'sumbarine' a 'wocket' and a 'car'!! it's such a fun stamp set to just play with aside from the card making opportunities.

A feature of this set is the extra 'porthole window' stamp which I designed so as to allow us to add portholes and windows to paper boats and paper aeroplanes, another rainy day favourite in our house. Check out this wee boat below, wouldn't this make a fabby party table decoration, filled with jelly beans?

It would be so easy to make a boat for each party guest and stamp their wee faces into some portholes and stick them to their boats!! What fun!! Add their names to the flag and you have some very snappy place settings.

I used a piece of 12x12 patterned paper (my minds eye, I think) which I trimmed to 12x10 and folded to make a boat, couldn't be easier.

And nope I can't leave the nutcrackers alone...perfect for making yourself some fancy tree ornaments. This one is so simple. Spellbinders fancy tag, trimmed out 6 times, each folded in half and stack back to back to get the windmill piece at the top. Then trim out out stamped and coloured nutcracker with a large labels 4 dies template (#S4-190). Cut another labels 4 shape out of plain card and then cut the centre out of it with a Spellbinders labels 6 die (#S4-230). You will be left with two little decorative bits that you can sponge and stick directly back onto the labels 4 nutcracker shapes, so simple!

I made two nutcracker panels in this way and stuck them back to back, a bit of string threaded between them first. Add beads and stars to complete your dangly decoration.

The idea is that the wee windmill bit at the top catches any breeze and turns the ornament so that you see the other side. It's probably more decorative than functional tho'!

I stamped my nutcrackers in black versafine and clear embossed before colouring with copics. Sponged everything well with Antique linen distress ink.

Hope it tickles

  1. My first reaction to the Teeny Trees was Yeah! Yipee! So fun and versatile.
And with 2 wee boys, I'm rather keen on the Half Pint set as well.
I do love the other preview sets too. Ah, so difficult to chose a favourite.

  2. Wonderful creations Claire. LOVE LOVE LOVE the Half Pint Heroes peeks! The boat is a fantastic idea. Little dude will be thrilled to have a set of stamps drawn in his honour :)

  3. What fun! From what I've seen so far it's gonna be hard to choose a favourite set, cos they're all great!
I have to admit that I'm intrigued with the nutcracker though, I can't wait to see the rest of that set...

  9. EVERYthing is wonderful, adorable, or simply beautiful; but those Nutcracker stamps are definitely finding a place in my daughter's gift this year. Her delight in the ballet and the Christmas-time classic makes in mandatory that this set go at the top of my list.
...but then my wee Grandies would love the Half Pint Heroes, I would realy love some background music...
Oh! decisions and tight budgets simply do not belong in the same sentence, now, do they?
You've outdone yourself, again, Claire, and I am in serious "t-r-o-u-b-l-e". Good luck to some lucky winner on your wee contest; I know she(he) will be most satisfied with their stamps! :-D

  10. Nutcracker Sweet is just beautiful - I love to color and this set has endless possibilities - and will lend itself to all sorts of embellishment with embossing and glitter! It will make some really special Christmas cards. Thank you, Claire!

  11. It's hard to pick my favorite, Claire. I have been wanting a music background for a long time so that set gets bumped up on the list. But I am really intrigued by Nutcracker Sweet. In addition to the nutcrackers themselves, from what I've seen from the sneaks, the other images are going to be great!

  12. Hi Claire
Love the stamps but the Half Pint Heroes is my favorite is so cute.
Would love to start to color them.
The teeny Trees are great as well
from the Music background I haven't seen enough yet.
So please more cards...love all the ideas!

  16. Hi Claire,

Oh, you've made such wonderful things again! Love that boat! Gives me a fabulous idea for the upcoming bday of my dad, ha ha, he's 63 then, but why not give him a playboat then, where we'll give a gift certificate in, perfect way to wrap his gift, him being such a huge boat-lover! Wonderful idea and love that cute little stamp set!

But I think my favorite will be the Teeny Trees! I'm crazy about tree stamps and I've seen soooo many wonderful tree creations coming by the past days with the DT! I loved them all! Haven't seen the whole set yet, of course, but they are separate tree parts and I really like that idea! That way it's sooo easy to combine the colors you like and give the tree just that image that you would like at that moment! Perfect for tree lovers like me!!

I'm very curious what the whole sets will look like! Thanks for these wonderful designs again!!

    Hugs,
    Wendy

  25. Oh Claire and all you guys on the Design Team - your cards, ornaments, tags, etc - are simply fab!! I love the Nutcracker Xmas hanger - particularly in the blue and purple. And the Half-pint heros are just so cute. And I think I've already said that you can't have enough trees.

But for me, my favourite is the music (please can we see more) set. I don't have any music stamps because I've never found just want I want - but from the peaks that I've seen - your designs are just perfect.

I've already warned my husband that I'm shopping on Sunday evening! Can't wait to see the surprises tomorrow.

    Thanks, Deborah x

It definitely tickles. The nutcracker ornament is divine! So creative. And I love that little puff of exhaust putt putting out of the car. You think of all the details!

