...last days of 2010

I hope 2010 was good to you but I hope 2011 will be better! The last few days of 2010 have been even busier and crazier than the rest of the year if possible, and so I have only had 5 mins this evening to think about what I hope 2011 will bring!

Every year I make resolutions as many of us do, and I think it's time I stopped the charade! I usually line up all of the usual suspects such as "more exercise", "cooking from scratch" etc, etc and solemnly declare myself committed to the plan, which normally falls wide apart in the first few days.

Truth is, I have long been a skeptic of the planning process. I have friends who buy Christmas gifts in the January sales for next year, I know people who have their 2011 summer holidays already bought and paid for - good luck to them I say, but it's not my way.

Call me superstitious, call me unprepared, call me whatever, but I just cannot bring myself to do these things. When I attempt to plan such things I feel like I am taking things for granted, that's just how my brain works, it's no reflection on folks who have their plans laid already.

Truth is, I don't want to know what's coming, I don't want to see far into the future. I just want to look into my wee folks eyes this evening as I tuck them into bed, and hold onto that smile. It's enough.

So, I have no idea what's coming to Waltzingmouse Stamps this year!! I have loads of ideas and I have set some stuff in motion, but I don't hold hard and fast to any plan of action, I want to throw a few sparklers in the pot and see what happens! I will set a course, but I am happy to go with the flow if I find that it's more interesting! I hope you can come along at least some of the way. I don't think it will be a boring business trip ... 'cos I'm not really a business woman ... LOL! I'm a stamper!

Good luck and God Bless you and yours in 2011!

  1. I totally feel the same way! I hate to plan too far ahead. If something happens and disrupts the plans then I am dissapointed. This way always works for me.
Can't wait to see oyur new stamps. I really love the frame stamps for the spellbinders dies. :)
    Hugs!

  2. I'm with you Claire. Planning ahead is not in my nature. I love taking things one day at a time and see what unfolds. And as far as I can see Waltzingmouse if pretty amazing so far so I look forward to seeing what unfolds for 2011. Heres to the future and the wonderful adventure it brings.

  17. People call me a procrastinator, but maybe I am just like you. Live in the moment! Take one day at a time! Enjoy the little things! Now if only my bosses would adopt this attitude when they say that one of my reports is late. Wouldn't want to tell them something like "I HAD to stamp this card first BEFORE the report, to be eligible for a stamping contest" hee! Happy New Year, Claire! You could keep everything the same as last year at WMS and I would be happy as a clam!

  19. Happy New Year Claire.....I have the same cautious approach to New Year promises!!! My dad used to say
    "Man proposes, God disposes"!
I love the last line of your post.....and think that in part it explains your success.....looking forward to a Waltzingmouse 2011!

  21. Hi Claire its the best thing you can do ..go with the flow..other wise you are struggling all the time and feeling you run behind things instead of with.
Nothing more important than to enjoy having your kids around you ....before you know they are grown up.

  23. En français on dit : "En mai fais ce qu'il te plait" mais toi, Claire, tu as transformé cet adage et c'est devenu : Toute l'année je fais ce qu'il me plait !" :-D

In French we say : "In May, do what you want." But you, Claire, you have changed this saying by "All over the year I do what I want" ahahhah, and you are right !

I will be with you in 2011 again. And I am so happy as since I know your stamps, more and more Frenchies uses its too.

Have a very happy year in 2011.

    Bonne Année 2011.

ps : what I want for 2011 ? more WMS stamps in French ahhahahaha !!!

  25. A Very Happy New Year to you and yours.
I am much like you. I think of it as some plan their lives and some live theirs. I live mine, often with little to no plan. Hey! It works for me.

  26. Ahh, Claire - I agree! I try to plan mostly to slow down and not rush through each day. I plan to be flexible and willing to change my plans. I plan to be ahead of schedule to allow for the unexpected. But those are not resolutions and I've long ago given up on making promises to myself that I don't keep. I will just do my best and when I fail, then the next day is a new beginning. Just like 2011 is a new beginning.

    Happy New Year!!

  27. Claire, I love this cozy picture! It's been quite cold here, and I could use some warming up by the fire! Hope you all had a terrific holiday and are enjoying some quiet time together. I'm truly looking forward to 2011 with WMS!

  28. a tad late on my part to comment here - but i must say whatever you did in 2010, keep it going in 2011. I like your approach of keeping your ears and eyes open for opportunities, ideas or inspiration that may come along. life has an interesting way of surprising us, doesn't it?

Since I have created such an attachment to WMS, i'll be sticking around to see how 2011 turns out :) And I am truly excited for you and your darling DT and Mischief Makers!

    many loves & hugs!
