...say hello to Frame-It

Good morning and welcome to the third day of samples for the October release of new stamps from WMS. Tomorrow we will be releasing 5 new clear photopolymer stamp sets.

I've been loving the Design Team samples, have you? Here's who's previewing with me today:

Today my first cards are made using the new Frame-It set. It's a concept by Joan Bardee, a cracking idea, a simple lined frame stamp with an opening for various interchangeable sentiments. I loved it, I wanted it and now it's here!

In the set I featured a square frame, measuring 2 and3/4 inches by 2 and 3/4 inches, and also a rectangular frame measuring 2 and 1/4 by 4 inches. The set includes 18 sentiment stamps to cover year round occasions, and 3 cupcake stamps. There is a neat little leaf motif too!

The first two samples here are standard size cards, 4 and 1/4 by 5 and 1/2 inches, so that you can see the proportions of the frames, when you simply stamp them onto a card base.

Perfect for CAS cards these frames are a great way to add a little design finesse to a simpler card layout, or you can use the frames to accentuate more complex designs, as some of the DT showed us yesterday.

I simply stamped the frames and added a little cupcake to my first card, I LOVE cupcakes and the more I use this little cupcake the more I like it, I love the neat little swirl at the top! I accented my first cupcake with glossy accents and couldn't resist adding some stickles to my second card, I coloured the 'Icing' with copics and applied some white stickles, when they dry it looks like they soaked up some of the colour from the copics to provide custom sprinkles!

With my last card this morning, I wanted to show you some tips regarding the Holiday Labels No.14 set, also releasing tomorrow. I also had a chance to use the new Text-It set, I love the variety of fonts in this set, I used the old gothic English style as a background , and Anya, did you notice, I pinched your idea to use the Teeny Trees trunks to make snowflakes?!! lol

I'm a greedy soul when it comes to stamps, I always want to fit as many in as possible. If I'm designing stamps to suit dies, then the size of the stamps are largely dictated by the die size and so I have to try to be creative in the way that I design stamps, I want value for money, and to me that means lots of options in a stamp set.

A feature of my Spellbinder friendly dies are the multiple frame dies, where I have two or more frames laid out on the same stamp. Here's one example below:

This particular stamp is made up of two sides, one lighter weight design, and one heavier design, you can clearly see these in the pic above. You have the option to use the stamp the way it is supplied, the two designs co-ordinate and give an interesting frame.

Alternatively, you can ink up one side and stamp it twice, see below to get a frame with both sides the same. See the pics below, in this way you get two more frames from the one stamp.

Or you might decide to stamp one side only on your die cut, in the same way as I did on the label in the Christmas Greetings card above. using the stamp in this way gives a total of 4 'frames' from this one stamp.

Another of the frames in the Holiday Labels No 14 set is the one shown in the pic below: You can see that the outer frame only has been inked up to give the red image on the card.

The frames are easily inked up separately and the little inner frame may be inked independently of the larger frame to produce a smaller image.

There will be folks who decide to cut these apart (and yep, I'm thinkin' bout you Belinda! LOL! and you Joan!) and that is your choice, I design them like this so that I can get more designs in a set and also because it adds a certain amount of extra stability, and I'm happy to use them in this way, but I just know some folks prefer to separate them.

Hope it tickles!

OOh and yesterday's competition is still running, you can scroll down and leave a comment on yesterdays post to have a chance of winning!

Would it be possible to tell me how big the gap in the frames are to fit your sentiment in? I'm wondering what other sentiments I have may fit in that sweet gap!

  14. These sets are wonderful! I have tried drawing a frame and leaving room for a sentiment, and let me just say I have wasted a LOT of paper that way. The Holiday Labels is another set to add to my wish list.
