...WMS Nice List, are you on it??

Good evening folks!

I have been pretty much missing in action recently, getting orders out, keeping on top of (well trying to...) backorders and feeding plumbers and builders as they go about making our house warm enough to cope with the snow! lol!

Tonight I have just filled the last envelope for the morning post, and I thought I'd take a moment to put up this post before diving into some emails.

I've had this idea for a Competition rattling about in my head and I need to get it out there before Monday (wink!).

So here it is - The Waltzingmouse Stamps Nice List Competition!

I know, we don't really have a stack of time at the moment to actually make anything, do we? Well I don't so here's want I want you all to do:

Leave a comment on this post telling me all about someone who has been nice to you recently. Simple.

It can be anyone. Your best friend, your milk-man, they guy who walks your dog, I don't care who it is, I just want to know what they did for you that was nice.

I will start us all off:

There are stacks of folks I could mention here, lots of stampy friends especially, family etc, but this week I just have to nominate my Auntie La. We were having the heating upgraded and Auntie La bundled all the wee folk off to her house every day after school so's they wouldn't be cold, she fed them, entertained them and got homeworks done AND she strong-armed the laundry from me and did that too! So Auntie La is top of my nice list.

Who do you nominate and why?

You don't have to give their names, I know some folks are a little shy, but I must have your name and some way to contact you if you win!

The prize is A stamp set and a set of matching Spellbinder Die templates of your choice, and a wee something else too that I can't mention just yet, cos I haven't added them to the store yet...keep an eye out later this week...LOL! AND be sure to let me know if your nominee is a crafter too! There will be a little something in it for them too!!

The winner will be chosen by random number generator, and I will let this competition run until next Friday the 10th December! So, come on!! let's hear about who you want added to our nice list!

  1. What a wonderful idea!!

I nominate my dear friend Erica, she helped me out of a SUPER tight spot out of the goodness of her heart, knowing I cannever replay her in kind. I didn't even think to ask her for this kind of help, but she didn't need to be asked, she jumped up and offered and I will never forget it!

  2. Hi Claire!

Oh, what a perfect initiative! I already think this 'blogging world' is just the best and all people are so sweet and what a perfect idea to make a list like this, i'll surely be back later this week, to read what everyone wrote! Your Auntie La was so sweet for you, how amazing people like her are here!
I actually have to mention two people this week! Can I? First one is from work, I had a bit of a disappointing talk with my boss at work, she told me they were happy with me, but they can not offer me new challenges or more pay within the company, so if I wanted something else, there would be no choice then to look for a new job. I was sad and disappointed about that, 'cause I don't want to leave there yet and I've been working really hard. And then one of my colleagues noticed my change of mood and we talked with a group of four and the other girls said they would go to my boss and tell them to do something for me, 'cause they think I'm good at my job and they love me as a colleague and don't want to miss me - how sweet is that! Don't think it will be any good, but these girls are just the best!!!

(part two in second post, it wouldn't fit... only one chance for me to win of course, hope I don't mess things up this way...)

  3. (part two...)
And the second one is craft related. I saw a lovely magazine with a cute stamp with it on an American blog and wrote that I liked it so much, but didn't know where to get it and then a blogging friend from the USA answered and told me she would get one for me and send it to me as a gift - that was sooo sweet! But then it arrived and it was a huge envelope! And when I opened it, there were gorgeous stamps and embellies with it in the envelope!!! That was just amazing!! She is such a sweet person! And she totally amazed me with this generosity! And she is a crafty person herself, as you figured out, so if I would be the lucky winner, I would love to surprise her with something!
Oeh, sorry, long story... hope I didn't bore you! ;-) Curious about what all the other people will write, it will be a huge happy and thankful list!
    All the best!
    Hugs, Wendy

  4. I'd like to nominate my friend and colleague Lou for the top of my nice list who has phoned me everyday this week to make sure I'm keeping warm, eating and not suffering from cabin fever during this very cold and snowy spell. I've been snowed in from work and she knew that I was home alone this week. I feel so lucky that she looks out for me!
Thanks for this fab idea (and the chance to win too!)
    Hugs,
    Aimes

  5. I nominate my friend Debbie (a crafter as well). She has really helped me throughout the whole summer with my problem of being unemployed. She has a local business and she not only gave me work, just when I though that no one would, but she keep encouraging me. She made me realize that I have alot of attributes that I didn't know I had. She had faith in me and come to find out, all I needed was for someone to have FAITH!! Thank you Debbie!!!! I appreciate you SOOOO much!! Now, thanks to Debbie, I will have my own small business, starting January 1st. Wierd, that my first customer has already staked her claim....Debbie. I have tears in my eyes.

Thanks Claire!!! I will visit your blog to read these comments a few times a day, because I LOVE hearing of nice things that people do for one another.

My name is Wendy and you can contact me at wendyjo72@gmail.com

    Happy Holidays!!!

  6. I nominate my neighbour. She is always there when I need her. To collect my packeges, walk my dog, water my plants, or just for a cup of tea. I never heard her say no to anything I asked her!! She is a crafter too so we have lots to talk about :-)

  7. I constantly need to give shout outs to my mother-in-law, without whom I would be a sunk ship. I have had many harsh blows come my way in the past couple of years, starting right as I was a brand new mum to my now 2-year old. Shirley has been there to support me, encourage me, take my kids off my hand to have a sanity-refreshment day here and there, change the diapers, make the dinners, do whatever it could be to make my life easier. She has helped our family in so many ways, and I know that it is because of her that I am the mum to my children that I never had growing up. She allows me to focus on what's important, and she has also taught me what it means to be part of a loving, caring family. Without her, I don't know where I would be in life!

And yep, she's a crafter! We share this paper obsession (which you saw with her tag in your last contest!), which is something else that I am grateful for - without her help, I wouldn't have half the supply of goodies to play with! ;)

Thanks for the chance to give good thought to those in our lives who need our appreciation! :)

  8. I am nominating my husband for his overwhelming love, trust and friendship. I had some rough days this week, some things I should have done earlier where finished last minute and that had an immediate effect on my health. But instead of telling me "I told you so" he helped me through those days, being so nice and lovely. Jesper, I love you.

  9. It would have to be my 2-1/2 year old grandson, Jonas, who out of no where came up to me and looked me in the eye and said "Grandma, I need a hug" ... oh my ... I'm still reeling from that bit of sweetness. It just made my day!

    http://lillianchild.blogspot.com

And oh how I would ADORE winning this generous prize! Hoping Lady Luck is with me for this giveaway!

  10. My sister is definitely on the nice list for hosting our whole family for Thanksgiving! (Plus she's a scrapbooker, and I'm trying to bring her over the to stamping "dark side"!)

  11. I nominate my Aunt Marti for the nice list. Recently we went to our LSS (I gave her a ride so she could purchase some supplies) and fell in love with the new enamels from Tim Holtz. I however am on a tight budget right now and can't really afford to make any NEW crafting purchases at the moment. Unbeknownst to me, while I was in the ladies room she purchased them for me and gave them to me on the way home. It's not a huge thing, but it meant alot to me!

  12. I love this idea so here goes

  13. I'd like to nominate my friend Ria who I met through the Internet and Blogging about 2 years ago. Despite of her busy schedule she is always there when I need her. Somehow she always knows it when I am down or depressed and with a few kind words she knows exactly how to cheer me up and make me feel I am worthy.
I don't honestly know if I would be here today if it wasn't for her.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I would have to say my sister, Steph (a crafter too!) We have had lots going on with husbands family in the hospital! She calls everyday and sends notes checking on me and just to see how everything is going! Having her there really helps in the middle of the stressful times!

