...Spread a little happiness Freebie cut files

ED  -Folks, this comes as a zip file, it is compressed and so you need to save it to your desktop first. Only once it has been saved can you right click (PC) or double click (Mac) to open it. If you try to open it first it won't work. hope that helps.

Good morning! It's Monday and I'm fine with that because it's not a school day!!

I have a little card for you this morning, I was playing with some new ink yesterday, I got me some more of my fave Distress inks, Frayed Burlap was one of them! I paired it with some pumpkin spice SU ink for this card. I cut out the jar shape from a piece of kraft card and then I used the negative as a frame for my jam jar which I had stamped on cream card stock.

I have some cut files for the jar Fillers Jam Packed set and you can get them here.

There are files for the Jar as a candy Jar, as a jar with screwtop lid, as a jar with fabric lid, and for the label and the tiny tag.

I have a few hints on how to use them here.

I cut myself out a jar with fabric lid shape - and I stamped on the fabric lid first - above. If you set the cut-out shape on a dark background it is much easier to stamp on. Next thing was to stamp the fabric lid again onto a post-it note and trim it out. This is your mask, and It's worth making a fairly good one, cut out accurately, you can keep it in with your stamps for further use, you can get quite a lot of mileage out of it and I rarely have to make another.

Below you can see the mask in place and how I stamped the jar base over it. I purchased some of those thin acrylic blocks - Tim holtz make them I believe, and I thought they were great for lining up stamps, but I did worry that they might snap if I had to put a lot of pressure on, time will  tell and I'll let you know!

It was easy to line up the 'jam' stamp with the thin blocks, I stamped it before I took off the mask above. One full jar of jam, ready for use!

Hope it tickles!

...Freebie - Strawberry Suite Templates and cut files

ED  -Folks, this comes as a zip file, it is compressed and so you need to save it to your desktop first. Only once it has been saved can you right click (PC) or double click (Mac) to open it. If you try to open it first it won't work. hope that helps.

And here it is - the Freebie templates are ready - you may download the package directly from the store by clicking on the pic above to go to the download page!

A Jumbo size Freebie! Included in the download are:

A downloadable PDF template and instruction booklet, packed with traditional style printable templates and guidance on how to assemble them.

SVG and DXF cutting files for all projects.

Templates and Instructions are for a Large punnet, two versions of a small punnet, and two sizes of strawberry! Enjoy!

...Strawberries anyone?

So, how's summer treating you? This is the project I was rushing to get ready for the Blog Party we had earlier, on the 17th to be exact...lol, I'm only 5 days late....

I have been drawing up this little template in between 'real work' for a while and I was hoping to have it finished for the blog party, but you know how life kinda expands to fill all your available time!

Anywhoo it's very nearly ready...just a few finishing touches and I'll be making it available here when I have crossed all the t's and dotted all the i's...

It is fiendishly simple to throw together, even I was able to make the punnet (it's what we call strawberry baskets over here) and the strawberries, all in under an hour - I used my Craft Robo - have not quite been able to get the Silhouette out of the box....just yet...seriously - all you folks whose houses are immaculate and who make home cooked dinners every day, how DO you do it?

I stamped my punnet components with stamps from the Heirloom Patterns set by Anya, I love that wee ticking stripe backgrounder stamp, so subtle. I added a tag made from a label from the Jar Fillers Jam Packed set, and I  mutilated altered a large brad, two large brads, by sticking disks of paper over the lovely images. I had pre-stamped the weeny strawberry and leaves from the Jam Packed set on to the disks first.

I made up some small strawberries to go in my punnet, these are criminally fast to make if you have an electronic cutter. I topped mine with green ribbon, but there is a lovely strawberry leaf top included in the template.

Best thing about this template? It's a freebie!!! scroll up to the post after this one!

Hope it tickles!

July 2012 Waltzingmouse Stamps Blog Party Highlights

Hi there. Happy Friday (big cheer!)

I trust everyone enjoyed the inspiration of the GREAT OUTDOORS from our most recent blog party. The variety of projects was amazing and we are truly thankful that you took the time to participate.  We know that there are LOTS of on-line activities that you could participate in, and we are so happy that you deemed the WMS Blog Party worthy of your time and creative talent.  You can still take a gander at all the fantastic project which can be found here.

Everyone did a fantastic job.  The following three projects really caught my eye.

