I just came back from a lovely trip along the Milky Way
Stopped off at the North Pole to spend a holiday
I called on dear old **********
To see what I could see
He took me to his workshop
And told his plans to me. So...
You better watch out, you better not cry
Better not pout, I'm telling you why...

All the time I was growing up, the soundtrack to Christmas in our house resonated with the tones of Bing Crosby, Dean Martin, Nat King Cole...It still doesn't feel like Christmas until I have those old crooners crooning in the background and just the tree lit.
Thoughts turn to childhood and the magic that it was...and is.
In our house we always knew who Santa worked for, and it wasn't Coca Cola. It's the same for my kids. I'm not at all sure that the local Minister would completely agree with me but it's always been obvious to me that Santa is one of His right-hand men. It's a birthday celebration after all, naturally, there are gifts to be given out, but in our house anyway, He saw that it was the little children who received.
Families all over the world have their own celebrations, or not, as they see fit. I have no ideas on the many varied customs all over the world, and I seek to offend no-one. Folks are folks to me. I can only share with you what we did.
And if you would like to share a little more, have a peep at the third line of the song excerpt above. You will notice the asterisks, there are exactly 10 of them and they are there in place of a name. Figure out what it is and write it down somewhere with no spaces between words...you will need it tomorrow!
ho! ho! ho!
ps scroll down for today's other post with samples if you missed them!!!
Fun, fun, fun!!! I, too, have treasured memories of these same old guys singing in our house as a child. My kids hear Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, and Vince Gill while we decorate for Christmas. Nothing like a little "Rockin' around the Christmas tree" to get my fanny moving while I hang up the ornaments. Wouldn't be Christmas without it!
ReplyDeleteI'll be stalking the store tomorrow waiting to put those 10 little letters into play!! Couldn't be more excited!!
He he :D FUN!!!
ReplyDeleteOh my Claire!! I'm so excited! I can't wait to see.
ReplyDeletehow fun! Did we grow up in the same house? LOL! I grew up listening to those same crooners and Chirstmas isn't quite Christmas until they are playing in the background.
ReplyDeleteChristmas is our favorite time of year...the celebrate Jesus!
Thanks for the fun song and sharing your memories with us...that's what it's all about.
Blessings to you!!!
Oh the ********** has to be a clue either to the secret stamp set or the password to get in! Tingles of excitement!
ReplyDeleteI love to listen to the Nutcracker ballet music!
Oh no, another day of waiting! I can't stand it! LOL
ReplyDeleteThat's another thing (or two) we have in common. My favorite record (for they were indeed "records" at the time) was Bing Crosby's...the one where he is wearing a Santa hat. I now have it on CD and play it every year, along with all the other crooners, and everything else you can imagine... both vocal and instrumental. My Christmas library of music is immense and I can't resist adding to it every year! I can't wait to start playing it the day after Thanksgiving each year. I figure I have to give some respect to the pilgrims!
Hugs... and don't you dare make us wait one more day beyond tomorrow!
Lisa
I am giddy with anticipation for the secret surprise set!
