...they're in...they're out!!

Got another shipment of Very Vintage Christmas and Halloween sets this afternoon, which means that ALL outstanding orders are now packed and ready to ship first thing in the morning!!!! Yay!! yes, even the orders placed today are ready to go. I'm so relieved - I can't tell you all how I hate to keep folks waiting!!

It might take a day or two to get all the shipping notices out so I thought I'd post it here.

I'm hoping my supplier is recovering from their horrendous move earlier this month and that replenishment will return to what it was.

So how are you all?

I've been busy. I'm drawing like crazy, trying to get a stack of sets ready and working on a new webstore!!!!!

I'm really hoping to have an 'Official Launch Party' in a few weeks time here on my blog and on the new store. There will be plenty of inspiration, wink! and a GRAND prize!! so keep an eye out for more news on that.

So, that's it for store news, read on only if you are truly bored, otherwise call back soon as I'd really like to make a few cards in the next day or two it feels like so long since I did any!!

Waffle

Most days I can do a real good impression of a flat stomach just by pulling it all in and holding my breath, the sight of a clingy tee-shirt, actually hanging loosly across a taut tum really diverts the eyes from the accompanying purple face and puffed cheeks. So it was with a slightly dejected countenance that I stared down into little guys' smiling face as he announced, loudly, in an audience-seeking kind of way, that "Mummy, you has got twoooooo bellies!!!" 'Course we had to be in the supermarket at the time.

Sympathetic smiles and tilting-of-the-head from anyone within earshot.

Purple with embarrassment I hurried to the next aisle.

Little guy, not one to be fobbed off, carried on the monologue. "Mummy lemme see your twooo bellies!!" and promptly lunged forward to grab a couple of handfuls. In a split second, ninja-slow-motion moment I began to comprehend that little guy was actually aiming far higher than belly level and, in his two year old innocence, has no idea that they are actually called something else.

I left the second aisle mortified as the little hands landed.

...hungry?

Pics - top Croagh Patrick from Old Head Beach/Forest, bottom, Clew Bay from the lower section of Croagh Patrick, just behind the statue of himself.

So, anyone going to be in Mayo anytime soon? If you are, I can highly recommend your eating establishment. DO NOT go past the Tavern Bar and restaurant at Murrisk. The food is scrumptious. Upstairs they do a la carte menu - I can still taste it. Mmmmm (Homer Simpson moment). Downstairs they serve Bar food - it is terrific quality - we ate just about everything on the menu when we were there recently. The serving staff are fabulous, very attentive, full of manners.

Portions are generous - they know how to feed actual people. Huge oval plates stuffed with the best of fare. Side dishes aplenty, check out the Sumo fries. Nothing is to much trouble, a little milk to cool the children's potatoes?...no problem. The only thing missing at the Tavern is a member of staff especially assigned to come out and massage your tummy in between courses to make more room.

It's a buzzing little spot that is very family friendly, but not in a chips mashed into the floor sort of way. The Tavern manages to cater for families without losing it's grip on cleanliness like so many other places. There's always a lovely mix of locals and tourists of all vintages.

The location is fabulous, on the coast road between Westport and Louisburgh, ideal thing to do is eat dinner at the Tavern and then drive over the road to the ruins of the Abbey where you can watch the sunset over Clew bay while admiring the ruins and of course Croagh Patrick, the Holy mountain.

That's two years in a row we've eaten there, and I'm saving to go again. Ask for Ruth, tell her I sent you, you won't be disappointed...

...end of a busy week

Wanted to thank all of you for your incredible support during this release. I can't believe my luck, with all of the sets sold out. (Scroll down to see) More are on the way as you may have seen from previous posts and of course I'll update the blog with info as I get it.

I am organising the next series of releases which have been thrown into slight disarray by the effects of my suppliers move. I had intended to release a delicious Thanksgiving set early in September but I think that this will not be possible now. A late September release for this would be too late for many of you.

