Moxie Fab Stamp of Approval feature!
Join our Nice List
I have a couple of ideas for tiny treats to show you later on today, you can see a little taster above, but first I want to invite you to
play along with our Christmas comment competition.
Last year we did this for the first time and it was wonderful - It's easy, no making required. Here's how it works:
Leave a comment on this post telling me who is top of your 'Nice List' this year - it could be anyone, a teacher, a co-worker, the guy who delivers your milk. I want to hear who is top of your 'Nice List' and why - I'll start you off.
Top of my list this year are my next door neighbours. In particular Mr G. Aside from being the nicest folks on the planet, Mr G has just finished completely revamping my prized possession - my solid oak Welsh Dresser. This Dresser has been a favourite of mine, I bought it around 9 years ago for around £100 at auction, I love it.
Here's what it looked like before, I did love the antique wood finish, but it was a little overpowering in our small house and I really felt it was time for a change:
Here's what it looks like now:
I love it!! I am so chuffed!! Mr G sanded it, painted it, sanded it some more, painted it and painted it again and fixed up the handles and made it pretty, It looks great in real life, so fresh and clean!! He really took time over it and the finish is superb. Thank you Mr G.
So Mr G. is now top of my nice list :) Who is top of yours?
Leave your comment at the end of this post.
The Prizes
You have until Tuesday the 20th December to leave your comment and then I will pick a random winner - The winner will win two prizes - one for themselves, which will be 4 large sets of stamps of their choice!!! and one for the person in their comment who is top of their nice list!! we may have to get creative if your Nice list buddy is not crafty, but if they are, they too will win 4 large sets!!!
So, let's hear about your Nice List nominees!!!
Claire your dresser is fab! The top of my nice list is my daughter's best friend's mother- Nancy. Nancy is helping us out by watching not only my daughter but also my son, which is above and beyond the call! She is always so sweet to help out when I can't get right to the school to pick up the kids. This week alone she is helping out to days in a row! Super nice, that is!
ReplyDeleteI think Mr G is the top of my "Nice" list too, your dresser looks wonderful!
ReplyDeleteBut I think I am going to have to say my husband Ian. He puts up with me endlessly card-making but knows that someone working in the scientific field REALLY does need an artistic outlet. He has made me a divine ribbon holder and between him and my father-in-law they are going to remodel the study into my craft "studio" for which I am very grateful.
Oh my goodness, this is really fabulous, and almost as good as mine. My first choise this year is definitely my hubby, who I just celebrated the 35th anniversay with here the other day. He have just made my christmasgift which is this awesome new craftroom here:
ReplyDeletehttp://maryannla.multiply.com/photos/album/427/The_latest_update_on_my_craftroom.
And there´s just nothing, that can beat this this year, that´s for sure, so now I know, where I´ll be living all next year ha ha ha.
Have a wonderful christmas everyone.
Love your dresser!
ReplyDeleteThe top of my Nice list is Colleen, a stamper in my neighborhood who is always lending a hand to me. Whether it is inviting me to craft with her or dropping off homemade Christmas cookies, sending my mom a card, or giving me her breadmaker (!), she is so sweet and kind. And a great cardmaker too! Merry Christmas Claire. You were Maxie Fab before Maxie Fab existed!
Hello Claire
ReplyDeleteThis competition is the best! So, the persons who are at the top of my nice list are ... who else, my two kids Olga, 11 years old and Lucas 7 years old, who love my creations and of course your stamp sets. They really want to have them all!!!
Thanks for the chance to win such a wonderful gift!
Merry Christmas to all!!!
Mary Poutou
PoutouM@piraeusbank.gr
So clean and bright, I love it! Thanks for the chance to win! cjdempsey9 at msn dot com
ReplyDeleteCongrats on being featured over at Moxie Fab!!!! I'm so excited for you! At the top of my nice list this year has to be my Mom. She is always there to lend an ear when I need it. It doesn't matter if I'm sharing good news or bad, she just encourages me and understands. Oh, and she has more stamps than I do and lets me borrow when I need too! She would absolutely love some of your beautiful stamps!
ReplyDeleteI would have to nominate my friend Archie- she was an absolute rock when I needed her- she called me up when I needed to talk and provided a shoulder to cry on and THEN organised a wonderful day of crafting to make everything all better! I wubs her I do!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm blessed with so many wonderful family members and friends, but the top of my nice list is my dear daughter-in-law, a fellow stamp-loving, quilt making and soon-to-be mama to my first grandbaby. Can't get any nicer than that. :-)
ReplyDeleteP.S. Was so glad to see Waltzingmouse featured on the Moxie Fab blog today.
Wow, that dresser is amazing, what a beautiful transformation. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to express our Nice List. For me, that has to be my blogging pal, Jen. I've never met her in real life but she's a great friend. Not only is she a great crafter and so supportive of what I do, she offered to post a few mandatory projects for me on her blog when mine went down, and was just as sympathetic to my woes as I was. Now that is dedication and friendship in its truest form!
ReplyDeleteThat dresser is amazing Claire!! So wonderful that you have such great neighbors :). The top of my list... my Mom! She is ALWAYS helping me out, especially when I need it most. She has a lot of stress in her life, being my Dad's primary source for EVERYTHING (he's disabled), and yet, she's in the process of planning a family cruise - for which I am SO grateful, as my little family wouldn't otherwise have the opportunity for a vacation away. She's the best!! I'm BEYOND blessed to have her as my Mom :)
ReplyDeleteThat's a fab piece of furniture you've got there, Claire. Wow! As for a top nice person for me, that would have to be my friend Denise. She's always there for me. I can call her anytime (and I do mean anytime of the day or night). It's so wonderful to know that I have someone in my corner who always supports me, and backs me every step of the way--but also calls me out when I'm totally off the mark!
ReplyDeleteHi Claire and friends! How am I supposed to have just one name? I have a bevy of good elves in my life that I am very thankful to have. My mom (who just visited from 1100 miles away), my crafting buddy Deb, my neighbors who help with my somewhat challenging son. And the husband who pitches in with what he can even though job loss is hanging over his head at work. So my nice list is a mile long and that is a good thing. Enjoy the season in whatever way is best for you and yours!
