...Shenanigans FREEBIE digi bundle

Evening folks, it's been quite a while since I did a freebie and I do love doing these for St Patrick's Day! So here's one for you - The link will take you to my Dropbox where you should be able to chose what elements you want to get, or get them all!

The bundle contains & digital stamps and 6 patterned papers and those should co-ordinate with your Gina K inks and cardstocks of the colours mentioned in the graphic.

The files are .png as I did a straw poll and that's what most folks were asking for, hopefully folks will be able to use these. There is a PDF printable file of the stamps that you can just print out right away!

I hope you enjoy these and if you use them, be sure to let me know! - Tag me on Pinterest or Instagram or Facebook - or leave a comment here!

Please note these items are for personal use only, for further details check out the Terms of Use in the bundle.

...A County Kerry postcard

So a few weeks ago the old blog was a bit vacant - I had run away to County Kerry for the fortnight (took the family of course...), it's my very favourite place. I took over 1500 pictures and my people are bored rigid looking at them, but I thought maybe you might like to see a few snaps, some of these days I'm going to buy a big fancy camera, one with all the bells and whistles.

This is Blackwater Pier, just outside Kenmare.

There's an awful lot of these in Kerry, think this one is just outside Glengarriff.

May have called into a few of these... has to be done.

Saw literally billions of these...

Found this shop in Cork City - my new favourite craft store, pity it's a 5 hour drive away...

look... and just fyi, they do mail order from their webstore right here
Besides the acres of craft they sell acres of books.

want to quilt again now...

Maybe one or two more spirit grocers were visited, like McCarthy's of Castletownbere

Lots of history, I love history. This is Ross Castle, Killarney.

and more of my pet photography project - Irish windows.

Hope you enjoyed the spin!

...a little hobby of mine

I don't really have much time for 'actual' real life hobbies, but one thing I have done ever since my very fist internet connection (over 15 years ago) is to surf property websites.

I'm quite specific, I only ever surf Irish property websites like Daft.ie or Propertynews.com . It's a little interest of mine that is easy to fit in to the odd 5-10 minutes when I'm waiting in the card at the school or at an appointment. I love houses. I have always loved wee houses ever since I can remember my mother and I drawing them - we always drew houses with gables and dormer windows when I was small.

I sometimes daydream about having a little cottage by the sea somewhere, it's just a little escapism, but a few years back I had been surfing quite regularly and I could have estimated the price of most properties fairly accurately. - I've lost my edge a little recently, been a tad busy, but I just wanted to share a few of the little gems I found while trawling some sites recently.

Now and again you find the most delicious little out of the way properties - I am hoping that since these are all for sale that the good folks who are selling them won't mind me showing you - I mean, these are all on the relevant internet property sites, I know it's a little voyeuristic, but I'm thinking it's ok... it's not like we are sneaking inside... lol

http://www.daft.ie/sales/trebeg-propogue-tallow-waterford/1073881/

Isn't this absolutely charming?

http://www.daft.ie/sales/derryinver-letterfrack-galway/1066233/

Such a view - who would not love this?

http://www.daft.ie/sales/farragh-house-mullingar-westmeath/1067088/

Now and again you find a stunning period property.

I love looking at all sorts of houses, sometimes the smallest and most basic are the most charming. I've always been interested in houses and not just for interiors, it's more about location for me. At the moment I live somewhere that's best described as 'handy' but wouldn't it be lovely to live somewhere pretty? Do you live in a pretty area? - I'd love to hear about it!

...postcard from the edge of Europe

Would you like to see where I was on Easter Sunday? Just click the video. We went up to look at Slieve League cliffs in Donegal. Part of the beauty of Ireland is that nothing is more than a couple of hours drive from where I live - Donegal is particularly handy and there is nothing like standing at the edge of Europe to put things into perspective.

There are changes happening at Waltzingmouse Stamps and it has been a little overwhelming at times this year so far - My schedule for the year was vaporized by the VAT EU thing and we have had to alter the course of our business, once again. It is a great source of annoyance to me that we have been thrown of course from our monthly releases, but it has been unavoidable.

The good news is that we are embarking on an adventure that many, many folks have requested all through the 6 years we have been around so far - I'm very excited by what is coming next and I hope to make an announcement on that very soon, looking forward to spilling the beans, so to speak!

... January Moon and New EU laws regarding digitals

Evening Folks! This pic is of the first full moon of the new year, 2015. The first full moon of the new year, traditionally called the Wolf Moon and was associated with the hungry winter months still to come and takes it's name from the howls of packs of hungry wolves stalking the edges of villages.... One reason to be glad I live in Ireland/UK.... not many wolves here... unless of course you consider the tax man...