So for today I leave you with a pic I took on Holiday last month. I can't swim but for some reason I am incredibly drawn by the sea, especially at sunset. My DH drove for miles up a winding country road to get us to the top of a hill at just the right moment for us to snap this shot. There are people who can see this view every night!! imagine. It's a view from outside Louisburgh over the bay to Clare Island (Where Pirate Queen Grace O'Malley had a castle) and beyond.

Back tomorrow with card!

...Sold Out

I have to let folks know that the August release sets are now all sold out, I have ordered replacements. Prior to this my restocking time was one week but my supplier recently changed premises and this has had a knock-on effect on my supply. Therefore I am sorry to have to advise folks that it will be 2-3 weeks before I receive the replacement stock and not the usual 7 days.

Still in stock are the Celtic sets and the Gingerbread sets.

My shopping cart is set up so that it will still take orders should anyone wish to reserve a set but please be advised delivery is going to be around a month.

I will update this post if the situation changes.

I do apologise for the inconvenience this is bound to cause, no-one is more disappointed than I am about it.

Launching today - 4 new stampsets!!!

Ed, I'm delighted to say that the volume of sales in the Waltzingmouse store means that instead of the usual 2 days it takes me to wade through packing and shipping, I think it's going to take around 4 days to get everyone's orders shipped (this is because there's only me packing and shipping!) - I do send out shipping notices, so folks should all receive a shipping notice in the next few days.

Very Vintage Christmas and Halloween Party sold out of the first consignment - more sets are on the way so you can still go ahead and order these sets if you haven't already. I'm still expecting to fulfill the orders within the 14 days standard shipping time. If i think your order is going to take a little longer, I will email you to let you know. Many thanks for all of my lovely customers!! I appreciate your custom.

It's Launch day and the store is now open!! there are 4 new stamp sets releasing today and I thank everyone who has been through the sample saga with me all week!! your comments have kept me going!! Many thanks for all your comments on packaging!!!

All sets retail at an amazing £13 sterling each - check out how many images and sentiments are in each set!! (approx US $21.69, Canada $23.46, Euro 15.29, Australian $26 - all values approximate as of 9th Aug and subject to change - source, XE.com)

Here they are, hope they tickle!

Very Vintage Christmas tag set, but more, much more. Aside from the beautiful filigree tag which co-ordinates with a spellbinders die ( Largest die in small labels set), there is a completed circular tag stamp - good for tags/coasters/cards etc (works with 2.5 inch circular punch). Make your own snowflakes with the snowflake starter stamp - then add your choice of snowflake legs. (see blog for deets) Huge opportunities for background patterns from border, holly, snowflake, tile stamp stamps. And of course vintage style sentiments and mini flourishes to add that touch of nostalgic class to the holiday festivities. All images and stamp designs are Copyright © 2009 Waltzingmouse Stamps, Claire Brennan.

Halloween Party - Absolutely my favourite witch of all time, Winnie was inspired by my recollections of all story book witches I ever knew - period costume, generous nose, high heeled buckled shoes and of course crooked hat and classic broom. She is the perfect foil for the original Halloween invitation rhyme - use one verse or use all three, you won't be stuck for images to accompany your halloween tags and cards this year. Cauldron with separate bubbling broth! what fun! All the usual suspects are there and many of them fit beautifuly into the circular tag sentiment (works well with 2 inch circle punch) - for all those millions of sweet treat bags you hand out at Halloween. All images and stamp designs are Copyright © 2009 Waltzingmouse Stamps, Claire Brennan.

Say it with Style - A gorgeous collection of everyday phrases set in a superbly elegant script font, new this year. Co-ordinating imagery is drawn in a matching calligraphic style for when you want to say it with a certain elegance. The simple frame co-ordintaes with a spellbinders label 4 die (third from biggest) for making beautiful focal points and tags. Easy backgrounds can be made with the scroll border stamp or the little square stamps. Flowers, leaves/hearts and other motifs including a baby face and quill complete the set. All images and stamp designs are Copyright © 2009 Waltzingmouse Stamps, Claire Brennan.