    ReplyDelete
  15. My nice list has my good friend, Leigh Ann, on it. She and I met through our crafty blogs and have become the best of friends even though she's halfway across the country from me. She is so very supportive in every aspect of my life, pushes me to submit for publication, is honest if she thinks something stinks, you know, the whole good buddy kit and caboodle! Thanks so much for the chance at some of your beautiful stamps!!

    ReplyDelete
  16. My husband, who isn't a crafter, does something nice for me everyday - he never fails to call if he's out to ask if there's something I need, he brings me coffee, he cooks for himself if I'm busy, and he has the best sense of humor of anyone I know. "Nice" is his middle name and his mother said he was born nice. (And, no, he doesn't have a brother). C2 (bluebirdflats@yahoo.com)

  17. I would have to nominate my blog friend Christina! (also a crafter!) She inspires me so much since I started my journey in card making. We started blogging almost at the same time. She is such a sweetheart and she encourages me to do my best with my crafting. :) I'm really glad to have met her here on blog land! :)

  18. What a wonderful competition, and so many nice stories.

I'd nominate my hubby who just surprised me today by announcing my sister was coming to pick the kids up for the night and he was taking me away for the night *just because*
Got to love a nice surprise like that :)

    ReplyDelete
  19. What a sweet idea for a contest. I'm having a hard time picking just one person. I have met some nice Cyber friends who are always quick with encouragement and support and I wouldn't be able to pick just one of them. There is my Mom who is always surprising me with crafty stuff and we love to stamp together when we can.

  20. I have a stamping friend, Martha, whom I have never met. We have chatted on the same chatboard for over a decade. She knows that I am a teacher in a juvenile jail and recently shipped us 2 huge boxes containing a brand new Bind-It-All, and lots of goodies to go with it so that my students can create their own books. Her generosity just blessed me so much.

  21. I have a really special lady to mention, her name is Sharyn Ybarra. She visits our craft shop weekly to visit and pick up a few things. She supplies beautiful cards to every few weeks to be delivered to Hospice patients to help brighten their and the families last days together. She pays for all supplies herself and provided over 700 cards this month alone for the Christmas need.
she is truly a selfless, giving person and will have a special place in heaven herself.Every visit with her is uplifting.God puts people like her in our lives for a reason.I hope everyone else here has a chance to be touched b someone as special as Sharyn Ybarra.

  22. Hi Claire! What a fabby idea!

I work at a pretty large cell phone carrier here in the US They are pretty big internationally too). My manager's wife recently had a stroke (she is only 30) and it was pretty touch and go for a while there. Happily, she is recovering. She is still in the hospital and faces a lot of physical therapy but thankfully she is alive.

My manager himself is young (also in his thirties) and is working daily, taking care of their 3 year old and spending all of his spare time at the hospital with his wife and child.

Here is where my 'nice' comes in. I'm especially sensitive to the stress that my manager must be under (as I have had to face similar issues in my own personal life). The company we work for can't officially do much for my manager other than be flexible and continue to provide the much needed insurance to pay for bills. I have officially started an underground movement to make sure that their little 3 year old has presents under the tree and that someone is bringing in a meal daily for David to fix for his family once his wife is released from the hospital. About 300 people are all happily participating! There truly are good people in this world.

    Linda

  23. I nominate my sister who's miles away , but always has something good to say when I need.
I was feeling homesick last week and she lifted my spirit w/ a phone call.... I'm so lucky to have her in my life.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I'd nominate my friend Denise. She always listens to me whenever I need a friend. Doesn't matter how mad/sad etc I am. She listens and lets me get it off my chest. She's a wonderful friend and has helped me out when times have been tough.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I would have to say my friend Judy (a crafter too). She has an amazing stash of supplies and she never bats an eye if I want to borrow one of her tools. I never feel rushed to return them to her, she is very generous.

This is for Meridith that posted above. I wish my Daughter in law could talk to you. I hope you tell your mother in law how you feel. To her, it will be worth more than anything.

    ReplyDelete
  26. My neighbor brought me some beautiful flowers yesterday to say thank you for watching her daughter for a very few minutes last week. It made me want to show my appreciation more for those who do little kind things for me.

Also, my husband brought all of the Christmas decoration boxes and big, heavy tree up from the basement while I was gone shopping on Black Friday with my girls (which is not nearly as much fun as it might sound). I almost cried, it was so nice of him.

  27. I nominate my daring grown daughter, who recently moved in with us for a while. She makes me laugh and reminds me that I am loved. She is a budding crafter, too, and quite good.

  28. Truly there are so many people I could nominate who have been so very nice to me recently. But today a blogging friend, someone I've never met in real life, sent me a wonderful email about a project I had posted on my blog. She had already left a comment, but then took the time to send an email to tell me how special she thought the project was. It made my day! (Since I just found out I've broken my ankle, I needed a bit of extra love so it was more appreciated than ever.)

  29. Love this! I'm a stay at home mommy and don't have the opportunity to make many friends close to home. Sometimes it's difficult - we need gal pals to share with and to support us, ya know? I've met some incredible gals through stamping and blogging, but my friend Sue Ann is at the tippy-top of my 'grateful for you' list. My 4 month old son recently had some health problems that gave us quite a scare. Sue Ann was someone I could turn to to vent my frustrations and fears. She was incredibly supportive and encouraging but MOST of all she was FIERCE - she reminded me to be STRONG. (Believe me it would have been easy to pull the covers over my head.) Good news: We found out that my son is well and free from illness! Sue Ann rejoiced with me... even from far away, I knew we were celebrating together. Thanks for letting me share... so grateful for all the relationship our hobby brings into our lives~

  30. Claire, This is so sweet! It's like the American Thanksgiving tradition! I recently traveled to New England to visit my DD and while I was away my neighbor came by the house every day to take in the mail and "check on things"! He gave me a full report when I return along with some delightful news about a new baby who arrived in the neighborhood. I think Rob deserves the nice award!

    Hugs!

  32. Hi Claire. Wonderful idea for a competition. I would like to nominate my friend Joy (also a crafter). I have had a really bad week at work, caught up in a feud between two co-workers that has turned very nasty. Joy is a blogger friend who I have never actually meet, but she has rung me several times this week to check on me and offer advice and encouragement. This blogger world really is very unique and supportive. Judith

  34. What a wonderful idea.

I would have to pick my mom. DH and I are trying to find a puppy for our family this Christmas and we will be meeting one tomorrow at the last min. My mom has said she will watch the boys so that it can still be a surprise. Not only that, but she and my dad will keep the puppy at their house for a few days after we get her so they boys can be surprised on Christmas Eve.

  36. That is incredibly generous Clare, but it is the season of giving. I would like to nominate my stamping buddy Amanda, she has been generous with her time and crafty stuff this year, she and her husband started a business this year so spare funds to buy beautiful stamps has been in short supply.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I nominate my friend Shannon who offered to watch my 2 boys while I go to my Gyno appt. Sounds simple enough, but it's a big deal for me. I have no other option for childcare. No family within 300 miles and I'm a stay at home mom with a hubby who travels all week. I can't imagine having to take two boys to the Gynocologist's office. Seriously...how do I explain that to a 2 and 4 year old?? So, thank you Shannon...I owe you, girl!!!

    ReplyDelete
  38. This one was easy. I have been recuperating from surgery and am not able to do much yet. My new son-in-law, who happens to be a chef, took over cooking the turkey for Thanksgiving, which took a big load off of me...and you can't even imagine how good that turkey was (because you weren't here to taste it!)...black pepper/pomegranate glazed turkey...MmMmMm good.