ReplyDeleteLove the dresser redo, Claire! Tres chic!
ReplyDeleteAt the top of my nice list is my hubster Ryan! He's super awesome and did quite a few awesome things this year including building up my craft area with pegboard and gutters (for ribbon), buying me flowers and wine for no reason at all, and driving my girlfriend and I 2000 miles so that we could road trip like fools! He also pretended not to care when I drained all of our savings to go to Europe! Best guy ever! (I only emptied the rainy day fun, we'll still get to retire! :D)
For what it's worth, I've always thought you were Moxie Fab...
ReplyDeleteThis year's top of the list is my son's pre-school teacher Miss Melinda. I love her to begin with (and my 6 year daughter and her 6 year old son have been "engaged" for 3 years or so) but 3 weeks ago she heard her cousins children were being taken by the state and couldn't bare the thought of that. Her husband (who shares the top spot) said "Go get them." And so, with the state's blessing, she now has a 3 week old baby who was born addicted to meth and a four year old who has been living in chaos. We miss her at school (she has had to take a leave of absence) but it makes me cry just to think of her heart. She has three children of her own already but she unflinchingly jumped in and equally, I'm sure she loves these kids already.
Can't wait to read who else has been Nice this year!
My sister has been just great, especially since the birth of my daughter last month :)
ReplyDeleteMy Mom is definitely on the top of my nice list this year. Last weekend she watched our two year old for 4 days while my hubby and I took a little mini get away for my birthday. Looking after a crazy toddler for four days definitely deserves some new stamps (my Mom is a crafter too) LOL!! Thanks so much for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteYour dresser looks fantastic, Claire.
ReplyDeleteI'd never thought that I would put my ex on the very top of my Nice list. Last summer I ended up in a hospital with broken pelvis and not only that he took care of our son (wich is normal), but he also took care of me, when I got back from the hospital. In the first couple of weeks I couldn't even put socks on by myself, so without him,I would be helpless.
Top of my nice list is one of my really good friends, Crista. She has been a real support when DH is out of town and helps whenever I am in a pinch. She always sees the good in everything (the silver lining that is sometimes hard for me to see).
ReplyDeleteYour dresser is beautiful, Mr. G did a wonderful job! My friend Brenda is at the top of my nice list. She has several challenges going on in her life right now but is never too busy to offer a kind word or lend an ear, or help out in any way. She always has a smile on her face and is just a real dear person to me.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that dresser!!! Congrats on being featured at Moxie Fab-your stamps really are the best Claire! I am blessed with many "nice" people in my life but without ? the top of my list is my Mom. She has spent most of this year helping a sister-like neighbor who's gone thru serious health issues. And yet my Mom still helps several others, without taking much time for herself.I'd love to spend more time with her and get her more involved in cardmaking. Thanks so much for the chance to win x2!
ReplyDeleteWow, what a great way to share your beautiful stamps. Iwould have to say the person on my nice list would be my stamping friend, Joyce. We have never met, but we email each other almost daily. She is so creative and grounded. It would be an honor to share these stamps with her.
ReplyDeleteClaire - that dresser is STUNNING, no wonder you are chuffed with it and Mr G is a treasure!
ReplyDeleteTop of my Nice List is my eldest's teacher Mrs W - she is providing a support to my son that is second to none - encouraging him, praising him and challenging him all at the same time. She is a treasure and I am blessed that she is his teacher this year.
At the top of my nice list is my boss, Becky. Not only is it a blast to work for her, but she gives me tons of scheduling flexibility when needed to care for my Father. It's the best of all worlds!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful thing to see your post (and I love the dresser!!) and the feature on Moxie Fab today! Top of my nice list is my husband for sure (and he is definitely not crafty, lol!) We've had a challenging year and he has been by my side and involved in "girlie" dr apts and other "stuff" WAY more than one man should have to be! Through it all he has been a willing participant and a wonderful rock for me. His support and love has been so uplifting and I thank God for him every single day (or if I don't, I should!) Merry Christmas!!
ReplyDeleteYour dresser looks gorgeous!! He would be at the top of my list also!! But on the top of my nice list is my husband!! I was laid off from my job a little over a year ago and still have not found another job! We have had to give up alot of things this past year and there has never been a grip or any ill will about me not having a job yet!! He listens to all my gripes about job hunting and complaining about not being able to buy something because the money is not there!! He has been my rock!! He makes me want to get up everyday and look for a job!! Also congrats on being featured today on the Moxie Fab blog!! You deserve it!!
ReplyDeleteOh what a lovely competition! Who's top of my Nice List? There are so many people who've been so supportive to me this year - friends from craft club, Scouts and the village, not forgetting my blog friends. But top of my Nice List has to be my husband, Jonathan. He's my best friend. He is kind, loving, generous, funny and my mate. Oh yes, he turns a blind eye when he sees a new crafting parcel :)
ReplyDeleteClaire - great feature on Moxie World. And your dresser is magnificent. If you could just parcel up Mr G and send him to me - I've got a few jobs for him!!!
The person that tops my nice list is Alan, my step dad. He is always calling to remind my brother and I about things we need to do to maintain our cars and if my husband is busy, Alan arranges to come over and do it himself. Alan also works on our church building and vehicles. Alan also works on church members cars. If I knew of someone in my neighborhood that needed car work done, Alan would volunteer. That's just the kind of guy he is. It doesn't matter if he doesn't know you or not, if you have a need and he can fill it--which he usually can--he's right there to help. Alan does all of this with a happy heart and he does not charge anyone for his God given talents.
ReplyDeleteOn the top of my nice list is my boss. Not only does she provide an awesome and fun place to work, but she gives me incredible schedule flexibility when needed to care for my father. It's almost not like work, I enjoy it so much!
ReplyDeleteTop of my nice list... tough to pick just one this year. But I have to say I am just SO grateful to Shirley, my mother in law, because she has really filled in the hole that my own mother just can't - now *there's* a long story. Shirley has shown me what love and family is supposed to look like, and I know without hesitation that I wouldn't be the mother - PERSON - I am if not for her love and support. I am SO grateful for her and don't know what I would do without her.