Earth Angel - A simple little girl stamp surrounded by a multitude of accessories that transform her into an angel, a daughter, a bridesmaid, a flowergirl. She'll be useful come summer, winter, spring or fall as she sows the seeds of love and friendship in her garden of flowers. Individual wings can make her a garden or christmas angel and the butterfly body stamp included means you can stamp custom butterflies 'till your heart's content! Aaahhhh don't we all feel better now? lol! All images and stamp designs are Copyright © 2009 Waltzingmouse Stamps, Claire Brennan.

Katrynka/Lee,please email me after the release to let me know what set you'd like as your free gift!!

Hello and welcome to the final day of samples before release tomorrow (Sunday) when I will open the selling on the 4 new clear stampsets I've been showing samples of all week! Today's competition question is at the bottom of the post!!

I will be closing the online store this evening to update the products, it will re-open again tomorrow morning for the release!!

Today I have a really dinky wee set to show you. It started of life as a little doodle I did of my biggest daughter, she's my wee angel!! It expanded into a stampset featuring a little girl figure that can be customized using various accessories.

She can be an angel - there are FOUR sets of wings in TWO sizes! She can be a flower girl or bridesmaid - there's a floral garland that she can hold. She can sow seeds of love and friendship from her little seed bag or pocket or she can be a little girl skipping happily - she has a skipping rope too!!

The card above show's her with two tiny wings and the floral garland. She has a tiny bow in her hair that you can colour to match her outfit!!

She's happy in spring, summer, winter or fall and she is ideal for colouring in and paper piecing. The wings are very detailed and although I coloured all my samples with copics without any problem I could see that certain wings will suit the sharp point of a colouring pencil.

There are so many possibilities and, as with all of the sets I've previewed this week, I feel like I have just scratched the surface, I can't wait to see what other folks do with this!!

In this card she's a christmas angel, with paperpieced red dress (pattern and sentiment stamped with the border stamp in the new Very Vintage Christmas set also releasing tomorrow) I used a pair of larger wings, a sort of paper doily design with a stitched heart at the centre. I drew a short pencil line through her hand and stuck a start shaped shiny bling thing at the end of it for a wand!

This is going to be a fab set to make encouragemet cards for my girls with - In the card above I made her skip by arranging the skipping rope border stamp into a curve, making sure the handles were going to match up with her hands. It leaves a nice area to stamp a sentiment in. Did you notice how I changed her dress? There's a handy wee stamp that allows you to change her plain dress into a top and smock pinafore!! How cool is that for changing between formal and csual wear!! lol.

I'm partial to this lovely simple golden angel sowing seeds of love and kindness from her little seed bag! the bag is a separate stamp and is surprisingly easy to line up. This angel has two little paper doily wings. I love the fall colours of this card.

And guess what else you can make!!!! Butterflies. Each wing is a separate stamp as is the butterfly body. Custom butterflies!!!

As promised today is another competition day - A free set of your choice goes to a random commentor on this post. The question I want you to answer is which is your favourite set from the 4 previewed in this weeks samples? - they are:

Halloween Party
Very Vintage Christmas

Say it with style

...and the winner is...

I've just been to the Random number generator and it threw up number 21 so the winner of the competition was:Blogger

Lee who said...

"Your stamps are beautiful, Claire. As of yet I don't own a set but hope to rectify that soon. The exchange rate and postage fees are always a concern for me as the SA rand is so weak against the dollar and pound. So I say go with the cheaper packaging to keep costs down. Loving all your release projects."

Congratulations Lee!! - drop me an email after the release to let me know which stampset you'd like!!!!!!

Thank you to all who answered the question - I hear you!! my packaging will stay the same, sometime in the future I might want a little paper inset with my name on it so you all remember where you bought the stamps, but only if it doesn't add to the cost or shipping rate!!!!

Call back tomorrow for samples of the last stampset before Sunday's release, it's another competition day!!!

