The Cast and Crew for Gina K Designs welcomes you to another fabulous blog hop celebrating the new Home for the Holidays StampTV Kit and a number of gorgeous stamp sets by our illustrator team! We hope to inspire you with some beautiful card projects as you hop along to each of the designer’s blogs! Today, we are featuring some of the stamp sets from the kit and also the new ‘Tis the Sea-Sun stamp set.
“It’s Beginning to Look a lot like Christmas” around Gina K
Designs! Gina K and the illustrator team have been extremely busy
preparing the most fun stamp sets with a variety of images and
sentiments to make so many incredible cards and holiday projects!
My card above used the trio of fir trees stamp from the kit, and a sentiment - you can see the whole kit right here below, it's jam packed with Christmas and winter themed goodness.
For my card I used inks from the Gina K line, Applemint, Ocean Mist, Turquoise Sea, Fresh Asparagus and Black. I used a smooshing technique to create a coloured BG for my trees which I had white embossed beforehand. I used some of the deep green card from the kit for my card base, I love how the Gina K inks and cardstocks match perfectly!
Next up I have some things I made with the 'Tis the Sea Sun stamp set.
I used the winter penguins from the set and paper pieced their hats and scarves to match the patterned paper that I used on my card base. This is such a fun technique. I also wanted my two outer penguins to be looking at the middle guy, so for the right hand penguin I stamped an extra penguin image and trimmed out the eyes, so I could stick them on, facing the opposite direction, over his original eyes.
I love the matching sentiment "It's penguining to look a lot like..." the "Christmas" is stamped on the inside of the card. The penguins are coloured with copics and set up on a dotty, spotty background that I created by inking an acrylic block with Ocean Mist ink and then spraying it with water - if you don't spray too much water, all of the ink separates into little droplets giving this sort of snowing effect, perfect for winter cards.
Here's the set:
I used patterned paper from the kit and the palm tree image for my next penguin card. A little sponging of ink above the waterline for a sunset and a distant palmed island set the scene for this winter guy.
If you were at the release party the other night you might have seen these tags, thought I'd share them here also, just in case you missed it. Again I used paper piecing, and this time I used the Christmas trees/pennant papers. I cut out some little pennant shapes and made them into trees to match my penguins scarves and hats. Fussy cutting motifs like this is a super simple way to get more from your patterned papers. I used a post it note cut in a curve to mask the snowy hills and sponged above them with Ocean mist ink to create the hills before adding the other elements.
That's it from me today, but I hope you are going to hop a little further and enjoy the gorgeous inspiration samples from the team. Don't forget to comment on each blog for your chance to win a $20 Gina K Designs gift certificate! To see who won, check the Big News Forum at StampTV a few