ReplyDeleteWauw, your neighbour is very good at this! That dresser is supergorgeous! Love it! It was great before as well, but even more gorgeous now!! My hubby Pim is always very nice to me, so he's high on the list always, but on top of my nice list this year is my best friend Marit! She was my best friend before, but since she also started crafting, we became even more close and we share even more and that made me enjoy her sweet presence even more!! She has had a challenging and busy year, but never forgets about others and I always admire that in her! She's so sweet to me and just feels when I need an uplifting card! Her timing is perfect! So, my friend Marit is on top of my nice list!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Wendy
Well, I think top of my nice list would have to be ...... Pauline Pollington! Since setting up my own little blog, Pauline has been so supportive in many ways, not only is she enthusiastic but she is always reliable and full of suggestions. I really have appreciated her support. A true gem! :)
ReplyDeleteIf I could pick the top of my nice list it would be all the fabulous people I've met on line this year through Waltzingmouse! Yes! That is how we are all connected!! I just started blogging in May and I am so thankful for all the people who have encouraged me to do my best and try to do things that I thought were beyond my reach! I feel so blessed to have met them.
ReplyDeleteClaire I'm going through a very unhappy time just now that has turned my nice list upside down. But though things are very dark my friends are there and top of my nice list is my friend Morag who is a true friend indeed with a shoulder to cry on, she is just the best person there is.
ReplyDeleteWow, this is such a great and fun idea! Top of my nice list would be my BFF. It's not one large act that she does, but a million random little things that make our friendship work despite our busy and different lives. I love her to bits!
ReplyDeleteHi Claire
ReplyDeleteMaybe Mr.G could be the prize:-) I sure would like a neigbour like him. On top of my "nice list" is my best friend Elisabeth. We make a lot of cardmaking and scrapping together. We have so much fun and we always share stamps and other materials, that way we can try lots of new things because we don´t purchase the same stuff. Ansa
This is such a hard one but since we're talking "craftyness" here....I'm going to say at the top of my Nice list is a dear blog friend of mine......Renee. She knew I was debating on purchasing an American Girl Doll for my daughter for Christmas this year and in the mail she sent me a "Kit" book and movie for my daughter!!! Now, I've never met Renee in person but she has a heart of gold. I sure hope that we can meet in person someday!! Hugs my friend!
ReplyDeleteSince this is a "crafty" blog, I have chosen 4 people to be on my very special "nice" list. No way to narrow it down any further. These four people lend me support nearly every single day, loan me supplies, leave wonderful comments on my blog, cheer me up when I am having a tough time with my elderly parents and lately, my husband who has gone deaf in one ear. So, to Renee, Joyce, Kim and Jeanne J, thanks so much for being a bright spot in my life. I truly value your friendship.
ReplyDeleteThe furniture piece looks wonderful! My sweet hubby Dave is definitely on my nice list! He's always very kind to me (can't say that I'm always that way to him unfortunately, although I try). He's infinitely patient with my foibles and follies, he's always there when I need a listening ear, and he shows his love for me in a million little ways throughout the year. I've very blessed!
ReplyDeleteAt the top of my nice list is a woman who works for me. This employee was on the short-list for firing and the owner was convinced that "people don't change." But I asked her to call me after hours and I spoke to her about the things that were problems! She started changing the very next day and now is my assistant and I don't know what I would do without her. Not only did she nicely accept the critisim, but in the four months since that time she has never mentioned it and has become everybody's go to girl!! It does not usually work that way!
ReplyDeleteit's hard to pick just one person to top my list! but i would have to go with my mum of course!! she's always been the best mum three girls could ask for, but now she is also the best granny her two granddaughters could ask for! she is always happy to help others and has started a breakfast programme at the local elementary school, she also opens her home to others who are alone at christmas; she always says 'what's one more (or three or four...) when we already have 15 coming for dinner?' my mum is the embodiment of christmas spirit!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas everyone!
Christine K.
The person that is top of my nice list this year is my wonderful Mum.
ReplyDeleteWe have been through a very tough time this last year because I have been very ill with a long term chronic illness that has flared up. My Mum has practically quit her job to look after me 24/7 and she constantly does everything she can to try and improve my situation for me. I can categorically say that without her support this year I don't think I would be here to write this comment! There aren't enough words to express how thankful I am to her for all that she has done for me, not only in the last year but in my entire life; she has always been there to support me. My Mum even helps me to craft because I don't always have the energy or strength to do the things I want to. We joke and say that she is my arms and legs but honestly a lot of the time it's true! She is my Rock and my best friend and I am truly blessed to have a Mum like her.
Thank you for this wonderful opportunity.
Happy Holidays to you all!
Lucy
Absolutely the lady (Ms F) who works the post office 6am shift right up the street from me.... she knows which packages are important to me and gives me a call if she comes across something I might like to pick up on the way to work, what a doll!!!
ReplyDeleteThat dresser is wonderful - love the white and natural combination! Hard to say but the top of my nice list this year would be my dear friend Michelle. You see my Mom passed away in July after being in a nursing home for the past 1 1/2 years due to Alzheimer's. She made a point to attend the wake and funeral putting names to all my family and friend's faces from back home. Not a big deal except I am one of 6 siblings and 4 of us are married with children. She does not drive long distances on the highway so got another friend to drive her since my Mom lived 3 hours away. It was so special and seeing her walk into the Funeral home right as we were ending the afternoon service was such a blessing. She is so thoughtful towards all her friends - I admire the skill she has at keeping in touch with everyone and when you are with her she makes you feel you are the 'king of the hill'. She is one special lady and I am blessed to call her my friend. Michelle is at the top of my 'Nice List'!
ReplyDeleteOh, this is wonderful to recognise all the nice people out there. I think my husband tops the list for me. He has been working very hard of late under difficult circumstances and stays so calm and cool and helps around the house with the kids as well. Pretty special.
ReplyDeleteI just re read about the prize. My husband is a doll but certainly isn't after any stamps. So, I would nominate the lovely Joan Bardee as top of my nice list for being a terrific daughter and mother and crafter.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful dresser!!