Thank you all for taking part

...Today's second Post - Say it with style

You might like to scroll down to see what else was posted today!! If you're new here, you might be interested to know I'm releasing 4 new stamp sets on Sunday!! scroll down to see the samples I've been posting all week!! I'll be announcing the winner of the competition later this evening about 11pm my time, here on the blog and if you don't have any luck in that you could call back tomorrow for another competition and the samples to my next set, as yet unseen! All shipping and cost info will be here on the blog on Sunday in the release post!! look forward to seeing you!

Remember this morning I said you didn't need the labels 4 die to use the frame in the Say it with Style stampset? Well for this sweet little baby card I cut the sentiment and frame out as a plain rectangle and then used a fancy corner punch to add some nice detail to the corners - I think it works beautifully! I couldn't resist adding a little babyface stamp, complete with curl, to the set.

I love it when things have a dual purpose and the heart shapes that I used to stamp the background on the baby card also make fab leaves! There are two sizes of heart/leaf shapes which compliment the three sizes of flower stamps - also in the Say it with Style stampset. You can see them below in the Christmas card. If I had more than 2 red copics I could have done a lovely shading job on the petals!!! They're on my wish list!

The Say it with Style stampset is a very versatile set. The images have been designed with flowing lines of varying thickness that echo the text. The flowers especially are so easy to colour and cut out and would be so suitable for paper piecing.

Right now I gotta run and colour some angels! oops!

Hope they tickle.

...Aug 09 Release Day 5 Say it with Style

If you are new here - I'll be launching 4 new clear stampsets on Sunday!! All this week I've been showing samples, and I'm not done yet!!!! You might like to check out my store to get an idea of shipping/prices etc. Thanks for looking.

I admire simple elegance and good taste, qualities that are sadly lacking in my wardrobe department! lol. However, I love to make elegant cards and the next stampset I want to show you helps me do just that. It is called Say it with Style and it features many useful sentiments set in a most beautifully flourished font.

All of the sentiments in the set can fit inside the little simple scroll frame that I designed to work with a gorgeous spellbinders Labels Four die (Third from biggest) I am crazy about this die and I love to use it. The sentiments also look fabulous on their own and you don't need the die - the frame can be cut out as a rectangle too - more on that later.

These cards show just how easy it is to make simple elegant cards to say just what you want. I love the My Apologies sentiment - I think it hits just the right note. I simply layered the sentiment over a strip of patterned paper and some ribbons. Bit of stitching and sponging to finish.

Above - I used the little square XO (kiss hug) stamp to make a mosaic background upon which I placed my 'I love you' sentiment, complete with frame.

A fun image in this set is the petite quill image - perfect for those 'Just a note' cards that I always seem to need but never have - until now. These mini cards are 3x3 inches and take moments to create.

There is also a fabulous scroll border stamp in the set - love how it rolls down the page, great for making backgrounds - I stamped it here 3 times to make a patterned background on one side of the card. Then added a framed 'Thank you' sentiment, few pearls, ribbon, done.

Hope they tickle - hopefully be back later with more!

...August 09 Release Day 4 Halloween again!!

Welcome to Day 4! Had some unfinished business with Halloween, hope you don't mind!! lol. Hoping to get samples up for the other two sets tomorrow and sat and then Release the sets on Sunday! If you are new here I'm releasing 4 sets of Clear photopolymer stamps at the end of the week. Check this post for details and to enter the competition!!

These luminaries have to be the simplest thing on the planet to make, the hard bit is to remember to buy the BATTERY POWERED TEA LIGHTS in advance - No candles please ladies, I don't want to be reading about you in the newspaper!!

Cut a sheet of vellum (PTI do a nice linen texture one) in half lengthwise, or maybe slightly wider, and stamp you scene, secure one end to the other with double sided tape. Easy peasy. This Halloween Party stampset makes it real easy to create the little scene you see here! I picture my witch out in the forest under a moonlit sky casting spells over the bubbling cauldron, while bats circle the skies! pumpkins lying around everywhere. Think that just about covers it! lol. I make a stack of these very year and then just cut them apart beside the join, with scissors, and store flat before re-sticking them next year - sure they're getting a 1/4 inch smaller every year but it's not a problem unless you want to use them for more than 5 years in a row!