Maureen Plut really rocked the wild west with this totally out-doorsy card using the Back in the Saddle set where she created a birthday card for her dad using a photo of him in the “wanted” poster.  Maureen created a fantastic background stamped on text paper and adorned it with a great organic burlap star to compliment her distressed edges.

reward

Jeanne Jachna did an amazing job of paper piecing this work of art with this campsite scene.  Her sun using the Dainty Doilies 2 Small set in the transitioning colors makes a wonderful background for the shooting rays of sunbeams/cardstock full of texture and dimension. Jeanne used the Off Beat Backgrounds as her mountains and in the tree patterns.  What a great use of out-door imagination and Waltzingmouse Stamps!

Helen Berry’s idea for this treat box was born from the thoughts of summer picnics and spending time outdoors where butterflies are a common sight.  Helen used one of Claire’s free templates, Sweetie Pouch, that she stamped with images from the French Country set and that lovely butterfly from the Nordic Spring set and filled her pouch with sweets!

Untitled

Aren’t these amazing creations?! Thanks to everyone who participated.  At the risk of sounding trite, I think everyone who participates in an event like this is a winner, but only one participate can win the free set that WMS is giving away to a lucky winner today.  We used Random.org to select our winner this month.  Congratulations goes to:

Sarah of Dreaming Spires Blog

Congratulations Sarah.  Please send Claire an e-mail at Claire.brennan1@ntlworld.com with your stamp set selection and mailing address details. Please use BLOG PARTY WINNER in your subject line.  We appreciate EVERYONE’S participation and support of the “Blog Party”.  It was great fun looking at all the very creative projects.  We hope you had as much fun blog creating as we did seeing your beautiful projects.

Be sure to check back on August 1st, when we will announce the theme for the August 17th “party”.

...Trim Castle and Store news

It's been a while since I shared any pics of Ireland, this is largely because it's been a while since I've seen any of Ireland...

We had been in the habit of getting out most weekends for a little drive, and the very odd weekend we went a little further and stayed over. We're hoping to resume that little pass time this summer. Ireland has something interesting in every corner and I'd like to see it all before I'm done. I don't consider this greedy at all, after all Ireland is only a wee small island!

One of the last places we visited was Trim. I love castles and so when I do get out I tend to aim for ancient stones, my family are all very accommodating I have to say...

Trim Castle is in County Meath, if you are having a wander through the web, you can follow this link, to find out a little more about it...

You can go all the way up to the battlements via these bridges and the original stone stairwells, that is if you are very brave. I've no head for heights and I'm quite happy to imagine the view, indeed next time you are on a guided tour of anything over one story tall, I'll be the lady on her knees in the corner clutching the rail for dear life...

Store News

Price Increase...

We have big, and I do mean BIG plans for Waltzingmouse Stamps this year, and so we're doing a little housekeeping this weekend on the store. The price increase that was meant to happen in February will be taking place over the weekend, probably beginning on Sunday. Changes will take place throughout the day, we now have over 100 stamp sets on our store and so it may take me some time to update everything. All my manufacturing costs went up in January and I've run out of excuses for the accountant lady...so the dreaded deed must now occur.

Please note anyone ordering back-ordered items or pre-order items before the price increase begins on Sunday will of course still receive their items at the old price.

Shipping Changes...

We are overhauling the shipping set-up also. We have to get the shipping system ready for a HUGE exciting addition and so changes to the shipping rates will occur at the weekend also. Royal Mail increased their prices in April also and that will have an effect on our free shipping threshold.

Again anyone placing an order before Sunday will have their goodies shipped at the current rates.

Well, that's my weekend spoken for, what are you up to?

...big berry

Good evening...more visual 'elevator music' for you, I'm still shipping orders and I'm way behind with shipping notes etc, but I had this card ready and thought I'd pop it up.

It's a standard size 4.25 by 5.5 inch card and yep, that's a big berry! It's from the Pre-order set Big Berries - Strawberry that will ship mid July. Lots of peeps have already ordered this and so it's the least I can do to show you what it looks like and get some ideas together so that when you get your berries, you are good to go!

In the next few days I'll be making the cut files available for this and the Jar fillers set  Jam Packed, the sentiment and label shape are both from Jam Packed and I used little cut files to trim out both the Strawberry and the label. these are a lot of fun, but I really gots to go get those envelopes out that door...back soon for a chat!

For the strawberry I found it easiest to stamp the stalk first, with the clear stamps, and a dark background it is easy to line up the image on a strawberry shape made with a cut file.

hope it tickles!

...and the winners are:

Winner of the $100 gift cert for WMS stamps in the Spread the love comp was:

Heidi who said...