The EU have just introduced a new law governing the collection of VAT tax from folks who sell digital items via the internet...that would be me, and possibly you, if you sell even so much as one knitting pattern/.svg cutting file/digital scrapbook files to anyone living in the EU. And nope, it does not matter where YOU live, if you reside on planet earth and are selling digital downloads to anyone in EU, you need to know about this. Google EU VAT and you will be sure to come across the info.

In their wisdom, the EU have decided that VAT must now be paid to the country that the purchaser resides in, rather than in the country where the item is being sold, as was the case previously. There are about a million reasons why I believe this is not a good idea, but the one most important to you and me is this - Instead of sending in a couple of tax returns each year to HMRC (the tax folks in UK), If I want to continue selling Digital downloads, I am now expected to complete and submit 4 VAT returns per year to EACH of the 28 odd EU countries, over a possible 75 levels of VAT.

Now, WMS is a small company, a tiny company in fact. I made the decision to stay small so that I could manage it while I raise my children. I do everything myself, I design the stamps, I design and produce the packaging, I handle orders and customer queries, I handle all the site graphics, I manage all of the stock. I have a US shipper who manages the US orders, but I handle the rest of the world. I do this partly because I wanted to be able to control my output, but also because I wanted to keep costs down as much as possible so that I could someday make a living from this and contribute to my family financially. Thing is, I buy only the best USA polymer, I use only the best USA manufacturers and I have all those goodies shipped all the way over here from USA, so my costs are already high compared to large corporations that can purchase in bulk at better prices from far overseas.

Now the EU and government have decided that I, and thousands of small companies like me, should take time out to submit over 100 tax returns per year...ok...sure...I don't actually need to sleep anyway....

You will see, very soon, that thousands of small digitally based companies will have to close. Thousands of small mom and pop independents, just like me, will not be able to afford the accountancy costs. Folks like me who were hoping to expand their digital businesses will have to shut up shop, or supply through third party sites such as amazon, where prices will no doubt rise to cover the extra costs.

Soon, when you go looking for cutting files and knitting patterns, scrapbook files and crochet patterns etc, you are not going to have the same wealth of choice that you did before - especially if you live in EU. I know of many, many stores who are currently, as we speak, having their sites reconfigured to block all EU customers. I now of many, many folks raising their prices to try to help and offset the costs of all the extra admin and accountancy.

Well I'm not quitting. I am working a way around this. I have been working on this all over Christmas and New Year, I spent the entire night of New Year's eve and into the next day taking all the saleable digitals down off my website so that I would not be breaking any laws when they came into force on the 1st January.

I am working on new settings for digitals at the store and once I have fixed this I will be relaunching all of our cutting files which match stamps as FREEBIES. All templates and other files will be available in the same formats as before, but instead of an instant download, we will now be required to email them to our customers. This will keep us compliant in 2015.

The really horrendous information is that they intend to apply this new VAT law to all physical goods from 1 January 2016. So anyone, anywhere, who is selling stamps, inkpads, farmers wellies, sausages...you name it, will have to register and pay taxes in the EU countries that they are selling to.

At this time I have an outline plan of how we are going to handle this nightmare when it comes, but I will be evaluating other ideas and trying to get the best possible solution into place before the deadline.

I just wanted to let you know what's going on and why WMS has not yet begun our 2015 release program. Like many companies we only heard about this in the couple of weeks leading up to Christmas. In my opinion HMRC did not communicate this new law in either a timely or effective manner and many folks were caught out and either closed their stores completely before January 1st, or have already blocked EU buyers. Many Etsy stores are still on Vacation mode while this is being grappled with.

I want to thank you all for patiently waiting for us to manage this curve ball and get back into our scheduled routine.

Sale - advance notice

Our next release will be in February, but before that we will be having a sale at the store. I am going to clear out some inventory so that when I come to rejig the store settings to cope with this new law, I won't have so many products to wade through. Thank you for your patience.

Good evening all, I have a few snaps for you -(if you click on them, they should get bigger) it's been a while since we had some pics of Ireland here on the blog, and that's mostly cos it's been a while since I've been traveling, but we did manage to scoot down to Connemara for a few days last month. I thought you might like to see these while I'm footering in the background with the blog - hoping to refresh it a little, so bear with me, things might be out of whack for a day or two!