Treat bags. Super simple tags made up using the circular sentiment (co-ordinates with a 2 inch circle punch) and some of the images from the Halloween Party stampset. Pop the candies into a clear cello bag, tie with ribbon and stick on a tag, superfast way to dress them up! Apologies for the small portion, I have a problem with the cast eating the props.

Remember I told you that I had made up a little invite rhyme, well here's a dinky way to use it - A little invitation booklet, complete with secret compartment for writing your own message regarding time, venue etc! The booklet measures about 3 inches by 2 and 1/4 inches, very dinky and surprisingly quick/easy to make. I will try to do a tutorial for this but it's going to be next week, after the release is over.

It's a little accordion booklet, held together with black and white saddlestitch ribbon, I took a copic and coloured the white stitching orange. I matched up my verses with co-ordinating images from the Halloween Party stampset. Love that wee mask!

Above, the last verse opens forward to reveal a secret page where you can write in the party details.

The Entire Rhyme reads:

  • Come, if you dare, on Halloween Night, for food and drink and many a fright.
  • Come, if you dare, in secret dress, but be ready and willing, your name to confess,
  • Come, when the sky is the colour of soot, but beware! beware! there is mischief afoot

you can of course, just use one or two verses on your project.

And finally a super simple card, I just wanted to show you this fun 'frogspawn' background I made using a little square patterned stamp from the Halloween Party stampset.

So don't forget to call back often so see what else is new before the release on Sunday! Bring friends, there's another competition to go!

Hope they tickle!!

...August 09 release Day 3 More Christmas!!!

Competition Day!!!

ED - this competition is now closed and a winner picked!! Many thanks

Leave a comment at the end of today's post to be in with a chance of winning a stampset of your choice from this release!!

I want to know what you think of packaging. My stamps come on clear carrier sheets, in a poly bag. Anyone who has ordered will tell you that it is functional but not beautiful. I chose this basic packaging for a couple of reasons but the main goal was to keep costs down so that the stampsets could be keenly priced and the shipping cheap because of the low bulk. (For shipping cost etc see my store info here)

The Question I'd like to ask you is - 'Would you prefer more beautiful packaging/stamp storage option, such as clear CD etc if it meant stampsets and shipping were sligtly more expensive?' So leave your comment and I will pick a random winner on Friday Night (my time). Thanks for looking!

So, you all fed up yet!! lol. I got a shedload of stuff to get through before I open the selling for these stampsets, If you are new here, I'm showing samples this week of 4 New Stampsets that I will be releasing soon as I get through the samples!! most likely Sat/Sun. The Clear Photopolymer stampsets retail at £13 sterling each (approx just over $22 US dollars at todays rate, which is subject to change) and I ship to US, Canada, Australia, Europe, UK and Ireland. (Approimate shipping costs can bee seen on the store site here in the left hand sidebar, scroll down.)

You will be able to see the complete sets here on my blog later in the week, so call back and bring buddies, there's at least one more competition after this one!!

Kicking off today with a few more tags made with the Very Vintage Christmas stampset described yesterday, I so love making these tags, and I've really only scratched the surface here, I can think of loads of other things to do with these stamps but there just aren't enough hours in the day!! lol.

Above is a one layer simplified version of yesterdays tag ( you might want to post one on a card) and a Green and champaign coloured tag that I absolutely love. There's something very sophisticated about the Joyeux Noel sentiment and I don't think you need to be French to use it! lol. Love that wee scroll flourish stamp - there's a matching pair of these in the set!!

Scroll down to see all of todays samples, and you might want to check out the two previous posts, just incase you missed anything!!

Tag above stamped in distress ink, I love a cream/fawn colour scheme as well as the rich reds and greens!!

Added a bit of sparkle to the blues!

This is the simple tag I was telling you about yesterday - it's all one stamp - superfast to stamp and punch out. Coulouring is really easy due to some nice thick black lines! (wink!) add a colored mat and away you go - tag back is optional, I used a border stamp to add two decorative bars to the reverse of my tag.

The stamp co-ordinates with a 2.5 inch punch - I don't have one, so I used a nestabilities classic circle!! Bit of ribbon, wee bell.

