ED -yup, I'm prepping a wee tutorial for how to cut the panel on the witch card!! Ta for asking ladies!Welcome to day two of our previews for the new Waltzingmouse Stamps due for release on Tueday! Two new sets of clear photopolymer stamps!! We're having a little early Halloween fun! lol, mostly because I just felt like it! I love to decorate for Halloween, usually I leave it too late but this year, I'll be ready!!!
Today, DT ladies also previewing with me are:
Julia,
Lynn,
Anya,
Bonnie,
Mona,
Jennifer,
Belindacan't wait to see! lol
So to start with today I have a little salad oil jug, picked it up in a charity shop for 50p, sterilized it, which is the neat thing about glass, I can confidently say it is clean now...lol!
We'll have some 'decomposed' salad at our Halloween table and this wee jug will be perfect, we (me and smaller girlie) filled it with some olive oil and then we threw in a few drops of green food colouring, give it a quick stir and you have some 'warty oil' lol! perfect for my Irish Toad oil label (
Wanda's Pantry set)! lol.
I stamped with versamark and used gold embossing powder on light green card, sponged on some cracked glass distress ink and then punched out the label with a 2 inch punch. A spiky mat made with a Spellbinders pinked circle die template to finish the tag. I felt I wanted a little something extra and so I cut out two foil leaves (Spellbinders leaves die templates) sanded them a little and inked them with cracked glass distress ink. As it was foil, it doesn't really sink in but i felt that it did 'take' a little and was worth doing. I adhered them behind the label.
Isn't this cool? lol! You can have a lot of fun just making witch type potions and mixtures for your Halloween table, although watch the strength of the food colouring, I spent a full half hour last night removing huge red stains for my little daughters hands, lol, after she mixed up some 'innards' for me! LOL!
Och poor old Wanda, she's a lonely soul and over the years has perfected her particular blend of 'Love Potion #9'. The poor oul critter takes a bottle to every party she's invited to...
This fabby Love potion Label (
Wanda's Pantry) looks great simply stamped (show ya later) or coloured, I used copics here, I stamped in black and clear embossed, the cardstock was pale pink slightly textured card, bit like watercolour paper. I've been itching to colour in these swirly bits! lol! Wouldn't this look great on a Valentines card? and if your host had a sense of humour you could dress up a wine bottle as a hostess gift for any party!
You might have your own home brew like us (lol, lemonade with a drop of pink food colouring) or you might use a purhcased drink, any sort of coloured drink would do. You can colour the label to match or just sponge a bit of colour on.
I made a wee card in similar colours this time using stamps from
Midnight Feast. I love that witch in an apron! lol, In our house Halloween is all about the food, it seemed a natural thing to put an apron on a witch! Wanda is too set in her ways and wouldn't wear it but her younger sister Wendy (below) was happy to oblige. I also wanted a spooky Halloween style 'From my Kitchen' sentiment as Halloween seems to bring out the baker in me!
I used the sentiment to create a pattern for the back ground panel. Heavily sponged! Fave thing to do right now!
The witch is stamped in black and clear embossed, I then coloured the moon green around her. Punched out with a 1.75 inch punch and matted on a 2 inch purple card circle. I put her onto a little panel cut with a Spellbinders labels 13 die template. I cut the top of the background panel with a larger Labels 13 die template so that it would match the focal point.
A little tag to finish!
Hope they tickle!

ReplyDeleteLOVE these Claire!! How did you do the larger label on the card, I mean just cutting the top portion like that? I love the way that looks!!
ReplyDeleteExquisite Claire! Your new releases are amazing...your work here to highlight them is stunning! Thank You for everything. I have a question about your technique on the witch label -- how do you cut the top of the panel with Labels 13 without cutting the whole label out? I can't visualize or imagine how to do that. I hope you can answer to this technique... thanks again Claire.
ReplyDeleteClaire, you've got to be the most fun mum around-lol!

ReplyDeletethose two sets are screaming more than just Halloween. i'm already brainstorming on how to stretch these stamps, and the love potion and lil with as well as the oil are superb. love 'em already.
Claire,
ReplyDeleteyou are such a creative person! not only great art work, but add to that the great stories (Wanda won't wear the apron, but her sister Wendy will:) You're a doll: I'll bet your kids have a blast with the wonderful stories that you tell!! You do a great job! Wish the world was smaller and all us stamp crazies could meet easily for get-togethers; what fun that would be:)
Looking forward to the next post: you're probably just getting it ready now as it is tomorrow for you, but just getting bed time here in Calif.
Have a GREAT week!