    ReplyDelete
  39. There are a number of people that I could nominate but I have to nominate my sweet hubby. I've been up to my eyeballs with crafty projects for gifts and cards and such. My craft projects have literally taken over the whole guest room and now the entire kitchen. Seeing my craziness and the disarray of our house not only has he gone and done the grocery shopping and fixed dinner but has jumped in and taken care of some of the laundry and vacuuming with out even a snide comment or a "When do you think you'll be done and the house will return to normal?" comment/question in my direction. In fact the only thing he has asked is, "What do you want for Christmas?" Yes, it's true... He deserves my highest praises. While he's not very crafty he does enjoy seeing me create something great.
Thank you for another wonderful giveaway Claire. What a great opportunity to thank our friends, family, loved ones.

  40. Oh my! Claire, your request brought immediate tears to my eyes just thinking about a certain person that helps keep me grounded. We met about one year ago on the internet, we met in person in Oct this year. We talk on the phone frequently, she listens and helps me iron things out when I have a problem. She is way more wiser than her years and she always has the best advice. This week she gave me some insight into a certain problem I am having with a certain relative. She has opened my eyes to the needs of that person. She says the nicest things and never judges!! She is a fellow crafter and definitely got me hooked into this world of cyberspace!

    ReplyDelete
  41. I nominate my mom. She is always there for me and gives 100% support. She is the most amazing grandmother and helps my kids enjoy things (outings, school camps etc) we can't afford as it has been a tough year financially for us. I am so blessed to have the wonderful family that I have. I could honestly nominate them all.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Thank you for this wonderful idea!

I want to nominate my husband. I work in the mornings so he wakes up to cook breakfast for me, he gets our 1 year old baby fed and cleans the kitchen. I get home by lunch time and sometimes he cooks lunch too but other times he's just running late for work.

Without his enormous help, taking care of our baby and juggling work would have been totally insane!
Plus, he takes me to the nearest craft store almost every week!!
    I'm a very lucky lady :)

  43. On top of my list would be my sister, who has been tirelessly taking care of our mother (who recently had surgery and was discharged to a nursing home for therapy), running the family business, and taking care of her own family at the same time. I try to help out as well, but for some reason, she's the one my mom yells at and complains to the most.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I, too, want to nominate my dearest husband. We recently moved from Italy to Germany. Normally, I work a couple of days a week as a substitute teacher at the local military school. My husband has agreed without cajoling from me (lol) that I should stay at home and just be a mom and cook and crafter for awhile. I am so thankful that he heard me and immediately agreed that I needed that time. He is such a wonderful man. After 20 years he is still the one.

  45. What a fab idea for a competition, making us think of the wonderful people in our lives without whom the everyday would descend into chaos! I would like to nominate my lovely friend Jo, for always lending a helping hand if I'm in a tight spot. In particular, my husband was away for 10 days in November with work, and the first weekend she was there on the Sunday helping to put my new chest of drawers together from a famous flat pack store. I say "help" she actually built the whole thing whilst I stood ineffectually about or making tea! And she finished off the set of drawers that my hubby started but didn't have time to finish! Who needs men?! xxx

  46. Definitely high on my list is my sister Cinzia who always helps me with the boys, with school, she make delicious cakes for us .... and now that she's on holiday feels his absence...a kiss for my sister Cinzia

  47. I'd like to nominate my friend Bec - she's done a lot of listening and supporting me in the last couple of weeks.

  48. What a lovely idea ! I nominate my husband - who is FABULOUS in general, giving me time to craft often - but specifically, he researched and bought me the perfect heater for my craft room ( the coldest room in the house by a long shot !!) It has enabled me to play during this snow-bound week ! How thoughtful, right ?!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Claire this is such a lovely idea and I'd like to use it as an opportunity to nominate my Mum!

She's been a constant source of encouragement for me and has dragged me kicking and screaming out of my comfort zone while stepping out of hers. It's largely down to her encouragement that I'm crafting and enjoying the new friendships it has brought me...

    ReplyDelete
  50. Fun competition!
I nominate my sister who is a scrapbooker too (and hopefully I can convert her to be a card maker soon). She has been sending me tons of birthday cards for the past two weeks leading up to my 30th birthday. It really makes my day to get them since I'm so far away from home.

  51. Awesome, awesome contest!

I totally nominate my blogging friend Tanis. Now, obviously we have never met and only know each other thru blog comments and email. Well, she made a fab card and I left her a comment on her blog one day like always. I also happened to mention that I loved the stamps she was using...Less than and hour later, a gift certificate arrived in my inbox from her! She told me Merry Christmas and to get what was on my wish list!!! Can you believe it??? I was gobsmacked! I would LOVE to suprise her with something from you Claire, so I'm crossing my fingers that random number picker is good to me :)

  52. Tis the season to think of our blessings ... a great thought.
I'd say my grandson and his new wife who have been staying with us for several weeks till they get their own place. Both are unfailingly nice and go out of their way to be helpful. All my Christmas "stuff" is stored in the basement and they have made endless trips up and down toting my bags and boxes of things to decorate the house. Unasked for help, cheerfully given ... what could be better?

    ReplyDelete
  53. It is hard to make a choice but I want to nominate my son Lou, 7, every single day, I am very happy to have this boy as a son as he is very bright, very clever. I love talking with him as he always surprises me with his way of thought. I'm so proud of him.

  54. Hi Claire! Just last night 8 wonderful teacher/friends on my staff at school stayed late to help me run movie night for our parent/teacher group. They were cheerful and fun and one even made dinner for everyone. I love them and don't know what I would do without them. One of them is a crafter, sometimes she comes over to play. She is a little more "spartan" in her material hording and collecting and she is fascinated with my cuttlebug. LOL

  55. I nominate my mama. Had baby# 2 just under 2 weeks ago. Mom is over almost evry day making dinner for us, taking care or baby so I can get some errands done or taking DS 3 off my hands so I can nap with the baby. Couldn't have gotten through these past 2 weeks without her-and certainly wouldn't have eaten that well!!!!
Thanks for the chance to win!

  56. What a nice challenge, I've enjoyed reading through them! I have a crafty friend named Lora who has recently gone through some rough times, as have I, and she is still willing to send me emails and comment on my blogs to encourage me. I have started to design stamps and for a while got a bit miffed that none of them would sell, but her one email lifted my spirits tenfold with the words of encouragement they contained!

    ReplyDelete
  57. I'm going to nominate my neighbour. While we were all snowed in she was able to get her 4x4 out and went foraging for essential supplies for us. Such a sweet heart.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I would like to nominate Cindy Motherway, aka Mothermark at Splitcoaststampers! She hosts a weekly challenge called "Teapot Tuesday". It started as a silly little challenge where we made cards inspired by the teapots in her collection. It has turned into SO MUCH MORE! Each week she has a Destination Station and has us all send our challenge card to a person or family in need...whether it is someone who has a special birthday, or who is ill, people in the military, or just going through a rough time. She then sends us emails with ALL of these wonderful thank-yous and pictures from the recipients. I know that Cindy's Teapot stories, sample cards, posts, and emails take SO MUCH time to organize, but she really is changing the world 1 card at a time. So THANK YOU CINDY! I know I placed you on the "OTHER" list once, but you are 100% NICE (and boy does Santa know it!!)

    ReplyDelete
  59. Although I have several I can nominate - you asked for one .... so I will randomly pick one! I will talk about my husband - he is a sweetheart, no matter how tired he is, or how late it is he will do anything for me. I was running on empty, looking at a very late night, still had to go to the supermarket to pick up food for lunches the next day - my darling husband (who was all ready for bed) put his outside clothes on, weathered a storm that was going on, filled up my car and did my errands for me! Gotta love him!

