...saturday morning sketch! WMSC3
I'm not going to lie, even though I drew it, I found last weeks sketch a real challenge, I had a card in my head to suit it when I drew it but for some reason I didn't manage to make it happen.
This weeks sketch I found much more friendly! Hope you do to! To see what I'm babbling about pop over to our brand new Sketch challenge blog here. Lisa has all the deets.
I used the sketch to make a card for my littlest girl's teacher who will soon be getting married, this lady is an absolute sweetheart, and she's so pretty I'm sure she will look like a dream on the big day!
I used a sentiment from Fancy Phrases to wish her 'happy foreverness' with her DH to be. I went mad with my Victorian velvet distress ink - I just got the craft mat to use with them DOH! now I get it! the card front is actually cream, it's just sponged to within an inch of its life! lol!
I also took the opportunity to sneak in two brand new stamps from an upcoming set for July!!! Can you spot them?? LOL. I can't help it there is so much to show you for the July release that I figured I could be forgiven slipping a few 'peeks' out early!
I'm going out tomorrow to try to pick up a few embellishments, I felt this card was crying out for a lovely crystal style hat pin, which of course I didn't have!
So just for fun, tell me! what is your favourite type of embellishment? answer with a comment on this blog post and a random winner will receive a little 'goodie' from the July release up front!! I'll draw a random winner on Sunday night!! LOL!
Hope it tickles!
I love this week's sketch. I prefer simpler...too many layers seem daunting. My favourite embellies are glitter and rhinestones/gems. Bring on the bling. LOL.
ReplyDeleteLovely card Claire!! Love that awesome bow... it's perfect!! I'd say my favorite embellishment is buttons!!! I use them a lot!!! and almost everywhere (there is always place for a cute button!!!lol)
ReplyDeleteMorning Claire....just had to leave a comment on your card, one word just sums this up "STUNNING!"...
ReplyDeleteThe crystal hatpin will finish it off perfectly...not that it's really lacking anything now!
My favourite embelli is ribbon.
Have a lovely weekend
Take care
San x
P.S...another fabby sketch!
Such a beautiful card! Exquisite! My favourite type of embellishments are little silver rhinestones. I love them to pieces
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful Claire, love the Victorian wedding feel to this. My favourite embellishment has to be rhinestones, I nearly always use them on my cards, I just love the bling! Pauline xx
ReplyDeleteI love your card Claire. The colours are so pretty and delicate. Gorgeous ribbon too. Ribbon would have to be my favourite embellishment.
ReplyDeleteI love your card is so very beautiful!!
ReplyDeletegreat skets again this week i'm working on it right now.
Claire this is a gorgeous, gorgeous card! I hope to get to play this week and take part in the challenge. I think ribbon would have to be on the top of my list of embellishments. I use glitter on everything so I guess that is a staple just like ink. LOL I hope that elegant border stamp is a sneak peek. Can't wait to see what you have up your sleeve.
ReplyDelete((GASP)) this card is GORGEOUS, Claire! I love me some gingham ribbon for embellishing...but I have to say when I get out my Liquid Pearls and add them to a background stamp, I always get giddy with excitement!
ReplyDeleteStunning card - love the distressing, it's becoming a bit of a favourite of mine at the moment.
ReplyDeleteI thought my favourite embellishment was rhinestones/bling, but when I really think about it, most of my cards end up with ribbon somewhere - so I think it must be ribbon.
I love buttons and a bit of string.
ReplyDeleteLovely card. I'm off to check out the blog but first I'm going to watch our boys play soccer (The Dutch against Japan).
Eveline.
WOW Claire - these colour combo is so gorgeous for a wedding - and the new stamps behind *yummy* - your ribbon makes the card sooo elegant, I am sure the teacher will be very happy and treasure it!
ReplyDeleteEmbellishment -- mmh let's see, guess I am a button freak LOL ... have fun shopping for your embellis - one of the best things beside stamping LOL
Claire - that is absolutely gorgeous -- love it!! And I was wondering what set those other images were from...now I know ;). Fantastic :). My favorite embellishment??? Pretty much anything that sparkles...but ribbon always dresses things up too...Hoping to play along this week!
ReplyDeleteLovely card...simply gorgeous. Guess ribbon is at the top of my embellishments but love pearls too.
ReplyDeleteThis card is just perfect for a bride Claire! that ribbon with the lace piece is stunning - love the way you stamped that bg just slightly under it - your stitching and wonderful sponging - a true beauty!
ReplyDeleteFor embellies - lately I'm loving all the new ways to make flowers for our cards - with punched pieces, rolled ribbon, and buttons!
This weeks sketch challenge is going to be a lot of fun! That delicate border stamp is simply divine! I am getting so excited for the July release. I do most of my creating for my sons and hubby, so I can't get too frilly. With that said, my favorite embellishments are twine and buttons. I use them a lot!