ReplyDeleteOn the top of my nice list is my sister-in-law Louise. On December 1, while vacationing with my husband and daughter a pipe in our home broke causing a flood. We were notified by the homeowners association after the fire department broke into the house and shut off the electric and water.
I called my sister-in-law, who in turn contacted the insurance company, filed a claim, let in work crews to begin drying out the house, saved the food in the freezer and stopped by the my home every day while I was on vacation to make sure things were secure after the damage done.
I'm back from vacation, and without a home, but without her help it would have been much worse. She is right at the top of my nice list!!!
Beautiful dresser! Mr. G did a superb job.
ReplyDeleteAt the top of my nice list is my husband. Of course, he is not crafty in the least so my second nice list person is Tammy. Tammy is mother to 4 children, two biological, one adopted, and one foster. She doesn't have much time to craft but she does love it!
Wow Mr G did a GREAT job!! I'd love to be have a neighbour like Mr G. On top of my nice list would be my friend Christine. I've known her a long time but this year we really got to know each other better. We both look after our aging parents and it's great to have a little support group, as she calls it. She also enjoys making cards which is a bonus! Thanks for your generosity, Claire! I truly appreciate it.
ReplyDeleteWow Mr G is talented ... your dresser looks fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI'm am going to have to say the peron on the top of my 'nice' list is my husband Mick. He puts up with me dispearing for hours on end into my craftroom and believe me the housework suffers LOL
He's moved everything around in that room several times this year so I can have it 'just right'. Last Christmas he built me a fantastic ink pad holder and I know he's currently working on a ribbon holder to go with it :O)
He really is a star, a rock ... my best friend
My friend, Pat, is at the top of my nice list this year. I am lucky enough to have made her acquaintance earlier this year and over cardstock and ink, we have bonded. She introduced me to Waltzingmouse and I haven't looked back since! :o) As I am learning more about the art of stamping and cardmaking, she has been so gracious and supportive. I look forward to every opportunity we have to escape the everyday for a little crafty time. She is an amazing and accomplished woman and I feel so blessed to count her among my friends.
ReplyDeleteYour dresser looks beautiful Claire! I think my Mom would be at the top of my nice list. Our kitchen was out of commission recently, and it was Mom that brought us trays of yummy homemade food!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a fun competition Claire!
Chris L.
My neighbours are at the top of my list! They both work at home and are always offering to help out with my 2 young kids, whether it's taking one of them to school while I have to be at the preschool, or picking up a few groceries if they're out and about... I don't know what I'd do without them! One is a piano teacher so the Musical Backgrounds would be ideal for him!
ReplyDeleteMost definately my dad! I recently lost my job (don't worry, it's become a bit of a blessing in disguise...I hated it). When I went home last weekend, the first thing he said to me is "Tell me how much you need to get your card business going and it's yours." Now being as I have everything I need to get started and more, I took no $ from him, but it was great to have him show me that kind of support and belief that I can make it! He's the absolute best!
ReplyDeleteClaire your dresser looks wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI love this Nice List idea! It is difficult to choose one person but I am going to go with my crafty friend Lynn who has had a difficult year with lots of stress at work which ended in her taking redundancy. Even though she has little money to spare she is such an incredibly generous person and always thinks of others before herself. It would be lovely for her to receive something special this Christmas and know that others think of her too.
Sarah x
I have to say it is my husband who is always so generous and supportive of everything I do. I am forever chasing him around the house showing him my little creations at all hours of the night and day and he is always there with a smile and advice. Just couldn't be without him.
ReplyDeleteLove your dresser by the way how lucky you are to have such nice and talented neighbors.
Marie
I think my dear husband is on the top of my nice list for all the hoops he goes through every year to make such a perfect Christmas for our family. That piece must have taken Mr. G ages to re-do, but it is so gorgeous! Wishing you all at WMS a very blessed Christmas!
ReplyDeleteHi, top of my nice list is Angela! I have just come out of hospital after having my gall bladder removed and she, despite having various health problems of her own, offered to come round to do my housework for me! Obviously I didn't take the offer up, but it was so nice of her just to care.
ReplyDeletewhat a gorgeous dress and so sweet of your neighbor to refurbish it for you!! the person at the top of my nice list is a fellow blogger and "friend i haven't met yet". i "met" sue through a flickr group and i have had the best time this year getting to know her. she leaves me the most incredibly wonderful comments and generally just cheers me on. she has also sent me wonderful handmade cards and little goodies. if i ever get a chance to visit new zealand where she lives i am so making sure we get to meet!! wishing you and your family a wonderful Christmas!!
ReplyDeleteWhat gorgeous woodwork! I love the look of wood but I do understand what too much looks like- it can be overwhelming!
ReplyDeleteMy best friend is on my nice list.
She's a busy, busy gal but always has the time to chat. I love when we get together and just have fun- her hubby thinks we have a secret language - lol! She deserves all the kindness sent her way as she truly is a best friend in every sense - which is why I love her.
Gosh, I forgot to congratulate you on the Moxie Fab award! Your designs are wonderful and they clearly speak volumes. Good on ya, Claire!
ReplyDeleteOn the top of my list this year is my friend, Jennifer. She has helped me improve my crafting skills so much since just meeting her a year ago! She knows I can't afford to take Copics classes, so she has allowed me to trade "services" for them. (I put together her cards kits for upcoming classes!) I know she doesn't have to so this. And she's been there as a real friend, besides. She LOVES to stamp and craft, so this would be a perfect holiday gift for her, too!
ReplyDeleteJust love your dresser - the makeover has really made it look stunning!
ReplyDeleteThe person at the top of my nice list would be my friend Linda. We've not seen each other as much as we'd like this year, but I know she's always there if I need a good gossip!
What a transformation with your dresser, Claire!!! It looks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteTop of my nice list would have to be my friend and colleague, Anji. This year has had some lows and she's the rock that's always been there to pick me up. She makes me laugh til I cry, provides me with the most scrumptious treats with her baking and is full of wisdom too :)
I recently made her a set of cards to thank her for her support and she too now has the stamping bug ;D
Thanks for the chance to win a fabulous prize (You come pretty high up on the nice list too of course LOL!)