  60. What a truly lovely idea and so in keeping with the 'spirt of the season'! Bravo, Claire!!

I nominiate my good, stampy friend, Cathy! I have been paper crafting in a monthly club with Cathy for about 5 years. Cathy has many health challenges due to a cancer diagnosis in her teens. She is now 46 years old and continues to tackle each day with a smile on her face! Her heart and lungs were so severely damaged from all the rounds of chemo she had to endure, that she is now on full oxygen 24/7 and has the burden of carrying around a heavy tank and equipment with her everywhere she goes.

Recently we had our monthly stamp club here at my houseand Cathy was the host, earning the free host rewards from Stampin' Up!. Cathy chose to use some of her free rewards to purchase everyone in club, including me, a supply item from the catalog. Now if that isn't the nicest thing, from one of the nicest ladies I know, I don't know what IS! Cathy is truly an angel on earth and I am blessed to call her my friend!!

    Hugs,

    Debbie

  61. I would LOVE to nominate my friend Ginger (Claire Hamer) because she's just a ray of sunshine. She is kind and generous to a fault and just the best tonic on a cruddy day!
I love to watch her with people because she brings a smile to everyone's face-just wonderful!
Anyway I'm really inadequate with words to describe how lovely Ginge is which is why I make cards instead!!

  62. I nominate Sharron Gregory, a wonderful Christmas Angel for me this year:) My oldest son (he's 8) has started hearing the rumblings at school from classmates that Santa isn't real. I knew it was coming but was not prepared for it so soon, especially since this little guy has NEVER been able to keep a secret and we have a 4 yr. old as well. His challenge for me is that Santa wrap the gifts (which we've never done) and of course that would mean special tags since it's coming from Santa, and he knows what our tags look like (and my supplies) since he's my little craft *approver* (he usually wants me to always add bling:)!). So being new to stamping, I found PTI a few months back, which has now led me to WMS (nothing but compliments on the forum over there for you:). And after seeing the *secret* set knew it would be perfect for this emergency, but wasn't sure if I could get it here to the states in enough time to have them done before they are out for Christmas break, so I went to the PTI forum asking for some help and had so many wonderful suggestions and offers (I totally agree that this crafting community is FULL of some of the most wonderful, helpful people you will ever find). Sharron had a set she offered to me :) Had purchased last year at release for a project for her grandchildren but didn't get it done and didn't anticipate using this year so I was able to get it through her and it arrived in 2 days! So not only do I have my first, perfect WMS stamp set, I will be able to get special tags done next week while the kiddies are in school! I can see this set getting a lot of use over the next few years with my kiddies, and then someday (WAAAYYY in the future), I see helping keep the magic alive for little grandchildren with this set!:)
And on a different note, Thank You WMS for NOT doing a release this month! This month is always hard with the Holidays, with 4 kiddies and family...money is always very tight. And my first WMS order will be coming in January when funds are not so tight, and I don't have to be bummed in the meanwhile knowing I'm having to wait...Love so many of your sets, I died on my first visit and can't wait to get all the gorgeousness in my stash!
Have a wonderful and Merry Christmas!

  63. I must nominate the nice masonry craftsman that is working on a number of homes in my neighborhood. One chilly morning a few weeks back I stepped outside in my nightgown to take some photos for my craft blog. My three year old shut the door behind me, locked me out! I knocked and pleaded for my three year old to unlock the door only to realize after about 20 minutes that every single door leading to the outside had those trusty plastic child safety handles. My three year old quickly became bored with talking to me through the window and disappeared into the house. I rang and rang and rang the doorbell over and over again. He came back a few times but the time between each visit became longer and longer. Guess he built up a tolerance for that pesky doorbell. I just wanted him to play where I could see him. I finally realized I needed help. I walked my barefoot-night gown wearing-mother of the year butt down the street and asked this nice worker if I could borrow his phone. He was very compassionate and gracious. He let me use his phone to call in the calvary (my husband) and let me use it to call my three year old on the phone while I waited outside in the cold with my head pressed against the window for 45 minutes. My three year old was chatting up a storm the whole time so I knew he was safe. Thanks to the nice masonry worker down the street.

  64. I would like to nominate my grand-nephew Aidan...I spotted a paper turkey he had made in school for Thanksgiving ..it listed the things he was thankful for on the feathers..and on one it said "my aunts" which included me and my niece. I was very touched and I felt very loved.

  65. What a fantastic idea.....and it was so nice to read everyone else's nominations.

I would have to nominate my husband Heath. Even though we haven't had the snow as bad as some other areas he has managed to get to work everyday. He's called in for shopping on the way home to keep our cupboards stocked up and he evens cooks food for us all (cos he's a better cook than me lol). He is my guardian angel - always looking out for me.

    My email is denisemorgans@aol.com

Thanks for the chance to win. Hugs, Denise x

  66. I would like to nominate Ed, a colleague of my husband who hasn't got a clue about stamping etc but was willing to change a non working punch for a working punch in a shop where I ordered it which is about 2 1/2 hours from where I live. I ordered it on-line but sending it back would cost a lot of money. Ed lives near the shop and travels to where my husband works once a week.

  67. It is such a joy to read these wonderful stories. It's so important for each of us to stop every now and then and count our blessings.

I definitely have to nominate my husband. He is my best friend and I often say that he is the nicest man that I know. He shows it in all the little things that he does. For example, he cooks - he made me a lovely chicken pot pie last night with puff pastry and double cream. Wonderful! He irons - he does most of the ironing, but especially when we are getting ready to go out he will always iron something last minute if I need it, while I'm getting ready. He loves to go shopping with me - need I say more? He rubs my feet (without complaint) almost every night while we are relaxing after a long day. And best of all, he not afraid to show affection - he willingly holds my hand and gives the best hugs. He works from home when he's not traveling, so when he's home we always have lunch together and we've made it a habit that we end each lunch time with a big hug. Love it! I'm so blessed to have him in my life.

  68. I would like to add my sister Tina to the nice list. She's very generous and gives a lot of herself. Last weekend I was feeling kinda down and she knew I needed to get my hair done. She bought my hair color and picked me up to go to her house. Then Tina, my niece and myself got together and colored each other's hair and then made a trip to the salon for new lids. We shared food, stories and quite a few laughs. It really made my day! We are both crafters and love getting together when we can to share our hobby.
Thanks for the chance to win, it's funny how just playing along is so enjoyable and lifts your spirits!

  69. I nominate my friend Cathy (also a crafter). She has been struggling lately with medical issues yet still always manages to make time for friends. She is always thinking of others and thinks nothing of picking an item up at a craft store just because she thinks I'll like it. she is an amazing person and friend and I'm truly blessed to have her in my life.

  70. Sweetness! Well there are a ton of people that I could mention...really. But there is one young man that has been supper nice to me, we have a couple of classed this semester. He is very nice and helpful and I am thankful for that!

Thanks for a chance to win some WMS...I have a HUGE wish list...so I hope you pick me! LOL!

Blessings and Hugs from across the pond.

  71. I really have the most amazing circle of friends... it's hard to chose just one person to nominate. I did narrow down my choices though. It's a toss up between my sister who makes that most amazing little gifty-things for people just because... or my friend Jenn who comes by on a whim and gathers up any number of my 5 children when I least expect it (but truly need it) and lets me have a break. (My sister lives 600 miles away so she can't).

  72. What a lovely and kind idea! I am very touched reading all the nominations.

I would like to nominate my cousin Cath. (She is not a crafter but loves receiving my handmade cards) who is the kindest person and is like a sister to me. For my 50th birthday she gave me her late mother's ruby wedding anniversary ring knowing that my own Mother and Father have passed away and that I had nothing personal from them to remind me of them. She said her mother - that is my Aunt - would have wanted me to have the ring with her love. I was overwhelmed when I opened my gift and can't thank her enough for all that she does for me.

Sorry to sign in as anonymous but I do not have a blog.

