...Happy Birthday to me!!! LOL!
And so my little company turns One! LOL, well technically it's on the 21st May but I think we're close enough to break out the cake!!
And this cake is made using a template that will be available in the store later today, 7.00pm my time when the release opens! The template makes up one slice, and you just make up 8 slices to get a cake!! Woohoo, what fun to decorate!
I decided on 8 slices because I have 8 fabulous DT ladies who are just the bees knees, the cat's whiskers, the cream of the crop! I could not have hoped for better support or nicer ladies when I started out. Thank you Anya, Belinda, Bonnie, Jennifer, Julia, Laurie, Lisa and Lynn, my friends. OOh, and your slice of cake will be on it's way to you after the weekend!! with something yummy tucked inside! at least it won't go off!! LOL.
I took white ric-rac and drew a really wobbly line with a red copic right along it to make my cream and jam 'filling'!
To get pink icing on top of my cake, I just printed the lid templates onto pink cardstock and then stamped a fancy pattern on using stamps from the Vintage Labels no. 10 set, also releasing later today. It couldn't be easier. The slices go together in a cinch the hard bit is deciding how to decorate them!! Even easier if you can use the SVG files!
What I like most about this particular template is that you get a proper round cake at the end, no squared off slices here!! lol.
The template includes Liners for your cake slice box, I stamped some florals from Big Blooms - Chrysanthemums inside simply because I haven't even got to use that set yet, there's been so much to do this week!
I made the candle from a piece of patterned paper 6 inches square, I simply rolled it around a pencil and securely taped it, then I removed the pencil. I rolled a smaller piece of cream card even tighter and inserted it into the patterned paper tube, leaving a little bit sticking out of the top. I poked a tuft of gold organza ribbon in the top for a flame. The candle just stands in the centre between the slices.
And really, what's cake without a nice cup of Tea to wash it down?
Cuppa anyone? I wanted a round cup to go with my round cake, LOL! And so i found a way to do it! How cute would this be filled with bon bons for Mother's Day?? 'Course I've been just a little busy this week and completely forgot to purchase some sweeties to put in my cup, but a crafting buddy might actually prefer buttons anyway!
Again a three part template, cup, liner saucer. It does go together so easily, the only remotely tricky bit is cutting around the curved handle but I think the effort is worth it.
I used Asian Gardens branch and small flower to decorate my tea cup, both were gold embossed. I sponged with Antique Linen distress ink and absolutely HAD to gild the rims. I just dipped the rims in versamark and then in the gold embossing powder before using the heat gun. The Liner was sponged in Victorian Velvet distress ink.
So hope these tickle!!
Be back at 7pm , my time, for the BIG release!!!

ReplyDeleteI wanted to let you know that I came across the same picture of your cake being used by someone named Pinkparty at facebook. This is the link to the post using you photo:
