...it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

I was very touched by all of the comments left for this post, and I don't mind telling you I was glad of the random selector. This little competition sure reminded me that we're all fighting our own battles, some winning, some struggling. I wish each and every one of you the very best of luck and life. Thank you all for taking the time to leave a comment.

And the winner (by random selector) was commentor number 24:

Wow!! Your tree looks gorgeous!!

Iam proud to donate cards I make for my local neo-natal unit, I give them to the nurses so they can put a baby photograph on to give to the parents. I know how much this means, I was one of those parents, my son was not expected to live - he is 3 now!!

Over at Moxiefabworld blog today Cath Edvalson is showing sneak peeks from Papercrafts Holiday cards and more, I love that nutcracker and that wee card from Alli Miles is way too cute, but look - what's that peeping out behind? Is that a wee tree???? 'course it is, I should know, I made it!!!! WWWOOOHOOOO.

So in honour of blowing your own trumpet and celebrating my first ever Mag cover, I want you to leave me a comment telling me what you've done lately that you are proud of, you might have saved a bumble bee from extinction or you might have produced a brand new baby - or you might have just had a card published, anything at all!! Love to hear.

I will pick a random comment, tomorrow night to win a free stampset!!!! WWWOOOHHHOOO!!

  4. Congratulations on the cover contribution. Your work is so absolutely lovely!

I'm proud of the fact that, following what seemed like an extended dry spell, I finally got around to creating some cards while I waited for biopsy results from recent surgery (and got good news on that front). And today is my birthday -- so I'm glad to put these last few months behind me and start a fresh year!

  5. It might sound trivial to some, but I made it home from Ireland without using my full baggage allowance. (we were allowed 7 bags with DH, myself, DD and the "baby" and I only used 6) This is absolutely unheard of for me, but I'm kicking myself knowing I could have packed another bag full of potato bread, soda bread, Veda and pancakes, LOL!

The one thing I did was to leave 6 days early of my vacation to take care of my Father who had to have a double bypass. I was gone from home for over a month, but family comes first in my book. The good Lord took care of him, so he can stay here with us on Earth. I'm proud to have a Father such as mine. Alice R.

  40. Congratulations!! I do not have enough of my own design mojo to submit anything yet!! I tend to CASE things outright, or use them as a jumping off point. I think I need to work more from sketches.

Today my friend and I were driving down a country road, and we saw a little dog running down the road. We stopped, and the second she opened her door, he hopped in on her lap, then across to mine. We did find his home!!

  42. CONGRATULATIONS Claire! That is so awesome!! I love seeing your creative projects and your new stamp sets. Keep 'em coming!

Now for the blowing your own horn part...I am a SAHM to 3 small children, the oldest of which I am homeschooling for the 5th straight year. AND I am in my last year of college for my accounting degree. I took an upper level tax course this summer (so twice as intensive as normal) and got the high score not once, but twice including on the comprehensive final!!

Now what's so awesome about this is that I really slacked the last half of the class. Started getting burnt out and couldn't get motivated to read or do the homework. But I studied about 8 hours for the final and PRAYED and God blessed me! The Lord is so AWESOME!! With everything that's been going on in my life, Jesus knew exactly how to speak into my storm and make the sunshine appear.

Here's to many more magazine covers for you Claire!!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Oh Congratulations. That is awesome! I will look for you when I get my copy.

  44. Congrats to you!

I recently took a job after being laid off for 6 months. Not a dream job. As a matter of fact, pretty much a nightmare for me, but I came across a common saying: bloom where you are planted. I'm trying to do just that, seeing the glass as half-full again and learning to not hate my job. For that I am proud!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Wow! Congratulations! And to be on the COVER!!!! How exciting! I'm proud and excited that I was just published for the very first time in a magazine!!!

  50. WooHoo! You're a Cover Girl and that tree is adorable! Congratulations!

I recently learned how to can my own green beans. Been canning pickles and tomatoes for years but never had the opportunity to use a Pressure Canner before. I live 5000 feet above sea level so I had to bring the pressure up to 15 PSI. I did it without blowing anything up! WOOT!

  57. You are clever Claire - we are very proud of you! Funny you should mention the bee - my nephew made a wasp trap this week from a plastic bottle and some flat cola. He doesn't know it but I've been setting them free when he wasn't looking! And even saved the life of one that had fallen in the cola - I don't care who knows it either.... I think wasps are very clever little creatures and deserve their short lives - they eat most of the aphids on my veggie plants too!

  58. I also really like your work and I love your pictures of Ireland - it brings back happy memories of overseas holidays with hubby! I have just uploaded my first piece of work onto my (new) blog; it's a bit like going on a first date, isn't it?!!

  60. You are just going to town aren't you! I would be doing back flips if it were me with a project on a cover! How cool is that! I'm so proud of you! I'm proud of the fact that I have been able to rearrange finances so that I haven't had to work for over a year since I was downsized. I have been able to use that time to make my partner's quality of life a lot better (he has MS and in a wheelchair). Any way, Congrats Kiddo! You are the coolest! Best, Curt

Oh my goodness, I can't believe that this is your first time being published. Your creations are so wonderful, that I assumed that you had already been published and more than once.

I am very proud of having two ladies over at splitcoast put my Chubby owl card (which can be seen on my blog) on the Clean and Simple Cards weekly favorites list last week or so (bad memory). I feel honored. Love your stamp designs, I hope that I can afford to purchase some of them soon.

  85. Congrats on the PaperCrafts cover, Claire! I bought my copy almost a week ago, but have yet to delve into it...can't wait to see your project in detail! And what am I most proud of? My first impulse is to say I've absolutely NOTHING...I've been in low gear lately, which I can basically sum up as menopausal anxiety. But I guess I'm proud that despite feeling so low much of the time, I am still functioning as a Mom (and a pretty good one, at that), keeping up w/the laundry, and exercising my brain with TONS of reading and crosswords! Now if I could just put my creative hat back on and get into the stamping swing again...Oh well, all in due time! Congrats again!