  73. Awww, what a lovely idea, Claire.

I would like to nominate my dear crafting friend, Lana, who had an operation earlier this week. Unfortunately, she isn't feeling too great at the moment and I think it would cheer her up to know that we (other crafting buddies) are all thinking of her. I'm sure she would love to receive a little prezzie from you. It would certainly brighten her day. Thanks, Claire. x

  74. I have to nominate two people, my mum and dad. I have been ill for 17 yrs now and I have a hubby and 10 yr old son. My mum and dad come round every day and tidy up for me, help me prepare dinner and pick Conor up from school and help with his homework. They also get my weekly groceries. Without their help I would never have made it this far. They put up with all my sick days when I can do nothing, listen to all my moans and buy all my cards lol. They have got to be the best parents ever.

  75. i'm going to nominate my dear mother in law. Our son is now 2 and a half years old and i tell you at times it hard work and today she has been a god send!!. I help at a local brownie pack and they arranged to go to a nearby zoo and my MIL said she would come with us which meant i could take our son. Its been a cold, wet and snowy day but if she hadn't of come i think i would heve struggled. She 70+ and at times she has more energy and patients than me. So i would like to nominte my dear MIL for being totally fab and such a great support.

  76. My hubby would get my nomination every single day for all of the little nice things he does. Helping unload the dishwasher, folding clothes and so many other things. But most of all for encouraging me in everything I want to pursue - starting with digitial scrapbooking, photography and now paper crafting. So nice for my best friend and husband to be the same person.

    ReplyDelete
  77. I would like to nominate my dear neighbour and friend. She always looks out for me, telling me if the roads are bad as she usually goes out and back before me. If I am away when I get back there will be a piece of cake she has baked and best of all she is the ironing angel. If I go away and leave ironing when I get back it is all done! I've tried to make sure I don't leave any for her as I don't want to take advantage, but then she asks where it was when I get back LOL.

  78. I would like to make mention of my husband, who is probably one of the nicest people I know. He is a disabled US Veteran and is unable to work outside the home, so he spends his days washing dishes, doing the laundry, vacuuming, preparing meals, and caring for our 4 dogs, 2 cats, chinchilla and 2 aquariums. He also runs errands and takes our kids to appointments and babysits our 2 year old granddaughter...all this without a single complaint! He also helps those in need. A few evenings ago when we were returning home from an appointment, we saw a gentleman in his vehicle stuck in a snowbank. Without hesitation, my husband pulled over and tried to assist the man in getting his car out. When his attempts failed, he offered to make a phone call for the man to get help. We stayed at the scene and allowed the man to sit in our warm car until a family member arrived with a truck to pull the man's car out. My husband also mows the neighbor's yard without being asked and helps them shovel out snow from their walkway along with shoveling out the postal carrier's path to the mail boxes. My husband is always kind and generous and constantly tells me how important I am to him, so I would like to highlight him for the nice things he does for me and anyone else he comes in contact with.

    ReplyDelete
  79. I would have to nominate one of our drivers/service techs at work. This past Thursday we got over a foot of snow in just a few hours and he was nice enough to help me shovel my car out so I could make my way home. Thanks Sam!!

    ReplyDelete
  80. Well, Claire, you are definitely on my nice list! What a generous and fun Christmas game you have given us!

My other nominee is my husband. Work has been extra stressful the past few weeks, and my husband is always there with a supportive ear and a wonderful back massage to work out all of those knots I get from worrying all the time. I am beyond grateful for him and to him.

    ReplyDelete
  81. My wonderful friend treated me to dinner out at a place that wasn't exactly cheap. We had a wonderful time laughing and enjoying the evening, thanks in part to her generosity. Thanks you for the chance to win!

  82. My dad. We needed a babysitter on wednesday night so we could go see Harry Potter, and because it started late we only got back home at 11.30pm, on a work night, and he had to drive 20 minutes back to his. Last night he also agreed to let us stay over with him and babysit again, as there was a spare place at my works do and my husband took the place! He didn't complain once!

    ReplyDelete
  83. How wonderful! I nominate one special parent who has been keeping me informed on the progress of one of my most precious students who has been very ill. He's now home and out of intensive care, but isn't returning to school for quite a long time. I'm amazed at their strength in such a difficult time.

  84. I have had probably the worst year of my life and if it wasn't for my husband, I'm not sure how I would have made it through.

My mom lived with me and we were best friends. She took care of so much in my house. When she was diagnosed with cancer this year and passed away 3 months later, my world was rocked. My husband did whatever he could to make my load bearable. He picked up so much slack as I tended to my mom either in the hospital every night or at home. He also provided support emotionally and still continues to do so as I face the holidays without her.

For all these reasons, I nominate my husband. Thanks for letting me brag on him!!

  85. Hi,
I would like to name my friend J.

I am so very thankful for that!!

  86. I would like to nominate my husband. While I was gone visit my sick Dad in NY, he finished painting the hall, put the 5 doors back on, and painted the tall ceiling trim-and he hates to paint. He cleaned up all the mess too.

    ReplyDelete
  87. I would like to nominate the driver of the huge JCB digger that came into my street this morning to dig us out from under 2 foot of snow and ice. Being snowed in for a week isn't as fun as it sounds so he really did make my day today. No idea of his name but his halo was shining brightly :)

    ReplyDelete
  88. I nominate my great friend Cali. She always does nice things for me, but she goes above and beyond on my birthday. Growing up, birthdays were not a huge deal so I'm fine having them be just another day. But not Cali! She insists on celebrating...BIG. She has been talking about my birthday for weeks...and it's not until the 7th! I truly treasure her friendship!

  89. I would like to nominate my husband. I lost a good friend lately over something very silly, it messed me up big time & my better half has been my shoulder to cry on & I have cried alot :(

  90. My husband is always (well, nearly always) nice to me. He cooks and shops and cleans and washes and irons and I waste time crafting! He recently made me a set of salt and pepper mills (turned them up out of blackwood) for my volunteer group at the hospital who are running a Christmas raffle. He dug over my vegetable garden and pulled out all the weeds so I could replant. He took all the empty cardboard boxes to the tip so that they were not cluttering up the garbage. He let me sleep in this morning and often brings me a cuppa in bed. So, I nominate him. One of nicest people I know!

    ReplyDelete
  91. Today I attended a Christmas art fair, and I saw many people I know. One stands out, however. Mina retired some years ago now, and she is one of the sweetest ladies I know. I had not seen her in quite a while. She gave me a hug when we first started chatting, and another when we were done. I got a nice hug from her husband, too!

    ReplyDelete
  92. Claire, what a great idea. I would nominate my dear hubby (he is a crafter-woodburning, tatting, some paper crafts) He retired three years ago and while I still work he is has taken over the house cleaning, always welcomes me with open arms asks about my day and is so supportive. I started a weight loss program and even though he does not need to loose much weight he is doing it with me so there are no temptations out and it keeps me on track and belive me this makes a big difference. He is the best.

    ReplyDelete
  93. my friend and coworker Natalie - she brought my son Kaden home from school yesterday so I didn't have to drive all the way up there again since I had to stay home with the younger son who was sick!

    ReplyDelete
  94. I love how the stories are all so long! I nominate my mom's postal carrier. She recently moved to a nursing home and I have been collecting her mail and trying to send back the non-bill items in hope that these people will take her off their mailing lists. I dropped a big bunch in the local mail box and the mail carrier said, "thanks." I told him not to thank me because I was returning a bunch of mail he had just delivered. He didn't complain but instead said that I could just gather it up and put "moved" on the bundle and leave it on her mailbox and he would take it back for me. How nice is that! No idea what his name is but he made my day Friday!