Hugs,
Aimes

First...
ReplyDeletethat dresser is absolutely stunning!!
Please tell Mr. G he is amazingly talented...
and I wish he was my neighbor! :)
Second...
CONGRATS on being Moxie Fab...
but that was news we already knew...
just so glad everyone else now knows;)
Third...
nice list...?
My hubby has to be on it...
just because he puts up with me...
but he doesn't like stamps so he doesn't count...
*giggle*!
And I am the luckiest person alive...
an incredible family...
health...
and to have made such incredible friends in the last year since starting my own little piece of real estate in blogland...
I'm so extremely blessed!
And all because of this hobby(obsession?).
These are my tops...
in no particular order because they are all special to me...
Cathy, Joyce, Kim, Amy, Suzanne, Sharron...
if I win...
they get to divide all the sets between them! :)
Does Mr. G like to travel?....dresser looks great!! Top of my nice list...My SISTER, Julie, who ALWAYS tries to help other people out - neighbors, friends, family, co-workers, homeless people on the street, you name it. She's extremely thoughtful - runs errands for others, helps those who need it out financially, etc. I nominate her not because of any one thing she does, but because she is constantly helping someone(s) every week, on top of being a single mom with a full-time job who homeschools her kids as well. I do not think it is not easy to "be" Julie, but she manages to help others along the way despite her super-crunched schedule.
ReplyDeleteHi Claire.
ReplyDeleteHave to nomiminate my crafty friend Ruth. I teach craft classes but don't always have enough crafty gear to go around. Ruth very kindly loans me dies, stamps, ink pads, embossing folders etc. etc. so that everything runs smoothly. What a friend, not sure I'd manage without her help.
Thanks for the chance to win.
Karen
At the top of my "nice" list this year are my assistants at school. I got sick and missed the annual Winter Holiday assembly where my kids were performing. They handled it like the pro's they are and all went off without a hitch...even without me running the show. I am ever so grateful to them! Thanks so much for the chance to win, Claire! Happy Holidays to all!
ReplyDeleteI have the nicest mail carrier on the planet. She is always cheerful, doesn't mash mail into the box and even bothers to put a brick on the mail that she places on our bench! If everyone did their job as well as she does hers....well, quite a world it would be!
ReplyDeleteMy mail carrier is the nicest person I know. She is always cheerful and goes out of her way to do her job very well. What a pleasure to know people who always do their best. She makes me a better person too.
ReplyDeleteMy Nice List nomination goes to my sister, Pat, who is also a stamper! She is always there with an encouraging word, or just to be silly with, and she is a major ENABLER of my crafting addiction as well...we spend all year exchanging little "just because" crafty gifts with each other and we both go all out at Christmas time! Aside from all she does for me, and being my best friend, she is involved in all kinds of things in her town (she lives across the country from me) and with her church, I am very proud of her!!
ReplyDeleteLove the new look to the furniture. It is a blessing to have a good neighbor.
ReplyDeleteMy nominee who is at the top of the Nice List is my friend Jean. Last year today she lost her husband to an sudden illness, is now the caretaker to her 6 year old grandson while his mother is a solider in Afghanistan, and she cares for her 96 year old Father and always thinks of others even with all challenges given to her this year. I am blessed to have such a nice good friend.
The person who is on the top of my "nice list" is my friend Donna. She is the one who got me interested in stamping. Not only is she talented in many ways, she has got a fabulous personality. Donna can make me laugh like nobody else...that gift of sunshine makes her a winner!
ReplyDeleteMr G belongs on your nice list Claire... he did a fabulous job!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's hard for me to choose who is on the top of my nice list... as a stamping friend.. Claire you belong up there!!! But... I"m thinking you already have all the sets..*wink*.... so... I will have to eliminate many in my life who have been so great to me over the years.. I would say I would have to pick Misty... she orders things we both like when i can't order for myself... she has been a great help to me over the years in a variety of situations, including my son's wedding. She is a mom of 3 and also works a couple of jobs and takes care of everyone... I don't know how she manages to do it all..
I have many people on my Nice List, but one that comes up in my mind is my friend, stamping companion and riding instructor - Charlotte.
ReplyDeleteShe've helped me countless of times, I've been living with her family when I was planning to move abroad, but was delayed because of a war (!), we've been eating food there countless of times and her family and animals are all wonderful - and sweet - and cheer me up when I'm down. (Exept maybe the hens... I'm not exactly scared of them, more like... hmm... suspicious...)
She's also the one introducing me to stamping and she doesn't have so many stamp sets herself...
Love your Welsh dresser, Claire - beautiful!
ReplyDeleteTop of my nice list is my daughter Jaime and her children. For the past three years my mother, who has Alzheimer's, has been living with me so I can take care of her. Jaime and her family moved nearby a few months ago and they come and "Grandma sit" so I can have breaks and even go do something with my DH. Last week we got to go out to dinner! It has been wonderful to have a little bit of time to ourselves again!
Adding this one in for Sheila, comments weren't working for her!!!!
ReplyDeleteMy Mum is the best! Over the last two years while my Dad has been very ill, Mum has looked after him without ever once complaining or thinking of herself. It's been a really tiring time, especially when Dad was in various hospitals in and around Glasgow and a great deal of travelling was involved with visiting. Sadly, Dad died a few weeks ago and it's been Mum who has kept us all going, during these difficult times. I'd like to nominate my Mum for the Nice List.

Your dresser is really lovely!
ReplyDeleteWho to choose? I think it has to be my good friend Paddy. Since she retired this summer she has been busier than ever and always offers to help out others. She runs weekly craft classes at her local community centre for people with learning disabilities and others who are interested, makes jams and pickles for her church fair and has just done a fabulous workshop teaching a few of us to make Christmas garlands in the same way that the National Trust do. All the while she is planning her daughter's wedding next year and has catered for friends parties in order to try out her recipies etc. Two weeks ago she taught 600 Brownies how to make christmas tealight holders at their camp and I know it took her all month to make up all the kits for them! On top of all this, when I mentioned that we are hoping to get married next year but couldn't afford a big "do" she very kindly offered to do all the catering for us if we decided to have our reception at home! I am overwhelmed at her kindness and generousity (and she is like this with many people), so I'd love it if she had the chance to win some new stamps. She is from an Irish family so I suspect that she'd love the celtic sets & the irish sayings!
