...cards with lemon juice

I know this is probably old hat to all of you but I was so excited when I remembered the lemon juice thing - you know how that if you write a secret note in lemon juice it's invisible till you hold it over heat!! - I learned this when I was a teenager - but I had forgot all about it untill the other week.

So I stamped my images in lemon juice and then roasted them with a heat gun - it's great fun watching the images appear and you can control how 'scorched' you want them to look!!

Hope they tickle.

Quick question - can anyone recommend a good place to buy a 1 3/4" circle punch - I really want one for the tag set I've ordered from PTI but they don't stock them at the mo and if they do It'll prob be after Christmas when it arrives here!! So what I'm looking for is prob an internet store that ships internationally - It also would help if someone could point me in the direction of a good source for Cosmo Cricket papers!! Those are so cute - I had one in my hand the other week but it was going to cost the equivalent of $34 for a 12" pack of 12 papers - there's bound to be better value out there somewhere!! Many thanks in advance for any help.

Stuff used
Cardstock - Watercolour paper and Kraft card
- LSS
Stamps - Snowflake serenade, Believe and Rustic snowflakes, all PTI.
Ink - Lemon Juice,
Gold Encore Ink
Tools - Heat gun, Scor Pal
Ribbon -
Gold sheer, LSS

  2. You are so clever! That card came out beautifully! BTW, why don't you check ebay UK. When I did a quick search for Cosmo Cricket I got quite a few results. I do a lot of my shopping on ebay and have been happy with the results. Good luck!

  5. Hi -- I've appreciated your blog and creations -- very much. I found your blog from posts at Splitcoast Stamper, I believe.
I inadvertently purchased a SECOND Marvy Clever Lever Super scallop circle -- it is the BLUE punch that people have said is the best size for the PTI Hoiday Tag stamp set. I got it with a coupon -- if you'd like to buy this one (the card backing says it is 2" tho' NOT 1 3/4 inches) I'd be happy to sell it for $10.00 plus shipping.

  8. First, I'll comment on the cards! GORGEOUS! I had never heard of the lemon juice trick before! Amazingly fun! Love these cards, Claire! They are so beautiful! Secondly I wanted to say thanks for the nice comment on my blog! I'm glad you found me because I have found you! I'm honored that you visited. I've spent a good 40 minutes going through your blog, and I have to say you are quite the talent! I LOVE the king boxes, your witch hat is amazing, the luminaries are wonderful, and I could go on and on! I particularly laughed at the "non-stamping visitor" post. Extremely funny! Love your blog! I'm adding it to my list on my blog so that more folks can come see you! I also love the fact that you live in Ireland, homeland of my ancestors! I'll be back, and I promise not to be so long on the comment next time! LOL Best, Curt O'Brien

  9. Hello,

What a unique effect with the lemon juice - I really like it. I am a big Stampin Up fan but I am not sure if they do a 3/4 circle punch? I have a few kits with Cosmo cricket and have go thtem from QVC. Hope it helps a bit.

  13. For Cosmo Cricket papers, I just bought some of new Chrismas line from www.scrapbook.com They sell by the sheet. Not sure what Scrapbook.com charges for shipping overseas. All That Scraps also sells Cosmo Cricket papers, by the sheet. www.allthatscraps.com

  17. Claire- get the Stampin Up 1 3/4 inch punch! The marvy sctaight edge blue is too big, but the Marvy blue scallop is good- just leaves a lot of the background before you get to the scallop, if you know what I mean! www.stampinup.com, then choose your country- you can find a demo there, too.

  19. This is so very clever! Thanks for sharing this lemon juice trick and reminding all of us that we don't have to always have the latest and greatest toys, but can still make some AWESOME cards with items we have at home! I never would have thought to use this "secret message" trick from my childhood for stamping. I am more and more impressed with your stamping with each post I read.

  20. Not old hat at all. I've never seen it done with stamps, but I do remember writing invisible handwriting secret notes as a kid. Thanks for the trip down memory lane & the great idea! :O)