    ReplyDelete
  95. I have the blues and I don't feel like making Christmas decoration and I was telling one of my friend about it. She promptly offer her help and told me she was going to come and help me make my christmas decorations. So for that she is at the top of my list. She would love to start scrapbooking but don't have the money.
So thank you for giving us the opportunity of winning stamps.

Have a good week ans say thank you to your aunt.

    ReplyDelete
  96. This is such a wonderful idea! I would have to nominate my dear hubby. He does a million and one nice things for me on a regular basis, but I especially appreciate on the weekends when he drops everything to spend quality time with the kids while I get some much-needed time to myself. He works very hard all week and much of the weekend, but he knows how important it is to me to recharge for a bit. I'm a lucky gal in so many ways!

  97. I'm not sure my posted went through so I want to re-do it here (if there are 2 posts of mine, please just take one :)

I want to nominate my husband who is a very supportive fella! He cooks breakfast for me and takes care of our 1 year old son while I'm at work. At lunch time I get back home and he's ready for work. He supports my stamping hobby and he doesn't even complain!

Ok this post is pretty much similar to the one I think I lost. I hope this one can be posted :)
Thanks for the chance to recognize our "heroes"!
All of the submissions are so sweet!
    Happy Holidays everybody!

  98. Cute idea, Claire! I am nominating my super fab mom--in-law. We live in Manhattan and I still can't get along without a regular old shopping mall where I can find things like underwear! Well, my little boy was sick and it has just started to get super cold here and I was unable to find any warm pajamas for him anywhere I looked! So, my mother in law went to the store 3000 miles away in California and overnighted as many pairs of pjs as she could find. It was something nice for both me AND my little guy, who is all better! XOXO

  99. what a fun and sweet contest to have, claire. there are many people who have been so kind to me this year, but there is one special person who did something for me that was so very simple, but in my book really, really big. her name is linda and she is a "friend i haven't met, YET". i "met" her last year through an online stamping group i participate in. since early this year she has struggled with a devastating illness and hasn't been able to do much papercrafting or blogging. i recently celebrated my birthday (dec. 3rd) and what was waiting for me in my email inbox that morning but a heartfelt birthday message for me from her. it was one of the nicest things anyone has ever done for me.

  100. I nominate my mother. I'm traveling a bit at the moment, visiting family & friends, and she's always there to help me with last minute preparations and to drive me and pick me up from the airport. I truly appreciate that I can always count on her. AND she's the one who got me started on making cards and who bought me my first stamp! I'm grateful that she taught me the value of handmade cards and gifts!

    PS: cute contest!

  102. I would nominate my husband Paddy - although not into crafting at all he's pretty supportive of all the mess the house gets into when i'm "in the zone!". Last week we had appalling snow and he braved the elements to put up signs at either end of the village for the church craft fayre. I've really enjoyed reading all the posts, particularly the poor girl who was stuck outside in her dressing gown!

  103. I have so many special people to nominate for your Nice list! But my dear friend Susi, has gone above and beyond. We lost our dear little dog Linus in a car accident recently and she has been so thoughtful, supportive and a shoulder to cry on. Susi is the best!!

  105. This is such a cool competition, Claire - everyone wins, just reading all the nice things people in all our lives have done!

I'm nominating my sister Pat, who lives far away from me so we rarely see each other. Although I am the one who introduced her to stamping, she has been at it for many years while I got away from all things crafty in meantime, and just in the last year or so got back into it. She came up with the idea that we should set our ow
n 'challenges' to each other so we take )turns coming up with things we have to do when making that week's card or LO challenge. But mostly, she is my best friend and the one who keeps my spirits up when they are down and who cheers with me when good things happen!

  106. This is a wonderful contest! I have to say that my BFF, and crafting buddy, Tanna, has done something nice lately. She is always such a supportive friend no matter what is going on with her. She brought me some things up to my work that I had left at her house. It was a special trip for her, so I really appreciate it!

  107. I would nominate my sister Charmin. She helped fill up my family meter over Thanksgiving. My daughter has recently moved out and so I'm an empty-nester now and have been a bit lonely so she invited me over to her place (a couple hours away) for the holiday. I also went over for her cancer surgery the week before and will go back for Christmas. The closest family I have now that has time for me, lol!

    ReplyDelete
  108. I must nominate my husband, Paul. For the past week he has been my 'nurse' while I had the flu. He helped with the holiday meal, did ALL the dishes, laundry and hanging of the Christmas decorations outside. Not to mention trips to the pharmacy for medication and making sure I had plenty of TLC.

It gave us a piece of mind and we enjoyed our weekend much more!

  111. What a great idea this is!
I just read the whole list of the nice things people have been doing, and it really is heart warming!
I would like to nominate a friends mum.
She is just so kind and always ready to drop things/ change plans to help out when ever she can with what ever she can.
At the moment she is selling my homemade christmas cards making no profit for herself. And when I went to drop them off last week I told her that we are really beginning to feel the money pinch as my husband has been unemployed for a long while now, staight away she asked what we had planned for christmas and invited us ( my 2 and 3 yr old sons and husband) over to celebrate christmas with them! and then delivered a basket of homemade bread and goodies! She really is such a lovley thoughtful lady. especially since I and my husband both lost our mums and we live in different countrys from our own families.
    I think she's a winner even if this dosn't win here :O)
    HAve a lovely day
    Hugs Nina x

  112. I nominate my husband who is always there for me. He forgives my blunders, cares for me when I'm ill & has a great sense of humour - can get me laughing when I'm feeling down. This week he has been driving me around because he knows I hate driving in the snow & ice.

  113. I recently was blown away by the generosity of an old friend that I met many years ago while I was on vacation in Portugal...as it turned out, this older couple lived not too far from me in California, so we exchanged contact information and have kept in touch via email mostly for the last 13 years! Being that our family has experienced severe financial hardship in the last 2 years, out of the blue this friend sent me a check for $500! I was so blessed and helped, especially at Christmas with all the extra expenditures. I nominate this wonderful retired gentlemen who has shared with me & my family so modestly & selflessly.

  114. What a fun contest! I would like to tell you about my hubby who does something wonderful for me every single day!! He cooks, cleans, takes care of the boys - you name it, he does it! Right now he's out shopping with the boys so I can have some quiet time, and he does this on a regular basis. I am a lucky woman!!

Oh, and he's a crafter too - when we first started dating, he made me some handmade cards - how's that for even more awesome?!

  115. Hi Claire,

I'd love to nominate one of my sisters; Jacqueline. Life hasn't been easy for her. She raised a son with autism, her husband has been very ill and not able to work. She decided to work more to have a decent income for a decent living. on top of that she had some health issues of herself. Never complaining, always smiling and always there for me. She is an amazing and very talented woman.
    I love her to pieces!!!

    Thanks for the wonderful challenge!

  117. Claire - this is a fantastic idea.

I'm going to nominate my darling husband Jonathan. He's my best friend, my support, my love - he's the best dad in the world (Kathryn assures me this is the case).

He's totally understanding about this addication of my mine and actually goes out to buy stuff for me!! He's even gone as far as suggesting that I get a Cricut Expression (but I can think of so many other bits I need/want instead). But the best thing is that we can share my addication - I can use his photos in my cards - bliss!

    Thanks Claire.

  118. Only just yesterday my 7 year old daughter made me a card. I am known as the only resident card maker so her card was extra beautiful, especially seeing I was going through a bit of a rough patch. Her perfect gate folded card had the word MOM written on the outside and 5 star stickers with coordinating outlines drawn on them which I thought was rather artistic (*note to self* CASE this gorgeous card) and on the inside she wrote: "When I feel like the world is upside down, I think of you and it's all better now!". Awwwww. I am so blessed. So, I totally nominate my gorgeous and creative 7 year old Gemma, who knows how to put a smile on my face in a flash.

