Not sure about these - I was trying to make a couple of 'cheap' cards for my brother - he wanted some to sell in his workplace, but his pals don't want fancy expensive cards so I tried to use up stuff I had lying around. I had the gorgeous christmas bird stamps from Inkadinkado and I thought they might look good, but once I had stamped them i really felt unsure about how to mount them - I went for 'plain and decent' as my Da used to call it. One thing I do like about the second card is the vertical pinstripe scoring - I've seen Jak do this many times, I love it. I greatly admire Jak's work - she is the Queen of flowers - I visit her blog almost daily and was so sorry to hear about her Dad's passing last week.
The cards are ok but one thing I learned was that I felt a little tied to a traditional feel with these stamps - I'm gonna revisit it in a day or two with a more modern approach - I don't like to be beaten!! Lol. Don't get me wrong - I love traditional - I just like to feel that when I'm starting a card that I'm the one setting the style and not the stamp! Lol - talk about control freak...another thing I like to do is have that card planned exactly before I make it - I usually have it all mapped out in my head - didn't do that here...
Think that's why I love PTI so much - when I'm using PTI stamps i don't feel tied to any particular approach - there seem to be endless possibilities for all sorts of styles with PTI - tomorrow I'm gonna break open the holiday tag set - can't wait!! Lol - I have purchased some punches especially, should be fun!

I think you did a wonderful job on these! I personally have shyed away from this particular stamp because I didn't think I could do anything with it, but you certainly did a bang up job! These are beautiful! Best, Curt
ReplyDeleteOh I like these claire! One cool thing you can do with this stamp is go back in and color on the inked part with pencils to add some depth. I think I have a sample of that on my blog. If I find it I will link you up.

They're beautiful, Claire! You won't know until he tries to sell them, but because they're likely buying for their Mom, GF, sister, daughter or wife, they'll probably love them!

Both cards are fabulous! but I do know what you mean sometimes it hard to do simple when you know you can do so much more to it...but then it might be to girly...hahahha...I love that image I have too Beautiful :)