Whipped up a couple of cards to show the kind of backgrounds that you can make with this set. There is a long filigree border that I just love in the Very Vintage Christmas set. I used it to make a background for the card above stamping it in several shades of green! Sponged it all with antique distress ink and added ribbon and a wee corner sentiment! The holly and berries is a single stamp, all you need to do is colour, or not as the notion takes you. Stamped a sentiment and was finished.

On this card I used the readymade snowflake (single stamp) to speedily make a patterned background for my card. Popped some red into the design with a dinky circle stamp included in the set. Sentiment in green with a co-ordinating weeny red snowflake stamp.

Hope they tickle. Don't forget to leave a comment to be in with a chance of winning!!

...Aug '09 release Day 2. Christmas!!

Ed - I should have mentioned, for anyone who's new here - I will be showing samples on my blog for the next few days relating to the four new Clear Stamp sets that I will be releasing at the end of the week! Check back often to join the fun - tomorrow is a competition day!! The stampsets will be available to US, Canada, Australia, Europe and UK/Ireland too! If you are from somewhere else, pop me an email!

So, who likes to colour in?

Me.

I've been looking for a set like this since I started stamping. Couldn't find it. I love a nostalgic Christmas and all of the comfort and fuss of vintage ephemera. I wanted to be able to build Old-Fashioned tags, in a decent size and now I can!

The tag you see above uses the large tag frame stamp, which co-ordinates with a spellbinders die.( Largest die in small labels set) But you don't need one to make a tag. The rectangular shape makes cutting out easy and corners can be snipped off or left on. The tag above measures 2 and 5/8 inches by 3 and 3/8 inches.

I used the 'HO HO HO' sentiment and stamped some single holly leaves, which were then cut out and fixed in position with glue. Holly berries cover the ends.

The tag is colored with copics except for the centre oval and the edges which are sponged in Antique and Tea dye distress Inks. TIP - the centre oval is exactly the same size as a spellbinders classic oval (3rd from smallest on the larger set.) I cut a mask from a post it note using this die and used it to protect the copic coloured area while I sponged the centre. This is also going to be very handy if I want to make a layered tag!!

I stamped and colored two tags - cut them out with the die and then stuck them back to back before punching a little hole for ribbon in the space provided by the design. A little gold ribbon to finish. I hear Gina K sells heavy cardstock that doesn't show bleed through from copics should you need to make a tag from a single layer of card.

I think these tags would make excellent cards/scrap embellishments, possibilities are endless!

This might just be my favourite stamp set so far.

The Very Vintage Christmas stampset features a customizable tag design, with multiple sentiments set in antique fonts. But that's not all.

There is also a complete tag design, ready to stamp and a nifty little collection of stamps designed to allow you to create some beautiful antique style snowflakes, plus a preformed snowflake for when you just don't have time. Plus Holly (antique version and a plain version) and a few little mini flourish accents, Oh! and a couple of borders too!. Phew - the hoops I jumped through getting this all to fit in one set.

I am very pleased with this set and I think it represents fantastic value, given all of the potential - the tags can also be used on christmas cards/scrap pages and since all the sentiments are separate stamps - they are ideal for cards/scrapbooking aswell.

This card uses the 3 different sizes of snowflake 'legs' and the snowflake 'centre' that come in The Very Vintage Christmas stampset. (Thanks to Beverly of Precious Scraps for the page pebbles!!!) From the pictures below you can see how you start with the snowflake centre (could also be used as a mini snowflake) and stamp it in the postion of where you want the snowflake to be. This example shows it places above the word Christmas. What I especially like about this method is that you can build half a snowflake, or any portion of a snowflake, anywhere you like, in multiple sizes.

In the example below I made half a snowflake (with the smallest 'leg') to fit the space above the sentiment.

Above, joining a leg to the snowflake centre is surprisingly easy - the bobble ends on the snowflake centre give a larger target for the end of the snowflake leg and you really have to be way off before it becomes noticable.

Hope it tickles!!