  119. I'd like to nominate my friend Heather who is performing with me in a show called "Winter Wonderettes". She bought adorable blue wool coats for the four of us to wear at the downtown Christmas tree lighting when we sang songs from our show and then GAVE them to us that night. It was such a sweet surprise! She doesn't stamp, but I know she's crafty because she's been taking a knitting class. :)

  120. Definitely my friend Amy! Last week she took my 4 year old for the day, even though she has 4 children of her own and homeschools the oldest three (ages 6 to 10). I also have two-year-old twins and it is nice to have a break from any of them once in a while! thanks for the chance to win a great prize!

  121. I have to nominate my Mom. She's out visiting with my family this week and has been amazing to help me with the cooking, the cleaning, fixing upping, letting my kids jump all over her (in a playful way, of course) etc. etc. etc. I'm very busy with 4 little ones so her help has been so appreciated. What a great idea for a giveaway....it's been wonderful reading through these comments.

  122. this is a tough one. i have been truly blessed by wonderful people around me - both online and in real life. it's amazing what new friends I have also made this year and how far i have grown as a newbie stamper.

but this award of nicest person has to go to a friend who has been there for me this year. With all my crazy travel this friend has taken care of my two precious kitties, provided countless rides to the airport, and helped me out whenever I was in a jam (and I had many this year, especially medically related). It's someone i can count on, and there aren't too many of those around!

Thanks Claire for putting this Nice List Question up. It made me take some time out of the day to really reflect and be grateful of what I have had this year.

  123. I would like to nominate my fabulous boyfriend of 7 years...
I am having a really hard time with my pregnancy, and he is there every step of the way for me...
He calms me down, he cheers me up, he loves me and he even tells me that I am pretty...

I really would be lost without the guy!

  124. I would like to nominate my boyfriend, who must be the most patient and kind person in the world. He goes out of his way to get me maximum scrapbooking time even if it means doing all the chores AND he puts up with my scrap stuff lying all over our flat.

    ReplyDelete
  125. I just have to nominate my husband. He works hard, studies for his master degree and he still has time to make me laugh and to design something for my cards. He would say he is not a crafter, but since he is doing graphic design, I would say he is :) And, I am pretty sure he is using my cuttlebug when I am away. ;)

  126. I nominate my son who dug our car out of the snow then went on to dig out the whole street, it took all day and even though he has ended up with a awful cold he has gone out everyday for nearly two weeks and cleared the snow of family and neighbours paths

  127. What a lovely idea - I've read through a few and can't wait to read through the rest!! I'm nominating my friend Beth who stands beside me thick or thin and is such a great support to me! When my husband was in a motorcycle accident just before Christmas last year, she came to our house (50 miles each way!) to bring dinner and even helped me buy and bring home our Christmas tree (she was 7 months pregnant at the time!) She's crafty like me but finds it hard to make time with a 6 month old. I'd love to pass along some lovely new goodies to her as a huge thank you and then offer to watch her son while she stamps!!

  128. I am so glad I waited till today to post my comment! My Mom would have to get the nomination. I found out today that I have pneumonia and the doctor wants me to rest, and she is coming over every day for the rest of the week to help out!

What a great competition Claire--it's so nice to read about the good in people . . . .

  129. I want to nominate a patient of mine(I'm a nurse). I went in expecting the worst and I came out of the room thinking how thankful that I had the opportunity to care for this woman!! She was so kind and thankful for the services that we offered, instead of complaining that we didn't do something right or quick enough!!

  130. Hi Claire
I would like to nominate my sister Dorothy (a primary teacher and sometimes crafter). Not only is she my sister but she is also my bestest friend. I have had a tough few years and she has always been there for me. We do everything, go everywhere, together, craft shows, concerts and holidays - she often books for us to stay over and always foots the bill. She books concert tickets to surprise me, often buys me flowers to cheer me up and pays for our annual holiday each year. She has baled me out so many times, I don't know where I would be now without her support. She even came by taxi last Saturday to help dig out my car and clear my drive as I had been snowed in for over a week. I love her dearly

  131. I would nominate My Aunt ... my inspiration in life ... at 83 having undergone a double mastectomy, a broken hip and numerous health issues ... having lost both their daughters ... She still afford a smile and a sense of humour ... she continues to look after her 87yr old husband who has suffered a few strokes ... she even collected snow to boil last week when they had no water ... she is the wisest, strongest and kindest woman I know ... always there for me and continues to create for charities too ... I love her

  132. I would like to nominate my friend Shelly. When my mom was diagnosed with cancer I spent quite a bit of time away from my family to be with her. Shelly stepped right in and just handled things like picking my kids up from school, getting them to their activities, feeding them and bringing food out to our house. When my mom passed away just four months later, Shelly purchased a tree for us to plant in her memory. She is a great friend who always goes the extra mile to help out those in need. She is also a crafter.

  133. For me it would be my husband and kids. I was recently laid off from my job and they have been there for me. Offering encouraging words, helping with everything. It has been great to see this family pull together! Also I have a good friend who calls my almost everyday to see how I am doing and lets me know about jobs she has seen or heard off. Thanks

  134. I nominate my dear friend "Moni" - since we know us, she has always a helping hand for me.
She was one of the most important people, who helped us when our son died.
This year our daughter is in Canada(as a gueststudent)and Moni invited us for christmaseve´,because it will be our first christmas without kid.She doesn´t want us to be alone...
    Isn´t that real friendship!?
Hugs to her and every helping person, Gabi MeWi

  136. I would like to nominate my dad. He is father of nine children (who all went through homeschooling at least up till high school - that should say enough in itself), but recently he had to quit his job at a steel company because of issues with the new manager. After a couple months of struggle, he has managed to set up his own successful consulting business, which is flourishing. I am just SO proud of him, and that's why I'm nominating him.

Thanks for this chance, Claire! :) Warmest wishes to you and your family!
    Hugs!
    Clare (without an 'i' ;))

  137. I nominate my coworker and friend Lindsay. She watched my dog for a few days while we were away and I know she cared for her very well!

  138. What a fab idea, thanks Claire!

I would nominate my friend, Denise, for the nice list! She is always there to help me when I need it. She will watch my kids for me at the last minute, and is there to listen when I need to vent!

She is a crafter, but doesn't do much creating right now. She comes over to stamp with me sometimes, though, which is so fun!

  139. This competition could not have better timing! Yesterday when I won a US cardmaking challenge they informed me that they unfortunately wouldn't hship prizes internationally. When I told my friend Henna she started calling and e-mailing and soon she had arranged for it to get here - and before Christmas too!!! I think that was supersweet (she's a crafter too so I think she knew how much it would mean to me) of her and shows "everyday niceness". So my nominee is HENNA VEITCH!!!

  140. There are sooo many people that I could nominate but the first one that came to mind was my neighbor and friend, Trina, who came and stayed with me the morning that my daughter died. It was just 2 months ago that my daughter passed away following a very long, difficult illness. My husband, the hospice nurse and our Bishop were with me but my friend felt inspired to come too. She was a huge support and helped in ways that I didn't know I needed help that morning. She is a true friend, being by my side in the most difficult times as well as the good.

  141. It would have to be my friend Carol. She is there to share my joy with as well as my trials and tribulations. We also share a passion of stamping and have a great time when we get together to stamp. She is so generous and would share anything except her husband. I just love her.

    ReplyDelete
  142. I nominate my neice. She's staying with us while she starts a new job in our town. We crossed many folks off our christmas list today...she helped shop and we had lunch and a wonderful "simple" easy day. Anji B.