Thanks so much for the chance to do this Claire.

What a great question. I have been stamping just over a year, and have met some of the nicest people on-line. I am in a little group called 'four-of-a-kind' and the three other gals in my group are some of the nicest people I know. They leave me kind comments on my blog, send me e-mails all the time, are generous with their supplies, and send me lots of 'happy mail'. They are Kim, Cathy, and Renee, and they are all at the top of my 'nice list'
ReplyDeleteThe dresser is gorgeous, pre- and post-Mr. G. And we all know that you're Moxie Fab; we didn't need Cath to tell us that!
ReplyDeleteThe top of my "Nice List" this year is Monika Wright. While I was going through a challenging time earlier this year with my dad dying of cancer and my daughter's dad being rather hard-nosed about some things, Monika, who only knew me through my visits to her blog, shared some private words with me that touched my heart with her kindness and insight. She seemed to know what I needed at that moment. That thoughtfulness - from someone who was basically a stranger to me - has stayed with me and boosted me throughout the year. Also, I used Monika's idea for a gratitude journal, which became my lifeline this year. I am grateful for her kindness to me.
On the top of my nice list is my 21 month old daughter. She is so giving and generous. Just one example is that one of her favorite things are M&Ms. If she sees the bag she will ask for some. Sometimes I tell her, "Just One." She them proceeds to put it in Mommy's mouth. It's amazing to me how such a young one can be selfless.
ReplyDeleteHi Claire- my husband goes on the top of my nice list....not only is he always very supportive of me and my crafting, but he goes above and beyond the call of duty when I really need it. My very close friend has had a reoccurence of her breast cancer and I have been dropping everything to take to doctor's appts for tests, scans and consultations. I've been gone all day for numerous days as we try to get her the best opinions and care possible. My husband hasn't said one word about my neglecting the house- he's pitched right in and made in possible for me to be able to help my friend....even going in late to work to take my son to school...he's at the TOP of the nice list!
ReplyDeleteGood old Mr G, he's done an amazing job and your dresser looks fab!! Top of my 'Nice list' would have to be my mum-in-law, she is a real treasure and always happy to help. She looks after my father in law who has heart problems, does loads for the church and has health problems herself but nothing is too much trouble for her. She's not a crafter but always makes my cards at Christmas and my birthday, isn't that sweet?
ReplyDeletehugs
Claire C xx
WOW sounds like Mr G sounds like a fab neighbour! On op of my list is my co-worker. I've only started working with her 3 months ago and in that time she has had a tough time with her mum passing away and also her mother-in-law passing away 3 days after her mum. Above all of this she has to keep a house of 4 busy kids and come to work with a smile everyday with preschoolers!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas all :)
Lou
Stunning dresser Claire a real bargain too!
ReplyDeleteOn top off ny nice list...my mother she is the best!!
The best grand mother too and also my very best friend!
We both make cards and its so much fun the sharing.....
I am drooling over your beautiful piece of furniture. I hope you enjoy it; it's lovely. On top of my nice list is my wonderful husband who is always by my side helping me raise our three children. He is the best!
ReplyDeleteOn my Nice List is my friend Erin. We met quite by accident when I made a comment on her blog and won a prize. When I responded with my mailing address so she could mail my winnings, we discovered we live only about 20 minutes away from each other! So she has invited me over to her house a few times so we can enjoy our crafty art together! It's fun to have a local buddy to share the fun of paper art with.
ReplyDeleteDeniseB
I love the dresser, does it ship with stamps - would look great in my dining room too. On my nice list has to be my husband, he is my main support/carer as well as working a shift job and looking after our three children. He is always there and for the first time in 24 years he has to work Christmas Day so wont get dinner with us. We are celebrating Christmas on Boxing Day instead as a family. Have a great Christmas everyone, hope you get lots of nice goodies. xx
ReplyDeleteMy neighbour Linda is at the top of my nice list. She lets me babysit her beautiful cat Galaxy when she's away on vacation. He's very loving and sweet...and I love being one of his favorite people. She's so kind to let me steal him for a couple of hours or days from time to time...and it's always when I need kitten snuggles the most. :) God bless and Merry Christmas! xx
ReplyDeleteMy darling sister Janet is at the top of my nice list. I have no children of my own, but she very graciously shares her four not-so-wee ones with me! She is always there to lend support in a pinch and is just an all round stellar person. She is the one who got me started in stamping and paper crafting and I love her dearly!
ReplyDeleteI can see why Mr G is at the top of your nice list!
ReplyDeleteI'd have to say that my mom has ALWAYS been at the top of my nice list and she STILL is! Not only is she the SWEETEST person one would EVER meet, but, she is also the most SELFLESS! She would really do anything for her children (or almost anyone, really) and I try to repay her in any way I can whenever I can but, I just don't think I could ever do enough! I really can't say enough about it...she is simply AMAZING and I'm infinitely appreciative for her!
Happy Holiday Hugs,
Naomi
Top of my nice list today is my husband, who is consoling me and has just cleaned up the mess that my dog has just made of the beautiful drawer set I made today from card for my bookclub gift. I made a three drawer chest, a drawer each for a book token, a little packet of tea and chocolate. The dog tore it apart to get to the chocolate :( Maybe I'll post a before pic on fb - it was so lovely. The top of the drawers was vintage labels 18 and Fancy Phrases. Back to work, another couple of hours to make another.
ReplyDeleteMy mum is on the top of my list as she taught me how to be who I am today, Luv her!
