Welcome to the August release!! I am so excited, which is great but I'm a bit of a headless chicken with so much to get through and show you all!!
I will be releasing 4 NEW STAMPSETS after I have shown you all the samples for the 4 sets, it could take a few days!!
I'm starting with a Halloween set 'Halloween Party'.
While I was thinking about Halloween, I decided I wanted a set that would be useful for making invitations to a Halloween Party - we usually have a party and so the main things I need are invitations and sweet/candy wrapping ideas.
I composed a Halloween invitation rhyme, the first verse of which is seen on the card above. Halloween is the time for rhymes and riddles and so I thought that this unique, original rhyme would really conjure up that spooky feeling and give my cards that little something different.
The first verse reads "Come, if you dare on Halloween Night, for food and drink and many a fright."
I clear embossed my witch onto the black cardstock and then stamped the first verse of the rhyme with versacolour which I quickly covered in white embossing powder - once this was heat set, I coloured it in classic Halloween colours with copic markers!! TIP- work quickly if you do this, as the markers seem to dissolve the embossed surface a tiny bit.
I loved this technique so much that I made another card (below) and coloured the witch all green - it is nearly impossible to get a smooth even coverage but I like the interest that the uneven texture provides and as long as the pen strokes were all going the same way I called it good.
These are two super fast clean and simple cards, just what's needed when I'm making lots of them! In another post I hope to show a more detailed card using the whole of the rhyme.
I like a fairly traditional approach to Halloween imagery but I wanted a little twist, so I designed my witch to work for her supper - she stands in period costume, with trusty broom in hand - forefinger ready to cast spells, command her familiar or point the way to a Halloween get-together.
I made a couple of little treat containers by recycling some Pringles potato crisp (chip) cylinders - scroll down to see the original packaging. TIP - Original flavour chips leave less odour than other flavours!!
For this project I utilised the cauldron image - this is my favourite image in the set - the cauldron and bubbling broth are separate stamps - so your cauldron can bubble away in green, red, purple or whatever your witch happens to be cooking!!
I thought it was an ideal image to use for packaging what might be cooking in my halloween kitchen - mostly candy it has to be said!!
The cauldron - and many of the other images fit nicely into a circular sentiment created for easy tag making - The pots I show here are the sort of thing I see myself making as party favours - I will need super fast tags to adorn little bundles of sweets that I hand out to Trick or Treaters - the superfast tags will be shown in another post.
The sentiment fits nicely inside a 2 inch punched circle, many folks will have a 2" circular punch already. The sentiment reads - 'For witches & wizards, ghosties & goblins & other little horrors' - I thought that would just about cover all of the different costumes that turn up at my door!
I used a steel grey and spring moss colour scheme - which allowed me to add an extra sentiment in black over the cauldron.
Here's what I started with.
Hope they tickle!

ReplyDeleteI just love it, we don't do Halloween in the Netherlands, but the kids in our neighbourhood go round on 11 November with handmade lanterns or lampions.
ReplyDeleteIt's called St. Maarten.
They have to sing a song and then recieve a gift, mostly candy or some fruit.
