...Say hello to Holiday Labels No. 14

ED - the white cardstock in the second picture is a pre-finished cardstock with a very fine embossed stripe already in it, I think I purchased it at papermillshop.co.uk hth!

Good morning and welcome to the previews for the October WMS Stamp release! On Thursday 7th October we will be releasing 5 new clear photopolymer stamp sets here at the WMS blog and at the store. Between now and then, we will be previewing the new stamps here on my blog and also on the blogs of our DT.

Anyone who has been here before will know what a fabby team of girls we have supporting WMS and the ladies always put on quite a show! Today I am delighted to welcome Joan Bardee and Sandie Dunne to our team!!!

Lots of you will be familiar with these two ladies already, but just in case you've been visiting another planet, Joan hosts the very popular Paperlicious blog. Never afraid to experiment, Joan has a very striking design sense regularly producing stand-out CAS cards! Unpredictable - in a good way, Joan's is one of those blogs that often surprises and always delights. Sandie's blog - The crafty side of me is where you will find Sandie's beautiful creations. Sandie can turn her hand to anything, boxes, cards, scrapbook layouts, all beautifully co-ordinated and detailed, this woman knows no fear, she eats templates for breakfast...ooh and she's a real Irish woman...she actually speaks the language!

So, now that you have all the info, here's a list of who's previewing new WMS today (Carly is on a little break and will return soon!)

My first card today features the new set Holiday Labels No. 14. - Yes, you're right it co-ordinates with the recently released Spellbinders labels 14 die templates (#S4-290). Sweet.

I called this set Holiday Labels because the stamp designs are a wee bit bolder and brassier than our usual vintage label designs, I think it is particularly good set for the Holidays and I love using it with bolder colours! Having said that it won't stop me using it with my favourite Antique linen ink if I want a softer look! (And yes, there will be a Very Vintage labels No14 at some point in a future release if you are looking for more delicate designs)

For this card I stamped the polka dot label design in memento black ink onto kraft card and trimmed it with the co-ordinating die template. Then I coloured around the polka dots with a red copic. I chose to highlight the black dots with a little dot from a white gel pen, I thought it helped to consolidate the white on the rest of the card.

I stamped another polka dot label and trimmed out the centre panel with scissors, so that I could raise the sentiment up on dimensionals. The sentiment is from another set releasing on Thursday called Compliments of the Season. It's a little mini set containing a few vintage styled Christmas greetings.

The little snowflakes stamped in the background are from the Compliments of the Season set. The tree is from Teeny Trees (already released last month), I stamped the solid tree shape in white ink and then overstamped with the snowballs, then i stamped the trunk and finally dotted around the edge with a white gel pen. Trimmed it out and roughed the edges with a wee steak knife!

Today's second card also features the Holiday Labels No. 14 (I always include the number of the dies that the stamps co-ordinate with, and they are ALWAYS Spellbinder die templates, just in case you were wondering!lol).

It's a design based on the most popular stamp design form the Vintage Labels 4 set from way back when. It features a text background but I have added two checkerboard borders to this stamp. These look fabulous stamped and embossed in black ink, as I have done here. I stamped the label onto white cardstock and used copics to colour the red and green areas on the label, see, hose copics aren't just for colouring in your flower stamps!! Use them to add a bit of zing to your labels!

Again I stamped my label twice and then trimmed the centre panel out of the second impression, so that I could raise it up on dimensionals, I added the sentiment (Compliments of the Season) to this centre panel and added a little flower motif from one of the other stamp sets releasing Thursday, Big Blooms - Poinsettias.

I thought this made quite a strong focal point for my card and so I chose to mount it simply on a panel of white textured card, simply trimmed out with a Spellbinders Labels 17 Die Template (#S5-025). I thought this turned out quite a striking little card! lol.

Hope they tickle!!