So cute, love these little minis. I have to say the strawberry one is my fav! I pinned it along with some others on my pinterest!

and the winner of the 'Win your Basket' promo was:Janet Littlefield
to whom I have already sent an email...in the interest of discretion it's all I can say to hope that Janet will be tickled pink to get the note!!

Heidi - pop me an email with 'winner winner chicken dinner' in the subject, so's I can spot you easily!!! and I'll get your code right out to you!!!

Hope you are all having a very happy 4th July, tho I hear the weather has made fireworks off limits for the celebrations in many places..isn't this weather crazy?

...Is your rooster behaving well?

A quick note for folks who have the French Country set. Way back in May, I had a couple of folks email me to say that their rooster image was not stamping properly. I replaced the stamps of course and took steps to make sure that all subsequent roosters behaved themselves.

I intended to send out a general email to ask if anyone else needed a replacement, but with all that was going on at the time, I did not complete that task.

So I'm asking folks, if you have French Country - is your rooster stamping perfectly? If not, please email me on claire.brennan1@ntlworld.com I would like to make sure there are no naughty roosters at large....

...Happy 4th July

Good morning! I'm stuffing envelopes after the release at present, so you can think of this photo as your visual 'elevator music' on the blog here this morning!

Hope you are all having a lovely 4th July wherever you are!

I'll be back later this evening to announce our winners, in the meantime, I have this card that I made for the release and didn't have time to pop up here...love this image, created with elements from My Island....the background circles are from Free Spirit Boy.

hope it tickles!

...Win your basket closed

Our Win-your-basket promotion for this release has now closed, we will announce the winner tomorrow night along with the winner of the Spread the Love promo.

You still have another day to enter the Spread the Love promo - see the details at the bottom of this long post right here.

Happy 4th July to all our US friends!

Blog-Party-Logo 70%25

Hello?  You there?  Hello...(echo, echo, echo) Chances are you are spending lots of time outdoors, enjoying your summer.  The longer days and pleasant weather affords lots of possibilities.

Perhaps you are going on vacation.

vacation

Maybe spending some time at the park with barbecues and picnics

picnic

Or lucky enough to attend a family reunion.

Picnic

Will you visit the beach?

beach

Or maybe a fun filled day at the amusement park… and generally doing all those things of which we enjoy most during the long summer days.

ferris wheelsWhatever fun the summer months may bring your way, it’s almost certain that you will be spending some time outdoors.  So it is appropriate that the theme for the July 2012 Waltzingmouse Stamps Blog Party is THE GREAT OUTDOORS.  Use your imagination; show us some ingenuity and create a card, a 3D project, or even a scrapbook page, using images from Waltzingmouse Stamps  to share your interpretation of the GREAT OUTDOORS.  Maybe your idea of outdoors is a beautiful garden scene, a walk in the woods, a colorful butterfly, or even a day at the beach.  Which ever direction your mojo takes you, just go with it.

What?  You don’t have any Waltzingmouse Stamps images?  Check out the “freebies” section of the store and perhaps you will find your image AND inspiration there.

Below is the schedule of beginning and end times in which you can enter your direct link to your project.  Your blog post, or on-line gallery, may go live anytime you wish on the 17th, but you will need to post your direct link here on the WMS blog using the Inlinkz widget that will be available during the time frame (outlined below) .

The festivities begin right here, according to your location, as indicated below:

UK - 6:30 p.m. 17th July- 6:30 p.m. 18th July

USA (New York) 1:30 p.m. 17th July- 1:30 p.m. 18th July

The linking option will be closed after that time.  From there you can just click on any of the projects linked and be directed to any of the participants’ blogs to get a closer look at their creativity.

Although we call this a "blog party", it is perfectly acceptable, if you don't have a blog, to use an on-line gallery for your project.  It doesn't even have to be the Waltzingmouse Stamps gallery either (although you are most welcome to upload as many WMS projects as you like there).  On-line galleries such as Flickr, Picasa or other galleries are also fine.

You only need to do three things:

1.  You will need to be able to link your project here, using a direct link URL

2.  Your project needs to contain something directly related to the theme – color or other inspiration should be noted in the description of your creation.

3.  You must use Waltzingmouse Stamps images

We encourage and welcome you to grab this "party mouse" blog button (at the top of this post for your blog sidebar, and to use it at the top of your post on "party day".

On the 20th of the month – we will highlight a few of the entries that really catch our eye and you'll be able to see those here on the WMS blog.  We will also select and announce our winner of the FREE stamp set of choice, using a random generator from those participating in the Blog Party.