If I was a real photographer, I'd p'shop out those telegraph wires... I would love a good camera, but for my level of knowledge, the point and shoot does ok. I can wholeheartedly recommend the boat trip - the children go free and the onboard catering is yummy! Hot chocolate and apple pie while cruising in Ireland, doesn't get any better.

...Time you enjoy - and chance to win a set!

Spotted this in Joyce's craft shop in Recess, Connemara, a couple of weeks ago - I love the sentiment. Joyce's is full of beautiful knitwear and woven goods, but the Brennans exited with three wooden swords... my days of leisurely browsing gift shops is long gone, but I'm happy to play the wounded Norman so it's grand...

Anyhow, this is my cover note for why I have no card on the blog today - been pinning down a future release today, and its beginning to look like Waltzingmouse Stamps may be able to begin using a static release day - wouldn't that be a good idea? imagine if we were able to release on the same date every month - we'd all know where we were then!! I'm getting a little excited!

Would love to know what you'd think of that so if you care to comment I will enter your 'hat' in a draw for a free stamp set! I'll draw a winner on Wed night! midnight my time, you have until then!

...a wee spin

If you ever happen to find yourself in Dalkey of an evening, you could do worse than pop in here - it's a bar/restaurant called 'The Club'.

Over Easter we had taken a little spin down to Dalkey, which is a little coastal village just outside Dublin and this was a great find - the food was good, and there was decent level of atmosphere. I did manage to take a couple of quick snaps before the place filled up and you can see they have a lovely panoramic painting of what looks like a sort of Italian riviera scene, all around the main bar area. Not sure if it's a real place or a fictional spot, but it was nicely done.

Dalkey abounds in oversized college lads. At first it can leave you feeling a little hobbitish, but it is actually a very good thing - we find them particularly handy for push starting the car. Three or four of these young oaks can coerce an unresponsive Renault Scenic into and out of a three point turn in under 2 minutes, we know this because we timed it. Once they have it facing the right way,  they barely have to break into a jog before the motor is running but what really endears them to one is the tremendous ancillary support you receive in the form of good humoured vocal encouragements as you exit the scene, struggling to keep pace while inserting 3 children, bodily, into a moving vehicle. "Ah get yer rump in there, ye gerrrl ye!"...might be a while before I show my face, or indeed my behind in Dalkey again...

...release roundup!

The last of the release orders has shipped, I have very nearly finished my shipping notes and tomorrow I will be catching up with emails and notes that folks have set - I was delighted to see how folks liked the new dies, especially the folding tags, they stormed out and we hope to re-stock those very soon along with some of the other items that sold out.

If you are waiting on a reply to an email or other query, please doe bear with us, it has been a hectic release and we will send you a reply! thank you for your patience.

I leave you with a pic of the very beautiful Powerscourt waterfall, which we happily stumbled over on a day trip over Easter, I had no idea this was here, hidden in the Wicklow hills and I am itching to pop down again for a longer visit to that region, I was especially charmed by the village of Enniskerry. Chat to you soon!

...busy, busy!

Good evening - I'm busy stuffing envelopes and so I had no crafty time today, all I have for offer this evening is a pic of a pretty mill house we spotted up on the North Coast one day last year. Love the pretty Georgian windows. It's been a while since I put up any pics of Ireland and it has also been a while since we took any little trips in Ireland and now that the days are feeling a bit fresher it's putting me in the mood to 'go for a spin'.

If you are new to us you can scroll down to see the goodies we just released. We were stampeded at the store and have sold out of a few of the items, but everything that can be shipped, has shipped! Shipping notes are still going out and if you don't have a shipping note by tomorrow night it may be that one or more items that you ordered was out of stock at the time and is keeping your order back a little - your shipping note will tell you. if you have any queries, don't hesitate to drop us a line! Chat soon!

...Moday Evening mooch...

So I'm up to my neck in admin after the release on Friday and I had no Monday morning make for you...so how about a Monday evening mooch around one of my favourite places to shop and browse in Belfast - Sawyers. It's been around since the 1890's - you can see the original shopfront below - this I pinched from their site, which you can visit here. I hope they don't mind...don't think  they will...lol

It's an absolute gem of a place and I don't think there is anywhere else like it in the North here...full to the brim with all sorts of interesting goodies - I hadn't been in Sawyers in a little while and I called in last week for some cheese, I could spend hours browsing the goodies here, they even have some goodies from USA - Reese's peanot cups etc, that sort of thing. You could easily spend an hour or two in here just looking!

