...inspiration everywhere

I positively wallowed in all of the fabulous cards and items that folks made for the WMS St Patrick's Day blog hop (scroll down to see my cards in the previous post!). It was a blast, I'll be going round again when the house is quiet this evening!

Thank you to everyone who took part, either posting or leaving comments or both! I hope you all enjoyed it! I do apologise for not being able to wait for the pre-arranged time! lol, I have absolutely no patience and I just couldn't wait! It was brilliant, if you haven't hopped along you can see the list here, do yourself a favour and take a wee notebook, there's a ton of inspiration!!

Talking of inspiration, here are a couple of decorated eggs that my mother made! Years ago my mum painted in oils and decorated eggs! My mum could do just about everything. Sadly mum is not able anymore, and the quick message here is do everything you can so's you don't regret it when you can't!

But the point of these pics is to show you where I got the inspiraton for the Nestie egg stamps I released last month! My mum has made some incredible decorated eggs from empty Goose eggs shells! this is one she made for me many years ago! I love it, wee houses are my very favourite and I treasure it!
She used to give them as gifts and there were some beauties, there was one with a double door, just like the stamp! Anyhow, just thought you folks might like a peep at them!

  1. Hello, sweetie,
Your Mum made a GORGEOUS egg!!! God look after her now in her hour of need.
When DH and I were engaged, back in the dark ages, we went to a New Yrs Eve do at a very posh stately home (before kids, loads of money hehe). An older lady there came right up to us and gave us her decorated goose egg for no reason at all other than she liked the look of us. I often think of her,
    SO
    THANKS for the egg stamps!!!!
    Many hugs
    Angela xxx.

  9. I'm so sorry your Mum can't do this any longer....I dread the day my hands won't allow me to function...and it's getting there more quickly than I care to think about....lovely egg...reminds me of a friend who did these two..in fact my husband used to get her some eggs. They are soooo delicate to work with and she, like you, must have had the patience of Job.
Please tell her we loved her work...it is an heirloom to treasure.

  10. What a beautiful egg! I used to decorate eggs as well--the Faberge style eggs were very popular a number of years ago and all my family members got their own eggs for gifts for a while. Thanks for the bit of nostalgia!

I literally gasped when I saw this! To see such awe inspiring talent, truly God given, is such an incredible vision. I'd love to see some of her oils, as well.
I will let you in on a little secret, Claire: when I saw your brown and blue eggs, I gasped in sheer awe, as well. You both have an incredibly inspiring gift! From her fingertips to yours :)

  19. How beautiful Claire! I just love things like this - My dad used to make small ones out of regular chicken eggs cutting out a circle in the middle. He had us making them as kids. We would use tiny images from Christmas cards we'd receive to create the little scenes inside and set them in a dab of plaster.

What a wonderful legacy from your mum!

  23. Oh my, I got a bit weepy there reading this post. What a lovely story - I like to hear where you get your inspiration from. It is so sweet how appreciative you are of your mom - past and present - and how talented she is - even if her ability to express that has diminished. What a lovely keepsake you have there, and a gem of a life lesson, too!
