There has been ice, there was a little snow, there have been sick kids, laundry, presents to be bought but my biggest challenge this month is...supermouse.
We get one very year - they come in I know not where and we usually catch them within a day - this critter has outwitted us for TWO WEEKS. It has eaten regularly thanks to my husband who has plied it with chocolate, cheese, raisins, even cooked sausages - there is nothing that hasn't been in the mouse traps.
I thought we should buy new traps but he swears by his three old wooden ones. I said we should bait the traps with seeds and things that mice usually eat, he said I was talking nonsense and continued frying the sausages. I don't think mice are meat eaters. I asked him if he was going to give it a name, he didn't answer. It's now a personal mission with him. I give up.
In the meantime - here's a couple of cards I made last week and didn't get time to photograph - the light is awful at the mo - sorry bout that. I am currently in love with spellbinders label dies as you can see - the combinations seem endless for making frames. I used the wee cuttle bug embossing folder for the wee house scene and ran that lovely new
vintage cream ink by PapertreyInk all over it. I also sponged it around the edges of my Ripe avocado frame. I think these look fairly self explanatory but if you need to know anything, drop me an email.
Hope they tickle.
These are stunning Claire, good luck with the supermouse!
ReplyDeleteI thought that wee house scene was a stamp and I was going to ask who it was from... but a folder, wow!! LOve the framed look!! Oh, and try Peanut Butter!! Sticky...they can't get it off without getting caught....trust me, I know!!! ;-)
ReplyDeleteYour mouse problem makes me laugh. My husband always says we should probably put paper or cardboard in traps because that's what mice seem to chew up the most. Good luck with catching the little guy. Thanks for the beautiful inspiration you provide in your blog. I've been following your blog for several months and really enjoy your designs. Take care and God bless you. Elizabeth S. in mid-Michigan, USA
ReplyDeleteWaaaa! I want some label dies, too. I wonder how big of a room (house) I would need if I had EVERYTHING I ever wanted to craft with? Love these, they are just so creative! Good luck with supermouse--sounds like a brainy one to me!

Love, love, love your cards. Was looking for a good way to use my nesties and cuttlebug folders and this is it! Just a tip for your mousecatching- try putting peanut butter on the underside of the little thingy where food usually goes(if you're using the wood traps), don't know what it's called!! Works for us every time.

Those are so pretty. I love that label die. I need to get that one. Good luck with supermouse. -Molly B
ReplyDeletejaw dropping!! gorgeous! oh my!! the way you used the CB folder in the top one is pure genius!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteOMGosh these are stunners! The framing is AWESOME and so are the colors! Great job! Best, Curt
ReplyDeleteYour cards are as adorable as SuperMouse is annoying, Claire! Grew up in a 100-yr.-old farmhouse, so I can totally relate to SuperMouse! Thankfully, we rarely see one in AZ, but after living here for 17 years we discovered our first scorpion on our family room floor this evening! I'm not a happy camper!!!
ReplyDeleteLove your cards!! Beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteI have a suggestion for your DH and the supermouse, we use peanutbutter cuz it sticks like glue, especially well to those old wooden traps and your little supermouse can't steal it without setting off the trap.
Waltzingmouse doesn't make a title :-)
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful. Love the way you sponged the images and mats.
We use glue traps, since they are safer even with the kids around.
gorgeous cards claire! Good luck with your little mousey friend.
ReplyDeletehad a flippin baby rat last week got in the airing cupboard - thought it was a mouse and the general consensus was to bait traps with chocolate or fried sausages (I begrudged cooking for a rodent and used ham). So perhaps it's an Irish thing - eventually put the one eyed cat in the cupboard and he came up with the goods in less than an hour... shall I box him up?!?
ReplyDeleteFab cards Claire, I totally sympathise over the ickle mouse problem, we had one in our bedroom a few years back, hubby decided an air rifle was the solution, and we had pellet holes all the way along the skirting borads arghhhhh don't you just love men.
ReplyDeleteI love the cards. They are so nice.
ReplyDeleteHope you catch the mouse critter real soon. Gosh, I thought he would love cheese!