ReplyDeleteI cannot say that I have ONE favorite embellishment!! When I first started it was ribbon for sure, now I love me some buttons and rhinestones too!!
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Claire:
ReplyDeleteAnother stunning card! BEAUTIFUL
I would have to say my favorite embellishment is ribbon. I like wide and unique style ribbons & hat pins together. It just makes a card pop!
Beautiful Claire! That has got to be the most gorgeous ribbon I have even seen - it is so soft and satiny - fabulous colours Claire!
ReplyDeleteThis card is so gorgeous! I love the colors and all the wonderful textures; very romantic!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite embellishment is probably rhinestones. They are sparkly, fun, and the postman doesn't charge me extra to mail cards with those on them!
What a beautiful and elegant card!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite embellishment is ribbon. It´s so versatile and I love ribbon on nearly every card!
Hugs
Edith
Just gorgeous Claire! My favorite embellishment? Well that's probably ribbon. But lately I've been addicted to paper flowers- the ornate roses and more realistic ones. I can't seem to get enough of them!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the July releases!
OH my gosh, this is the most beautiful card ever! The sponging is perfect to pop out the embellies on this card...I need to find some of the distress ink color now! Ribbon, is the go to embellie for me, but I love bling too! Wow GORGEOUS card, thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeletehi Claire -
ReplyDeletewhat a lovely card. i'm sure the future Mrs. will love it. i don't have a favorite embellishment as of right now (still trying to figure the whole paper craft thing out ;) but i do notice myself grabbing for rhinestones (esp Taylored Expression's Tiny Twinkles), twine/hemp, or my sewing machine for stitches.
My favorite thing to see on a card is the gorgeous ribbon ppl have used. For me to put on a card the embellishment of choice would be home made flowers with leaves. Gotta have the leaves.
ReplyDeleteYour card is gorgeous just like it is, but if you DID add any thing it would be still be a gorgeous card!
Drooool !! ... I would just adore to receive this absolutely gorgeous card ... hope you found the perfect extra embellishment you were shopping for ... although it's simply fabulous already!
ReplyDeleteWhat a really difficult question?!!! I've been struggling and struggling with it, and still don't have an answer ... the list is just too long ... give up!
Your card is simply luscious; LOVE that sentiment! My favorite embellishment right now is wrinkle ribbon (bias tape) as it's just sooo pretty and dainty!
ReplyDeleteSimply stunning!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite embellishment is rhinestones and pearls. Though I use liquid pearls and stickles more often to keep the card flat for mailing.
This is a simply sumptious card Claire....and you have helped me no end....I have 4 cards to do for the same wedding and I've two finished and trying to conjur up two more different ones.....your card is now being cased and I'm so grateful for the idea....it is just beautiful...and my style too.
ReplyDeleteSorry I don't have time to participate in anything at the minute. Really pushed for time.
What a beautiful card, Claire! I love it and know that she will, too!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card Claire! I would have to say that my favorite type of embellishment is buttons. I just wish they were more postal friendly.
ReplyDeleteClaire, this is just GORGEOUS! What a perfect wedding card--I'm sure she will love it! And what scrumptious ribbon--wow! My favorite embellishments are usually buttons and I love pearls.
ReplyDeleteIsn't that pretty! But my fav embellishment is hairy string! Or rustic twine if you want to be posh. Can't stop using it on everything since I bought a big ball of it on ebay. I've always wanted to use hat pins and pretty dressmaking pins on my cards but always thing they must be dangerous - especially for the postman.
ReplyDeleteHowever I love your card Claire - its gorgeous and perfect for a special friend.
Right now my favorite embellishment is ribbon, ribbon, and more ribbon! Gorgeous card, Claire. And I love that sentiment -- how perfect!
ReplyDeleteOh wow what a gorgeous card I just love it!! I'm a newbie to WMS so I had to have a serious look through the stamp sets to see what was new?
ReplyDeleteHow can you chose a favorite embellishment? I love them all, although the sparkly ones might just tip the scales? ... but then there's ribbon, ribbon HAS to appear on every card doesn't it?
My first WMS purchase this week - can't wait :O)
Dawn
wonderful!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh, my but you do do pretty well! This card is gorgeous (I love that V.Velvet, too) and I love the softness with the sponging. You've really inspired me to do more of this (I rarely did before) and I am loving the outcome - everytime!
ReplyDeleteI hope to play this sketch (this entire week went all wrong) and I love these new peeks-yay,more lace!
As for fave embellies, that's easy for me - j'adore les Swarovskis! I swoon when I see them and try to use them whenever possible.
Wow...gorgeous card!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite embellishment has to be ribbon (what you used on this card is amazing) and crystals.
Love them.
I can see I am going to love the July release! Gorgeous card. My all time fave embellishment: Swarovski crystals, the half-back, heat set kind. They have a special glitter to them.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful !! As uual !