While I was there I was eyeing up the Easter goodies and I hope to have a little neat idea for you tomorrow - something simple and easy to make.  Gotta pop off and send out more shipping notes, chat to you tomorrow hopefully

...a few snaps

Evening folks...it's been a while since I shared some snaps of Ireland...and I was looking
through some pics this eve and thought I might pop these up....

Also - do you see what i did there? I momentarily distracted you from the fact that I have not yet posted the free template from the waltz...it's coming... I was making it up yesterday but it started to snow and since it's been two years since we had snow - we all went out to play...

These images are from last summer and are, from the top:
Cinn Aird Beach near Dingle
Gallarus Oratory, 4 pics
A mountain lake along the Conor Pass
A road on the way to Brandon Bay

wish I was there right about now....

back soon with the template! :)

...more snaps

Evening all - I have a couple more holiday snaps for you, the first is the view down towards Brandon Bay from the Conor Pass above Dingle, a spectacular vista that the pic just does not convey!

A little mossy wall from along the way. How gloriously green is this moss?

And another epic site on the Dingle Peninsula, Gallarus Oratory, an ancient church. Over a thousand years old and virtually intact. Built with dry stone. I have to say, I was itching to see this, but it was a little eerie inside, or maybe that's the claustraphobia talking....

Inside the oratory.

Hope to be back later for the Blog Party? Will I put the kettle on for you?

...a wee spin

So since we had the week off, we decided to pack up the car and make a run for it! This is where we ended up. The very southwest corner of Ireland.

Dingle, County Kerry. Haven't been down this way in years and it was every bit as stunning as I remembered, just one thing to note for future reference, book ahead. Book far ahead. Since we hadn't really planned a vacation this year, we were pretty much ready to take what was left accommodation wise, but I saw oodles of lovely places to stay, if I'd booked earlier. We got ourselves a simple house for the week and it was grand, we were out and about every day anyhow, so it was fine, but like everywhere else on the planet, things are expensive this weather and a little forward planning would have been wise...lol...

Got some nice pics which I hope to share, if you don't mind...this one above is the view towards Dingle from along the coast. Below is a pic of the first thing that comes to my mind every time I think of County Kerry - the hedges, miles and miles of lovely fuschia hedges, my favourite hedge flower. I have a bank of fuschia at the back of my house, it's my one wee tenuous link to my favourite places in Ireland. As I'm doing the dishes, I'm looking at the hedge and wishing I was in Kerry....

Below is one of the many, many ancient sites on the Dingle peninsula, Kilmalkedar Church. Associated with St Brendan, it's a beautiful quiet spot, with Ogham stones, an ancient sundial and an alphabet stone. I'd love to spend a few months just traipsing around Ireland, taking snaps of ancient places.

I have a few more snaps if you are interested...it'll keep us going until the ink dries on my latest card anyhow....

hope it tickles!

...a few snaps

Good morning! Hope you had a great weekend! We took yesterday off after a wildly busy week and just relaxed! Here are a few snaps of our travels for your viewing pleasure, and also to distract you from the fact that I haven't made anything in what seems like ages!!!!

I need to get my skates on tho' as we will be having our June SOAP event this week starting Wednesday!!! The girls and I will be revisiting the sets released in May so that you will have even more inspiration and some neat new examples now that some of you guys actually have the stamps to hand - I do love this idea and I sure hope you guys will find it useful!

So, how is the two month thing working for you? I'm finding it real tough not to blab bout what is coming in July, so far we have 8 new sets confirmed and there are more pending!!!! I'm finding that I'm just as busy as ever, even though I have a wonderful friend who is helping me at present! I don't know if it's just because we're only just begun with the two month thing, or if things are just getting busier all round, but it sure feels like it's time for WMS to expand a little more!!!

Anyhow, knowing me, and the work I have to do today, and the fact that I am bursting at the seams to show you guys a little of what I've been getting ready for July, I may just post a little sneak tomorrow on the old blog.... I think we could have a little competition maybe.... I'll see what I can rustle up!!!

Anyhow, in the meantime, here's the scoop on the pics, they were all taken at locations along the North Antrim Coast:

Top is the Antrim Coast - the beach at Waterfoot.

Just below is a dinky little estate agent sign I spotted in Cushendall - how cute is this?? Click on the pics to make them bigger!

The gateway (well, one of them) into Glenarm Castle - how gorgeous are those hinges - you know they're gonna turn up in a stamp set someday...

One of the entrances to Glenarm Castle - we didn't go in on this occasion,  we're saving that for another day!

Along the wall of Glenarm Castle

Ok, I'm off to make stuff! See y'all later!
