... Day 1 - Midnight Feast and Wanda's Pantry

I'm late!! I'm late!! but it's here at last! If you haven't seen already check out these links to see what the DT girls did with the new Halloween sets!!! today have: Lisa, Julia, Lynn, Anya, Bonnie, Mona, Jennifer, Laurie. Did you notice Mona!!!!! Our newest DT gal!! make sure to pop over and give her a warm welcome!!
I had this idea for a set of labels that I could use for Halloween in two ways. I could use the labels to dress up jars/bottles/containers for use as decorative items around the house as Halloween Decor, but they could also do double duty for gift treat packaging! Fab! I'll be releasing this clear photopolymer stamp set and another on the 27th.

I called it Wanda's Pantry because the labels would reflect the sorts of things I imagine Wanda (my witch from last years Halloween Party set) would have in her store cupboards LOL. We have things like Bat Droppings (that you can see above). An essential ingredient for any self respecting witch or wizard, I chose to use the label to dress up little candy drops, you could use it for jelly beans, chocolate covered peanuts, raisins, loads of little droppy, poopy shaped sweets could be packaged in this way! LOL.

I used one of those little jars from Ikea, you know the wee flat sided ones that we buy for buttons etc! lol, I used a jar because this is an item for my Halloween table! For candy giveaways you'll want a less permanent packaging like the wee wax bags below.

For my jar I stamped and clear embossed the Bat poop twice tag onto kraft card and purple card and then punched them out with two punches, a 1.75 and a 2 inch, and then layered them, the kraft tag was sponged with rusty hinge distress ink.

I cut out a spiky mat with my spellbinders pinked circle die templates, Spellbinders have a shape for everything!

For my giveaway bags, I dressed up some plain white waxed food bags and popped on some tags from the Midnight Feast set, also releasing on the 27th. Midnight Feast contains lots of traditional food related tags and elements. You can see three of them above, they all fit either the 1.75 inch or 2 inch punches or the Spellbinders circle die templates.

I mostly stamped in black versafine ink and clear embossed, i love the texture this gives and it has the added benefit of not 'running' when you sponge colour over it.

Love this cool font!

The mat for this tag was cut with Spellbinders Labels 6 die templates. I cut two mats the same and secured them either side with red brads, I made sure to fit them around the bag before securing.

I wanted a fancy mat for my green tag, something a little different and so I cut a mat with a Blossom die template, which i consider a 'friendly' shape, I then punched a half circle from each 'petal' to give it a slightly more edgy look, you could do this with loads of the Spellbinder die templates, with different size/shaped small punches, a whole new batch of shapes waiting to be made! The larger scalloped shapes that Spellbinders released last season would be fab with this!

I just ran the wax bags through an embossing folder and then inked them up a little to give them a little more 'body' lol, think it works quite well!

Phew hope it tickles!!

  13. You've been up to your tricks again, Claire, and the results are a treat for all of us. The stamps are so unique with incredible fonts (as usual), clever labels (S. Lyme & Co.'s partially decomposed fingers), and fabulous images (vampire label). And then you share your inventiveness with altered die cuts and embossed wax bags. How lucky for us. Thank you.