ReplyDeleteHi Claire :)
ReplyDeleteThis is such a lovely idea and I've enjoyed reading the lovely things people have written... it's so in the spirit of Christmas to think like this about the people who've made a positive difference in our lives, so thank you for the prompt to take the time to do that in the middle of all the christmas madness!! :) And thank you for the chance to win such a fab prize and, better still, to give such a lovely gift to someone special!! :)
When I read Lucy's comment at number 42, I thought 'That's exactly what I wanted to write and exactly my situation'!! My Mum is always top of my 'Nice List'... she's my mum, my best friend and my carer and has given up so much to be these things for me for so many years and get me through every day. She also helps me to craft when I'm not well enough to manage the things I want to do- recently she has started to want to make her own cards, too, and we both love WMS so she'd love to win!! :)
Your dresser is just gorgeous, too, Claire- what a great neighbour Mr G. is!! Happy Christmas!! :)
hugs, Rachel xx
My mom makes my nice list, it's been such a treat to live across the street from here (after living 7000 miles away for 4 years), I love watching her interaction with my boys...
ReplyDeleteThe top of my "nice list" this year would definitely have to be my husband. We have three young girls under the age of 6 and life can be quite crazy. But my husband is willing and even offers to watch them every now and then (like last week when I realized I still had most of my Christmas shopping to do; and that just CANNOT be done with three children in tow!) to let me have a chance to get out by myself. If you have children, you know what a blessing that is.
ReplyDeleteOH how I love the redo on your beautiful furniture. So let's see on my nice list there are MANY but for my crafty peeps I would have to give a shout out to Laurie .... she inspires me with her paper crafts and photography not to mention I adore her!!!
ReplyDeleteOn the top of my list has to be my grief counselor without him I would be lost. My family was not there when I needed someone and he was there when I needed to talk. I will never be able to repay him for all the times we talk. It's been 3 years but ever Christmas is really hard to deal with. He listens without any judgement even when I now I talk about Design Teams that I tried out for and don't make. He tells me I will be on a DT someday but I'm disappointed every time. So he really puts up with me now!
ReplyDeleteOn top of my list is my grief counselor who has been there for me every time I needed someone to talk to. My family didn't know how to deal with this so he was someone I could count on. There is no way I could ever pay him for his kindness. Now I usually cry over my rejection emails stating I didn't make a Design Team. He keeps telling me I'd make it but I have such little faith!
ReplyDeleteAt the top of my Nice List this year is my friend, Jessica. We met two years ago at a shoebox swap and quickly became friends after we discovered that we live right now the road from one another. She is the sweetest person I have ever met! For all kinds of occassions she makes me cards that absolutely brighten my day and she's always there to selflessly support me. For example, she volunteered very early in the morning for a lung cancer race that I organized, no questions asked...even though she has so many other responsibilities of her own. She is a fantastic listener and she's so fun! It's at the point where I can't imagine this life, especially this crafty life, without her.
ReplyDeleteTop of my nice list - my hubby. I couldn't ask for a better person in my life.
ReplyDeleteLove the dresser Claire. My favourite this year is my lovely hubby who knew my back wasn't up to it and planted out my vegi garden and weeded it and watered it - we have been eating the fruits (vegies) of his labour and will possible have potatoes for Christmas and fresh peas! He's on my nice list most of the time but especially for this!
ReplyDeleteYour dresser is wonderfully transformed into a beautiful piece.
ReplyDeleteMy nice list person is my elder daughter Poorvi, who turned 15 this year. She is such a morale booster and motivates me whenever I feel low. I love to here her reactions, when I create a card:)
She herself has started making wonderful cards...seeing me creating. Love seeing her turning into such a lovely and caring teenager.
Oooh oooh can I enter please??? I've just recently discovered your stamps and to say I'm in love is an understatement! :O)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely top of my "NIce List" this year would be my other half - he's been an absolute star this year! In April this year my mum had a massive heart attack and he managed to get all 6 of us (me, him and the 4 kids) over to Belfast to be with her. Sadly we lost her in June - he not only took the time off work to stay at home with them while I flew over to arrange the funeral but afterwards he almost singlehandedly helped with the difficult job of clearing her house - endless trips to charity shops etc as well as putting up with me in my emotional state. Now I know this al may sound obvious - it's what other-halfs are meant to do at that time but he really did go above and beyond for me. And it's not the first time! 9 years ago he gave up his job to open a craft shop here on the island - because of his beleif and trust in me. He's sacrificed so much for both me and our children and although he's not really into stamping and such he did love your stamps as well and said he might even treat me in the new year. This way I could even save him some money ;o)
Ooh and I love your dresser too - I've got a small one I've been thinking of decorating and you've inspired me to get the paints out in the new year! Health to enjoy!
At the top of my nice list this year is my dear friend Jenni. She has been there for me in ways I could not even imagine someone would. She is a gift in my life.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous dresser (and such a *nice* neighbour you have!:0) Congrats on the Moxie Fab shout out too! Top of my nice list this year would be my daughter. I always imagined the teen years to be a nightmare, not a time when you have these bigger and incredibly kind, helpful people in your life. She's amazingly giving - I find her inspiring! (Yes, it should have been my hubby, but he finds her so sweet too, he won't feel offended! :0)
ReplyDeleteWow, Mr. G did a wonderful job! What a beautiful piece of furniture!!
ReplyDeleteAt the top of my nice list this year (and every year) is my dear friend Karen. We've been friends for 25 years now and we have seen each other through good times and bad. Even though we live a few hours apart, we've made a special effort the last few years to make time for visiting each other. My husband and I just recently spent a weekend with her in November. She knows that I'm currently on a weight loss program and she was SO supportive, cooking things that would not mess up my progress. She said that she "wanted to be mindful of my diet needs". How sweet! Such a good good friend.
I really enjoy WMS, the forum, the gallery, the amazing design team. I have been made aware of so many wonderful people as a result of the community that has sprung up around Claire. One person stands out, though - a fellow fan. Deb Frings is always ready with a sweet, kind word, a generous compliment, and a willingness to cheer a fellow stamper on. I enjoy her blog and all her creations, most of which feature WMS in some fashion. The WMS world is a bit better place for her enthusiastic support. So ths year, my Nice List has a shining star atop it named Deb. :-)
ReplyDeleteTop on my nice list is my dear friend Wendy. A true friend in good and bad times, always full of energy and positivity! I really love being with her, and enjoy our (crafty) time together. If I could mean half as much to her as she means to me.....