It really is hard to pick a favorite so far, but I'm thinking the Bountiful Basket Additions because of the versatility it will add to my Spring Baskets set. But I tell ya, the Teeny Trees is a close second!

  31. Hi Claire

How difficult to choose a favorite among all the wonderful stamps that will be released very soon!
As I like very much making cards for Christmas, I look forward to see the complete Nutcracker set as well as the music stamps. But the Half Pint Heros, the Teeny Trees and the Baskets additions also look so great, so it's really impossible for me to say which set I will like most.
The best would be to win 3 of them!

Can't wait to see all sets on Sunday!

    Kind regards
    Carola

  59. It makes my heart melt to learn of the inspiration behind Half Pint Heroes. TFS

I'm torn in naming my favorite. It's between Teeny Trees and Music Background. Teeny Trees may have a slight edge because more of the stamps have been shown by the DT. And the font you used for 'give thanks' is sublime.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Just fabulouse, Claire! SO excited about this release (esp the music background.. have been wanting this forever!)

  78. Given I have 2 tiny half pints myself - (both obsessed with anything that moves!) - I can't WAIT to get my hands on those little heroes! My eldest (3 1/2) loves to stamp with mummy, and even said he wants to be a crafter when he grows up! This is a must have for us (and I'm praying for a little plane! or helicopter!).

  85. Hi Claire, I'm still a little undecided between the musical background and the half pint heroes. Maybe the music is more versatile, but the little heroes are the greater fun of course. And the other sneak peeks look great, too. You made it very difficult!

  86. Claire, my favorite set so far is the Teeny Trees. LOVE the font on the sentiments and the trees will make quick beautiful cards!

    ReplyDelete
  88. I am still struggling to decide which I like best as I LOVE them all but if pushed I would have to say the Nutcracker set as the stamps I have seen so far are so unique and magical, love St. Nicholas as an alternative to Santa too!

  90. I love all of the samples, here and on the DT's blogs...I would have to say that I am drawn to Half Pint Heroes, but I do love the coloring you are doing with the Nutcracker one too. The baskets are cute too...it's so hard to choose!

    ReplyDelete
  91. Gee, kind of hard to decide what I like the most. I love your style Claire, the nutcracker is amazing, but that little submarine is so darn cute! Then the baskets with different fillers...I love everything!

    ReplyDelete
  92. I love the teeny trees! They're adorable!
    Debbie

    ReplyDelete
  93. Claire the sets are all so amazing! I love the small
circles set.........the trees .......really all of them....
    Just love your style.

    ReplyDelete
  94. This is the best release yet! I love all the sets this month. So hard to choose a favourite...but the set I've been wanting and waiting for most is the music background. Then the more I see of the Trees set the harder in love I fall. Claire, you have really done a wonderful job. I hope I can be lucky enough to win again. LOL.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Half pint heroes is my favorite. Maybe we could get some girlie heads in an addition? Lots of Navy friends - lots of ideas for future cards.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Half Pint Hero Sub guy!!! SO cute!

    ReplyDelete
  97. So difficult to choose a favorite!! I like different ones for different reasons. I am leaning toward Tiny Trees, but really I could "topple" in any direction!! (Sorry, could not resist the lame joke!!)

  98. Teeny Trees is just Treeeeemendout to me :D.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Everything looks so amazing and fabulous! I'd love to hear more about your trip to the Salzburg Christmas markets -- I've read about it and seen pictures, and it seems like it would be an incredible experience. Maybe you can regale us with stories when you come to the States to teach some stamping and coloring classes (please, please, please)!!!

The Nutcracker Sweet set sure has my eyes dancing (the font is one of the most gorgeous I've ever seen), but until my coloring skills improve (after taking some intensive lessons from you {please, please, please}) I may have to choose the music set as my current pick for top of the chart. I've been wishing for something along these lines, so I'm definitely doing a happy dance about that one.

    I hope you're feeling better!

    ReplyDelete
  100. While every one of the new sets are amazing, as usual, my favourite has to be Nutcracker Suite! I have probably seen the "Nutcracker" ballet every Christmas for as long as I can remember, either on a stage or watching my video (yes, video - time to get a DVD?). The DT has done fabulous projects with this set, and I can't wait for my turn! Thanks again, Claire.

  101. I think all the new sets are great but those nutcrackers really make me smile. My son loves them and it would be so much fun to decorate all his wrapped gifts and tags with that set.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Just lovely. Claire, you have done it yet again. My favorite this time is the musical backgrounds (plus I love the nutcracker).

  103. I really like those nutcrackers too---what's not to love? They are just beautiful---

    ReplyDelete
  104. Ooooh so looking forward to the release tomorrow. Top of my list is the music collection, closely followed by the Nutcracker Sweet or will it be the trees? Oh, decisions...

    ReplyDelete
  105. How to possibly pick a favorite of these?!?! I am going to have to go with the nutcrackers. I love nutcrackers and love Christmas so much! The half pint heros are great too though and perfect to make notes for my son so it's a VERY close second!

    ReplyDelete
  106. Such fun new sets, Claire! I have to confess that 'wee man' has captured my heart - he's adorable!
