If you're new here we've been previewing 5 new clear Photopolymer (yup, that's the good one (wink)) sets that are releasing here tomorrow at 7pm. You still have time to pop a comment on
THIS POST to be in with a chance of winning 3 stamp sets!!! We will draw a winner tomorrow, just before the release!!!
Today, I wanted to show folks some more details about the
Musical Backgrounds set releasing tomorrow. I have wanted this for a long time. I love the vintage look of sheet music but I kinda feel bad cutting it up!! lol!
Also I fancied being able to make coloured music, with these stamps I can stamp sheet music in any colour I like! AND at different scales (no pun intended!). The set contains the basics to allow you to create musical backgrounds in 4 sizes. There is also a piano keys stamp, see the star decoration below.
This set also contains two stamps that have music bars reversed out of a solid background. You can see how this works in the pic below, I took this pic before I added the bow. I stamped the reversed music onto cream card and then trimmed up either side with pinking shears to make an attractive little panel for across the front of my card. Please note the reversed out stamps are very solid, and as with all solid stamps, you will need to use the fun foam/mousemat trick to get your image nice and solid. Simply place a piece of thin fun foam or an upturned mousemat under your cardstock before stamping so that you get a good solid impression.
You can just about make out the background panel, stamped with a leaf swag stamp also included in Nutcracker Sweet.
I also used the teeny tiny music stamp to make a little patterned panel for the bottom half of the card, I used a notepaper punch to edge the panel.
Sponged wantonly...
My focal point is one of the tag designs from the
Nutcracker Sweet set, releasing tomorrow. This stamp contains elements that can be punched out with 2 inch and 2.5 inch punches so that you can stack up the image to create interesting combinations, here I stamped it on yellow card and cream card and layered the cream tag over the yellow tag.
I made a little star tag/ornament using the other tag design from
Nutcracker Sweet.
The tag was stamped twice in red ink (Versafine) I punched out the centre of one tag with a 2 inch punch, I punched the other out with a 2.5 inch tag, then I stacked them both onto a poinsettia shape, which was trimmed out with my Spellbinders Poinsettia die template.
I cut a larger poinsettia shape and after sponging (always Antique Linen...lol) I stamped it with the piano keys stamp, also in red, I loved the pattern this made.
I made the little star points buy laying two Spellbinders Labels 4 dies one inside the other to get a frame shape. I sponged these and stamped them with the mini music stamp to create a nice pattern. I then snipped these in half and adhered the ends to get a leaf shape. I pinched the top corners to make them more pointy. I adhered these to the back of the tag. The I adheres the piano pattern shape to the very back and punched a little hole for the string! Finished!
Hope it tickles!!
Oh my goodness! Well, this post was well worth the wait! The more I see of the Nutcracker Sweet set the more I want to have it. Love the purple ribbon but the pointsettia leaves on the tag were truly awe inspiring. Great release. Can't wait for tomorrow.

ReplyDeleteOooh, I can't wait! My Bank Manager has already ordered his valium!! Debs x
ReplyDeleteHi Claire!
ReplyDeleteWell, this was certainly worth the waiting, what wonderful creations you made here!! That music card is wonderful and love it that there's also a 'negative' stamp to make colors! Yes, it's great that there will be a music stamp from tomorrow! Tearing up all the music parts is a shame and love it that you can then use different colors, really great!
That star you've made is gorgeous! Wow, you just have to think up an idea like that, making those star points, looks amazing and love the colors ink you have used! And there's also a piano bar stamp, oh, can't wait till it's tomorrow morning! Ha ha! My previous order is (unfortunately) still on it's way to me, but I already feel something new coming up, ha ha!!
Hugs,
Wendy

claire,
ReplyDeleteI don't know how you do it: create lovely, fun stamp sets, and run a business and take care of a family!! I think my fav of the new sets might be the trees, but the submarine/rocket/car set and the nutcracker are really fun looking too! You and your design team have really outdone yourselves!!!
I just love what you did with the labels 4 creating that star... probably going to copy that at some point!! :)
ReplyDeleteClaire - I love the music set - I must have it :))) Don't tell my husband though (or the bank manager). See you guys at 7.00pm tomorrow night.

No qustion about it - the musical backgroud would be great for appreciation cards for those that serve our church with their musical abilities.
ReplyDeleteI can think of so many ways to use this stamp. What a great idea to make the flower.