ReplyDeleteTop of my list is hubby - he puts up with my crafting, and doesn't say too much on my craft spending budget. Love him. Then next comes my parents. They have both recently put some money in my bank account, and just not said anything about it. Its just been a big very pleasant surprise for me - parents are so supportive, and loving, and I am grateful for them.
ReplyDeleteMy mother is at the top of my Nice List. Not only does she help us out when we are in a bind for child care, but she is very giving in the community as well. She is church secretary, Optimist Club newsletter editor and helps prepare the Optimist scrapbook every year. She and my father were looking after our two boys and dog in late November when my father took a heart attack. Not only did she manage to be with my father, but was also able to still look after our boys. To top it all off, our dog then had a seizure which she handled with expertise. Dad has since had a triple bypass and Mom has been there with him all the way...for encouragement and for telling him to slow down. I can see why their 45 year marriage (just celebrated November 12th)has lasted this long. My mother is my greatest role model...and I love her very, very much.
ReplyDeleteLove the idea of the Nice List! Now that's what the holidays are all about:) At the top of my nice list are 2 awesome gals, Jessi F. and Jeanne J. I can't tell you how encouraging, kind, and just plain fun these gals are. So glad to have met them!
ReplyDeleteAnd of course, I would be remiss if I didn't give a shout out to the guy who is perpetually at the top of my nice list, my husband Dave. This year has been very difficult for me with an sick parent and super busy job. Without him, I'd be lost.
Happy Holidays!
I have to nominate my lovely blog pal and crafty shopping angel Yuki in Hawaii. As well as WMS I'm also addicted to a certain stamp company in the US whose shipping costs are astronomical! Every month Yuki orders my stamp fix and posts it on to me at a fraction of the cost I would have to pay otherwise. And not only me, she also orders for half a dozen other addicts too. Yuki certainly deserves her place at the top of my crafty nice person list. It would be lovely to win her some stamps to repay her kindness a little.
ReplyDeleteI really have to put two people at the top of my nice list this year: my friends Erinn and Serah. We've been singing together for the past 1-1/2 years and have grown really close as we've performed all over the country. They are just like sisters to me now and they love me, flaws and all. Some long-cherished dreams have come true because of these two wonderful girls. :) But their friendship is the best part of all.
ReplyDeleteWow, Claire, that dresser really looks great after its "transformation" and I do understand why your neighbour is on top of your 'Nice list'.
ReplyDeleteOn top of my 'Nice List' is my stamping friend Antje who is in the same stamping forum as I am. She has had quite some challenges in her life this year which were not easy and which brought many changes for her.
But in spite of all that, she always found the time to challenge us in the forum with new (weekly or monthly) inspirations and she always is a true source of inspiration for me.
Another person on my 'Nice List" is, of course, my husband who supports my hobby and very often fullfils me a specialy wish in form of stamps or supply material. But he is on my 'Nice List' every year, not especially this one *lol*.
Claire, thanks for the chance to win this big prize and Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Kind regards
Carola
Claire, Wow! what a beautiful dresser. You are so lucky to have an amazing neighbour who lovingly transformed your piece of furniture.
ReplyDeleteTop of my Nice List without having to bat an eyelid would be MY DARLING DAUGHTER MICHELLE :) who incidently introduced me to paper crafting :) Although married and living quite a distance away, when we visit each other, we still find some qaulity time to craft together. My DD phones us up almost every day. We chat about daily goings on, what crafting projects we`re working on and she checks if i`m ok due to my ill health, her Dad with his back problems
and has a chat with her Brother Steven who has special needs.
Not only am i BLESSED with a TRULY SPECIAL DAUGHTER, this Christmas is extra special because she is pregnant, and our first Grandchild is due Christmas week.
THANKS CLAIRE for a chance to win this amazing give away. A MERRY CHRISTMAS to you and your FAMILY, your amazing team behind the scenes, your DT team ( so inspirational ) and all my fellow crafters.
Lillian Xx
What a great dresser Claire and I bet it looks beautiful decorated with all your cherished posessions.
ReplyDeleteFor my nice list, I would have to top it with my daughter, Laura. Even though I may be biased, she is one of the nicest people I know and her caring and thoughtful nature is recognised by everyone who knows her. She now teaches and this year has had a most challenging class in her inner city school. In spite of the difficulties, she provides fun and interesting lessons and is gradually winning them round. I hope this little testament encourages her to keep at it next year.
The dresser looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteTop of my 'Nice' list is my neighbour Elaine who calmed my anxieties both real and imagined through a challenging year. She's a fellow crafter too so we share crafty equipment and have lots of crafting sessions too! Thanks for the chance to win this amazing giveaway, and a very Happy Christmas to You & Your's. Ger x.
The top of my nice list would be my youngest sister. She has been taking care of my widowed father for about the last 4 years without any complaints. He has Asperger's Syndrome so he can be hard to be around, but she does it cheerfully and is always looking out to protect him and looking out for his best interest. Her care of him has taken a tremendous load off the rest of us siblings!!!
ReplyDeleteThe revamped dresser looks fantastic!
ReplyDeleteTop of my Nice List has to be my other half who, despite being the least craftiest person i know, picked up one of my stamps the other day and asked how to use it. When i asked him why he replied 'well you can't do all those Save The Dates by yourself and I want to get them just right!' bless him! I could name a million other reasons but this once makes me smile the most right now!
At the top of my "nice" list is Rachelle M., my lead volunteer room parent for my kindergarten class last year. She was always there for me, helping me and my students. I had a class of 24 five year olds with no school assistant, so Rachelle was a blessing. I couldn't have survived without her. Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteOh, this is such a beautiful prize - thank you Claire. And I just love your dresser, before was nice too but I have just done the 'reno' thing and that white one would look lovely in my new space.
ReplyDeleteMy 'top nice list person' would be my friend Avril who doesn't need a reason to just turn up and help out. Just like a mind-reader. Cannot imagine what life would be like without a friend like that.
Happy Christmas to you and your family and I wish you (and WMS) great happiness, good health and success in the New Year.