  143. There are so many people who come to mind as I am blessed to know many, MANY kind, giving and generous people who deserve to be on the 'nice list'. But the one I would have to pick above all others is my friend Robbin. Robbin is that one friend I know I can turn to no matter what. She knows more about me than anyone else on the planet. She is kind and generous to a fault and always been there for me. At one point in my life I wasn't sure where I was going to live, she opened the doors of her home to me without a thought, even offerred me my own room. She rescues homeless animals, is very involved with her church and is an amazing and supportive military spouse and mother. She never has a mean word about anyone and is always there to listen. I wish everyone could have a friend like Robbin. So, she is my 'nice list' nominee. She too is a stamper and an artist as well, though she hasn't picked up her stamps in a few years. Thanks for the chance to win Claire, and thanks for the chance for me to honor my dear friend.

  144. I would like to nominate my grown up son who still lives with us as he has a debilitating long-term illness which started when he was 15. He doesn't complain about his quality of life and he escorts me to the bus stop every morning when I leave for work to make sure I don't slip on the ice and meets me there on my way back from work because he doesn't want me to walk home in the dark. He also helps me with the housework and I appreciate his love, concern and help so much.

  145. I nominate my friend Kathryn who was there for me when I was going through my divorce. She stood by me, listened to me, cried with me and was there for me through this difficult time. I know I can count on her to be there for me for anything and for that I truely treasure her friendship.

  146. I know this may sound strange but I wish to nominate my boss. She has been fighting against breast cancer this year had all her treatment and yet still had time for me when my son was going though a bad time with his diabetes, I had to take a lot of time off.

  147. Hi Claire oh' what a beautiful idea this is,

  148. I mostly definitely must nominate my husband who is so good to me every day in so many ways. These are two of his recent treats: We have electric candles in 16 windows as part of our Christmas decorating. Usually as bedtime draws near, it seems like such a chore to turn off each of those candles, but hubby quickly moves about and has most off by the time I make it off the sofa, and as he is the first upstairs at night, he turns on my side of the electric blanket so I can crawl into a warm bed.

  149. I would have to nominate my mom! She is the most amazing person ever. SHe loves to craft and makes hundreds of cards each month for Operation Write Home. She is also a practicing physician! She is just always there for us, willing to do anything and everything. This has been a hard year for so many people and she is just that stable light who is always there. Often during school exams she jokes that she is a football coach- always telling me I can do it.

  150. Like so many others, there are a vast number of people that I could nominate who have been extra nice and helpful, but I absolutely have to say that my best friend and husband has been extra good to me lately.

I've not been feeling well for the past sevveral weeks with a medical issue and my husband has without being asked just stepped in and helped keep the house neat and tidy knowing how much I "need" that. :c)

Also, I've been playing along with Tim's 12 tags of Christmas and he's gone way over-the-top in making it possible to for me to create some of the tags. (If you read my blog, you know what I'm talking about - wow!)

I could write a book, but will leave it at these.

Thanks for such a great idea.

  151. I have to nominate several people because they are all part of a group who are near and dear to my heart. I belonged to a stamping group back when I lived in Colorado almost 2 years ago, and I miss all those talented ladies dearly! The other evening my phone rang and all the ladies in that group called to wish me Merry Christmas and to tell me they were thinking of me. It truly warmed my heart as it was so unexpected. Thanks for having such a nice, warm and fuzzy kind of giveaway, Claire!

  152. I nominate my best friend in the whole wide world, Miss Molli! She's the best friend I could ask for and she's been there for me as I try to figure adjust to the post-college life. Recently, she truly honored me by letting me know that the best foster home her cat could have is mine! She's a super friend to me, and a refreshingly positive influence on my life!
I am a good friend back, I got her into papercrafting before I moved away. Hopefully we can set enough of our crafty budgets to make a trip happen!

  153. Goodness, I totally forgot to post before now and I am so down to the wire! Claire, this is such a wonderful idea. I want to nominate my neighbor--really both she and her husband. We are so lucky to have moved here and acquired such wonderful neighbors. There have been endless times when they have eagerly given us a hand. The most memorable was probably the day we had a squirrel get in the house. My hubby was sure that it must have gotten back out because we couldn't find it anywhere. Even had the dogs go sniff around! When I got to work the next morning, I kept worrying and called Sue. She went over to check and found the little guy sitting on our couch She had to take on the job of getting him out, without further damage to the house. Luckily after a few careful maneuvers she was successful. He had unfortunately already chewed around several windows but nothing on any surface was knocked over or broken. We always kid her about being the 'squirrel eliminator'!

  154. I manage depression ... during the holidays it manages me. I am a single mom and this is the first year no daughter has been home to get the holiday stuff ready. I wasn't going to put anything up because I was in such a funk. But, my wonderful boss grabbed two coworkers and a pizza and they came to my apartment and helped me put up the Christmas tree. I work for such a good guy - he gets it and he knew just what to do! He didn't ask me (he knew I'd say don't bother) - he just called to say he was stopping by and then he showed up on a mission. I am so lucky!

  155. My friend Michelle - aka Shelly. She is such a good friend and a good person. She has a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone. She knows when I am down and always cheers me up. She shares her tales of motherhood and I learn from her experiences as our children now exit the teen years into the twenties. She is my stamping buddy and we attend workshops, share supplies, and share our passion for this craft!

  156. My Mom is at the top of the nice list. Even though i'm married and have my own kids now, she's still always there for me...Helping me, loving me, and still always teaching me. She's my confidant and friend.

  157. What a fantastic list!
My husband has been extra nice to me. I had a big project for work that took up way too much time. He was a doll helping with the kids and house while I got it done. And then he helped me make the deadline with computer help and getting it posted off in the nick of time.
    Super good man.

  158. My 8-yr-old daughter, Bella recently surprised me. We've been cooking together a lot lately and our latest adventure was making pizzas. In addition to making pizzas, we painted a ceramic pizza plate and she surprised me because she painted "Mommy & Me" on it. She's so sweet and it was so nice of her to think of me that way.

  160. This is fabulous! So many people have touched my life in such a positive way in the past several months as my father slowly passed away due to early-onset Alzheimer's Disease (he was only 59 yrs old), many of them ladies I've never met in person but who have reached out to me through this wonderful world of crafting. But I have to say that there were 2 people who my Mom and I leaned on the most through these difficult times. First is my husband Joel, who has been through the worst of it with us the past few years - helping "babysit" my Dad so my Mom could have some time to herself (when it was just too emotionally difficult for me to be there), even bathing and changing my Dad before bed one night a week - right up to the final days when he sat and grieved right along with us as my Dad took his final breaths. Then there was one of my Dad's best friends, Jim, who was there to help us with those things that must be done but that you just don't want to deal with, especially after my Dad had passed - calling the mortuary to come get him, safely disposing of all of his meds, boxing up and donating the hospital-bed linens and supplies to hospice, picking up death certificates and mailing them off to all the many different agencies that require them, etc. I can't imagine how much MORE difficult this difficult time would have been without these two amazing men there to support my Mom and I. I only wish there were words adequate enough to thank them both.

  161. I need to nominate my dear friend for this! My garden this year grew absolutely nothing. Well, 3 pumpkins the size of softballs. This dear friend of mine had a garden that was very bountiful. Throughout the fall she brought me bushels of tomatoes, peppers, onions, corn and cucumbers. We now have a pantry full of dill pickles and salsa thanks to her generosity.

  162. I will have to say two of my friends that really went out of their way to help me when my dad passed away. My parents lived 4 hours away from where I live and I had ONE week to pack up my parents' house of 46 yrs., get Mom's finances in order, and get everything settled for her estate and move her near me. My 2 dear friends drove 4 hours and came to help me pack Mom's things for 2 days and one of the friends had a back problem!!! I was just so grateful and humbled by it all. They really helped me a lot. Love them dearly.
